Does anyone know any soury/tangy recipes that are relatively simple or alternatively know of any vendors ?

Malic acid is mega potent as a flavor muter. It just annihilates certain flavors. I generally suggest malic at way way way lower percentages. I make my own "sour blend" which is Citric acid to Malic Acid in a 10:1 ratio, and then I add Tartaric Acid to that. It's still not crazy sour but it's there in small small amounts.

so a dilution would be in order then?

I fond that TFA malic does kill things but I use it lower at it seems to add a zing without too much muting. Try as low as 0.05%

No, acids make your flavors taste like shit. But they taste like sour shit.
