Strawberry Banana Cake Recipe - Opinions?
submitted over 9 years ago by Josh45

Hello /r/Diy_Ejuice !

I been recently trying to make a cake flavor with strawberry and banana flavoring. I wanted something tasty but not to sweet.

Got bored of making clones of big name brands and decided to kinda try my hand at making this. Any opinions would be appreciated!

I want any criticism, bad or good.

I started with (CAP) Cake Batter. Since this is the only cake type juice I have, I used this. I have used this before and it is pretty tasty. Taste just like a cake to me personally. I stayed around 4.5% as it is pretty potent as well as the smell is pretty potent.

Next, I used (TFA) Strawberry. I was thinking about using (CAP) Sweet Strawberry but I wanted something more neutral-ish, If that makes any sense and this tasted like regular strawberry. Went with 4% on this. It taste a tad light. Thinking I need to amp this up to 6-8% maybe. Its there but it taste like an undertone. I want this to be more noticeable.

(TFA) Bavarian Cream - I used this to give me a small boost in a creamy taste. It helps a bit. Give it a little roundness in a sense. I went with 1.5%. I feel like its okay here but room for improvement is possible.

(CAP) Sweet Cream - Again, I wanted it to be a bit creamier. Soft and smooth. I used this at around 2%. I honestly feel like I got the smooth taste to it with this.

(CAP) Marshmallow - Mouth feel. I felt like this would help it out and after vaping a small bit, I can tell it did. It has a soft sponge like taste to it. 1.75% is what I went with.

(LA) Banana Cream - Honestly, I like this banana cream. It went well as an undertone which is what I wanted. I used this at 2.5% and felt like it was where it should be when I vaped it. Not overly powerful but a nice undertone with some fluff.

All in all, I like it but I feel like it's missing something. I'm not really sure other than maybe amping up the strawberry to get a better overall taste.

As for my PG/VG, Its 30/70. I used Vape Clairty Nicotine at 3mg. Strength is 36mg, 50PG/50VG.

  • CAP Cake Batter - 4.5%
  • TFA Strawberry - 4%
  • TFA Bavarian Cream - 1.5%
  • CAP Sweet Cream - 2.0%
  • CAP Marshmallow - 1.75%
  • LA Banana Cream - 2.5%

When using TFA strawberry, I like to mix it with TFA Strawberry ripe about a 1:1 ratio. It gives a better strawberry flavor in my opinion. So if I want 5% strawberry flavor, I do 2.5% strawberry and 2.5% strawberry ripe. I find there is something missing in the strawberry flavor if I only use one or the other. I also find I can get a stronger strawberry flavor this way without getting a funky taste. Too much strawberry tastes artificial and chemically at higher percentages and and too much ripe starts to taste like wet socks to me. YMMV

I think I need to do it this way. When I worked with CAP SS, at 8%, it was good but tasted kind of the way you described.

I have never had cap ss but I assume it is similar to strawberry ripe. I have actually used strawberry ripe at low percentages as a sweetener in a cherry vape.

Personally, They taste quite different. SS has more of a sweet mellow taste while ripe has that tart taste to it.

Don't have LA Cheesecake. I will give it a go at 1% with the CAP until then. Appreciate the advice!

I really like to combine TFA Strawberry with CA sweet strawberry. Try adding 2% sweet strawberry to make it pop more! Personally I use CAP's Cake batter around 1-3% Maybe lowering that a bit will help the other flavors shine. I also really enjoy FW cake batter dip if you ever need more cake flavors in your arsenal

I will probably order that the next time around. I still have lots of flavors but could always use more variety. I think maybe amping Strawberry to 5% and maybe some Sweet Strawberry at 2.5% would help.

Probably will go to 3% on Cake Batter. Im going to wait till tomorrow to vape a bit more and see how it taste. Im gonna change cotton and coils on my gear and see if that helps anything.

4.5 is pretty high for cake batter, try a batch with it at 2% and see if the other flavors come out more.

It can dominate a mix for me even at 1% with fruits.

Sounds good. I will try it at 2% and probably keep everything the same and add some CAP SS at around 2-3%.

Sound ideal?

Shake and vape?

I'm gonna try your recipe out with the following substitutions:

  • CAP Cake Batter - 4.5%

  • TFA Strawberry - 4%

  • TFA Bavarian Cream - 1.5%

  • TFA Sweet Cream - 2.0%

  • FA Marshmallow - 1%

  • LA Banana Cream - 2.5%

Also, LA Banana Cream (Colorless) or regular?

I put everything away but Im 90% sure it was colorless. Do report back with your results please!

I think maybe a day or two of steeping may help.
