7% FW Cake Batter Dip

2% CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

1% FA Meringue

.5% Biscuit
To start off, this is in no way meant to "compete" with Wayne (/u/enyawreklaw) and his Funfetti recipe. While his recipe is delicious and very well thought out, I felt it was a little different than what I pictured a Funfetti flavor being. Moving on.
I worked on this recipe for maybe a month straight a while back when Wayne first started talking about doing a Funfetti mix. I gave up because I couldn't find anything that really hit the spot for me. I absolutely cannot stand CAP Cake Batter, and saw where someone recommended FW Cake Batter Dip instead. I decided to give it a try last month and knew immediately that this had to be my missing ingredient and decided to revisit the profile.
FW Cake Batter Dip on it's own tastes similar to frosted animal crackers to me. FW really nailed the sprinkle effect with this flavor. I feel like it works best as a main/base note due to the very distinct notes I get from it at higher percentages. Anything below 4% just sort of fades away after a couple days. I used it here at 7% to still retain the entire flavor profile without being either drowned out or overpowering.
CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream was used at 2% to give the impression of frosting when used with FA Meringue. Nothing too spectacular here. I felt the frosting needed to have some body that FA Meringue on it's own was missing. My first attempt was a combination of FA Vienna Cream, Fresh Cream, and Meringue. It made the cake too milky, and not sugary enough. TFA VBIC was a thought I had, but I knew to use its qualities for a cake frosting would mean I would detect the peppery note I get from it. That led to CAP VBIC. As I said..nothing spectacular there. Just a nice "aha!" moment when I found the right ratio with Meringue.
FA Meringue was the obvious first choice for the powdery sugar taste. I decided on using this before CAP VBIC and the two fit together very nicely.
INW Biscuit was a little more difficult to decide to use. It definitely wasn't my first, or even fourth choice. I wanted to enhance the baked cake flavor that FW Cake Batter Dip seemed to be missing. My first choice was FW Yellow Cake. It felt a little too bold and sweet to use with FW CBD even using at .5%. Abandoned that idea. My next idea was to use CAP Sugar Cookie at around 1-3%. Any attempts with that still felt lacking, and I didn't want to load this recipe down with flavors. I'm trying to move away from using too many flavors these days. Next option was CAP Graham Cracker at .25-5%. It did seem a little closer, but FW CBD reminds me a tiny bit of CAP Graham Cracker (and CAP Sugar Cookie), and it amplified the graham notes way too much to enjoy. Next was TFA Graham Cracker Clear. Just didn't work. But it did lead me to trying to use Biscuit to finish out a "baked" effect. 1% was way too buttery and dark tasting. .5% seemed to be the perfect level to add that hint of dryness I was missing from FW CBD.
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out, and it's been my ADV for the past two weeks. The cake flavor gets a little boosted after a 4-5 day steep, but nothing too drastic. This is as close to a shake & vape as I was going to get without sacrificing flavor.
For /u/abdada, I stuck with my usual 30/70. For you Max VG lovers, give this a week steep and it's delicious. 30/70 is perfect for me, though.
Enjoy!

I'm just going to copy and paste my notes from ELR here.
These were the inspiration for this recipe. I always have to beg the lady at the Chinese restaurant for a handful of these every time I go. If you haven't had them, they're basically just a sweet, almost sour guava candy.
If you guys know me, you know literally 90% of my recipes have some sort of cream in them. I wanted to branch out and make a unique candy flavor this time, and I think I've nailed that down pretty well here.
FLV Pink Guava was my first choice for the base note. It's a super strong flavor, resembling grapefruit if used above 1%. I wanted to keep this flavor at a low percentage and just build other flavors around it.
I thought lime might be an interesting addition, and I've been loving INW Lime for any sort of lime hint in a recipe. It tends to overpower a mix even at .5%, so I stuck with .25% for just that hint that I wanted.
CAP Lemon Lime is just used to boost the citrus flavors. It's a pretty light flavor, and 4% seemed to be right where I wanted it.
INW Dragonfruit helps add uniqueness and boost the tropical flavor a bit.
INW Cactus for juiciness.
FA Fuji for a little more brightness.
If I had to describe this in one word, it would probably be "green".
Shake & vape! Enjoy!
Nice! I saw all your recipes posted to ELR. You've been busy.
What are your thoughts on the real sugar content of FW Cake Batter Dip? I am trying to work out subs on all my favorite FW flavors. Poor Bro-Nuts :(
Haha yeah, I finally got out of my huge creative slump. Post has been updated with the other recipe, by the way.
It is quite a shame. I found out about that after I decided to stick with CBD, and I thought the flavor was unique enough that I wouldn't be able to recreate it using "safe" concentrates. I still think they have their place, sugar content or not. I'll still use them the same as I was before, but maybe try to make others aware of the sugar in them.
Well, we don't actually have confirmation that the MSDS sheets are accurate and up-to-date.
I'm going nuts trying to replace that damned beautiful FW Yellow Cake already. Next week I am going to set aside 4 hours to play around. Someone told me that Silver Estates' Pound Cake has some valuable flavors in it but who knows. I ordered some a few months ago and never cracked it open.
FA Nonna Cake is also in my vape mail to be opened. Let's hope!
Cake Batter Dip is amazing. I wonder if a liquid-to-liquid extraction in ethanol might help, lol.
If you're looking for cake-iness, you owe it to yourself to get Bakers Flavors' Vanilla Sponge Cake. It's lovely Twinkie cake goodness at just .4-.5%. I believe a lot (if not all) of their flavors are Ethyl Alcohol based, so that should fit in nice to your non-PG attempts.
What do you call real sugar? Sucrose?
I consider any simple sugar to be real sugar: sucrose (fructose+glucose), glucose and fructose.
I'm concerned about vaping real sugar due to the possible creation of carcinogenic acetaldehyde. I'm not sure if it actually is happening, though. I'd love to see if it's happening.
Forgot about adding the bonus recipe. I'll edit the post when I get back home.
Looks pretty yummy duder! I've been wanting to see a recipe that actually uses guava (had a bad experience with it shudder). If you have extra notes available for INW Cactus, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. That's one I've been eyeballing for a while now
Just get it :)
There are a handful of us that I'm gathering up for a huuuuge post for INW flavor notes. As soon as I get done testing these last few, I'm going to get the other guys' notes and post that. It's going to be gigantic.
Haha guess I have to now! F yeah! Can't wait; that will be a huge help
Was the candy Leechy candy? I butchered that spelling but I had a friend of mine's ex-wife always try to force that candy and fruit upon me.
I have twelve bags of rice and two cans of that stuff from her. She wasn't all bad but more of the "chinese food for every American I know" person.
That Guava candy doe! Lol the nail salon my Fiancee goes to has a big ass bowl of these sat out in front. The guy that run/owns the place forced me to eat one when my redneck/bullheaded self wouldn't eat one cause I've never had Guava. he ended up giving me a bag to take home, Win for me after i tried one.
Thanks for the recipe /u/NotCharlesManson! I just got some CBD So ill probably mix this up tonight since I'm off tomorrow.
Good fucking yard. Keep slayin boi.
This is a pic that I got of Manson's scales when he turns them on. http://i.imgur.com/4beC2Bk.jpg
Apparently he is a badass and you may have heard of him.
I am much more excited about the Chinese candy. Those things are a gift to man.
It's really unfortunate that I need to place an order to make it since my order from BCV shipped earlier today.
PS. You are my hero for that Amazon link. I had never wanted to know that I could buy them. Thanks for the diuhbeetus.
Hmmm never tried CAP VBIC, hows the profile compare to TFA's?
Made the cake last night. It was very cloudy and I wasn't sure if it was my bottle, that was previously used and washed, or just the flavoring. By this morning, all that cloudiness was gone. Very good, simple recipe. I can't express to how excited I am for the candy recipe tho. Already had pink guava in my cart and this made me pull the trigger. Every time my wife goes to Chinatown, she knows to bring these candies or don't come home. Lol! Thanks for the share!
Oddly, I seemed to get the peppery taste that everyone always talks about, but I used CAP VBIC and not TFA... I am so confused by this.
I'm going to try subbing with TFA VBIC and also making it again the proper way but letting it sit a day or two first. Maybe I screwed up a percentage?
This birthday cake recipe is a fucking home run dude. Please let me carry your children.
I know I'm resurrecting an old post here, but had to comment... I just got a bag of those guava candies you linked off Amazon, because I developed a guava obsession this past winter and they sounded awesome.
As soon as I opened the bag, and also later when I popped one in my mouth, I noticed a herbal "bug-spray" flavor/fragrance topnote. Well, I pulled out FA Zen Garden to compare, and it definitely has that same herbal "bug-spray" note. Might be worth trying a drop or two of that in your Guava-Lime Candy recipe!
