[RECIPE] *Lucky Monkey Milkshake* WITH development notes
submitted over 9 years ago by cannibalcastaway

This is born of about 2 weeks of testing and I am in love with it.

Lucky Monkey Milkshake (this is absolutely a shake and vape!)

2% FLV Creme De Menthe

8% TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

1% FW White chocolate

3% TFA Lucky Leprechaun (also known as TFA LL Cereal)

1% FLV Banana

1% TFA Banana Cream

0.5% FA Meringue

Sucralose to taste

Ok listen. I HATE mint and Menthol, but FLV Crem de Menthe is something special. Its frosty and has a smooth texture behind it, almost thick and fatty like a chocolate. Reminds me VERY much of junior mints or maybe even york peppermint patties.

TFA VBIC combines with that Creme De Menthe to start creating the milkshake profile. You COULD use the CAP version but the TFA one is working better for me and requires less steeping.

FW White chocolate is their for its fatty version of cream and to give more texture.

When I think of a milkshake, THICK is the MAIN concept im looking for. Some fast food companies use potato meal to accomplish the thickness cheap but any real milkshake gets its thickness from quality icecream. I add that extra level of thickness with the addition of TFA Lucky Leprechaun. Meant to be a Lucky Charms cereal flavor, it has a really nice marshmallow note to it, along with a grain-like note and a thick frosting profile. Adding it to this recipe gave me exactly what I was searching for in combination with the rest of the milkshake base.

The banana in this recipe is meant to be light. The combo of FLV banana (which is almost dry, but very natural and realistic) and TFA banana cream (which is NOT really realistic, but still yummy and thick in its own way) was perfect for my tastes. YOu could easily lose this if you dont want banana in it, or increase it if you want MORE banana flavor in the profile. Me, I like it right here. I may try out LA banana cream in this later.

FA Meringue is just another sweetener, and is yet another contributor to the thickness of my shake. Its kind of my whipcream on top too!

I put in 2 drops sucralose per 15ml. i REALLY think its necessary here, but I am a sucker for sweet, and any milkshake that isnt super sweet, is a failed milkshake,

I hope you guys like this. I am hooked on it and so are are few of my customers. In fact I burned out of FLV Creme de menthe and they are bitching cuz they cant get more from me this week.

Shake and vape? Steep time? Preferred PG/VG ratio?

its possibly the closest thing to a true shake and vape ive made. Steeping a few days improves a tad though. All my recipes are max vg (pg allergy, so I limit it as much as I can)

This seems very well thought out and tested. May I ask, what other flavors, no real detail needed, you have tried in order to satisfy the 'THICK' texture? I only make peanut butter vapes and I have nearly reached the creaminess. I miss the thickness of a real spoonful of peanut butter.

I have tested various marshmallows, various custards and creams, a few chocolates. The stuff I picked here was just what worked right for this recipe, but for other flavor profiles, some other things would possibly be more suitable.

I DO think that TFA Lucky Leprechaun and FW White chocolate would likely help for your peanut butter recipes. Another one you should consider is FLV coconut, in tiny doses. its VERY fatty and that fattyness is part of what gives a peanut butter its viscosity.

yellow cake (FW) for the thickness maybe a good choice, use sparingly though.

I tried that, and it lended itself to a dryer thickness. FW cake batter dip worked better between the two but also, I thought, took it away from the shake direction I wanted (although tasted good)

Have you tried Capella Sugar Cookie?

I have tried Cap SC. It was one of my first flavors. I vaped so much out of it that I don't like the taste any longer. Although, it has been some time and I am more experienced. Does CAP Sugar Cookie add a thickness?

Would never have thought to try Lucky Leprechaun in a shake recipe, but I can totally see how it would work really well. It's a flavour I'd kind of forgotten about.

Thanks for the idea, will be trying it in my own strawberry milkshake recipe for sure next time I mix.

Very awesome recipe and notes! I have been wanting to check out FLV Crème de Menthe since I don't like minty stuff but a nice thick coolness would be great to have in my arsenal, so I really appreciate the notes. Been looking at FLV Banana too so it's good to get some input on that. Going to have to check this out soon =)

Any improvements to this recipe I should know about before I order some ingredients for it?
