Concentrate bottle weights by vendor / size

Long story short, I'm getting ready to start the extremely tedious project of updating all my inventory amounts which I've been very lax in keeping up with. I figure the easiest way to do this is to weigh each bottle, but I don't have any empties to get a base weight from.

Does anyone happen to have weights on any of the following bottles, empty?

BCV 10 & 30ml bottles
FA Original packaging 10ml
Gremlin 15 & 30 ml bottles

Edit: Would need the weight of the bottle, tip, and cap.

Edit 2: If you have the weights of bottles not listed here, go ahead and post them and we'll compile as comprehensive of a list as we can.

Edit 3: Compiled list of results

BCV 10ml - 6.2g
Gremlin 30ml - 8.4g
FA 10ml - 6.8g

by abdadaover 9 years agoI will rip you a new one if you don't use the sidebar & search.

I do this all the time, but I've never bought from BCV and I don't have any FA 10mls since I usually just buy the 30ml.

This is something we need to add to the wiki, though.

My inventory is so fast when I just toss the bottle on the scale and type in the total weight.

I would suggest that a picture of each bottle be included on the wiki so that when venders change bottles it should be easy to identify which bottle you have.

Would it be best to weigh the bottles bone dry or with what doesn't easily come out of the bottle when it is just about empty? I'm thinking even though it will be an approximation of how much is left it is a good idea to go with a weight including what you won't be able to get out. That way you are closer to the weight of to what you easily have access too.

I would say bone dry just makes the most sense since the remainder could vary based on temperature of the room.

Maybe track both and a real size for each bottle. More days collection but it's all useful info.

I figure it's going to be an approximation anyway. I'm pretty confident that some of the vendors 10ml isn't exactly 10ml (I know one that I'm pretty sure is consistently over).

But, either way, I'd rather weigh on the short end.

Yeah, this little project was prompted by yet another instance of "oh... I didn't realize I was that low, I hope I have enough to finish this batch"

Although that's how I came up with some of my modified recipes... "What can I use to finish out the last three grams of this flavor....."

Just killed a Gremlin 30ml last night. Rinsed and dried: 8.40g, with tip & cap.

Hey, buddy - if you hang on a little while, all the flavors will have an inventory system for you. :) I wanted to get online recipe editing out the door first (available now), but inventory management is up next.

Since you've already paid for it, you might as well get the benefit.

That's what I'm preparing for ;)

But i need to figure out how much I have in my half empty bottles... I figure it'll take a little bit to get all the bottle weights compiled.

I know this is probably a dumb question, but why the need for this? I ask because I thought most here did a 1:1 ml/mg. When I started diy, I entered in all the specific gravity of each flavor. After reading that most people were just going with the 1:1, I've been doing that now.

He just wants to know how much flavoring is left in the bottle by weighing the mass of both, then subtracting the mass of the bottle.

It's just a quick and easy way to get my current inventory levels. Bottle with concentrate weighs 12g, bottle empty weighs 6, I have 6ml in that bottle. I haven't been tracking usage so it's just a simple way to get caught up.

How about measuring a known full bottle, and subtracting the weight of the contents.

FA 10ml bottle full = 16.97g less 10g for contents = 6.97 g

That would come close also. But I know at least some of my 15ml bottles have more than 15ml (more like 18) in them so if I got the empty weight, it would be a bit more accurate.
