I know recipe threads are generally required to be submitted into the monthly recipe thread, but I really, really am enjoying this one and wanted to share it with everyone. I think it's one of the tastiest and most unique recipes I've made. So here goes:

BLACKBERRY FIG TOBACCO

• Biscuit (INW) - 1.5%

• Blackberry (TPA) - 1%

• Fig (CAP) - 7.5%

• Tobacco Absolute Virginia (INW) - 2%

• Vanilla Swirl (TPA) - 2.5%

Total Flavoring - 14.5%

Mixed @ 70vg/30pg with 3mg nicotine.

When I placed my very first order for flavorings, almost a year ago, I ordered a bottle of Capella's fig flavoring not knowing what I'd use it for, but it seemed interesting as a flavor profile for vaping. Fast forward to a couple months ago, and I was craving a tobacco flavor. I barely have any experience working with tobacco, but I thought the fig flavor that had been sitting idle for all those months would pair nicely with it. This is a simple recipe, so the notes are pretty simple as well...

The tobacco - Like I said before, I don't have much experience working with tobacco, and only have a couple in my arsenal. Inawera's Absolute Virginia is a simple flavoring. Slightly sweet and slightly floral, which are qualities that mesh well with the rest of the notes in this recipe. At 2% it's just enough to be loud, but not completely overpower the other ingredients.

The fig - Everything I've read pretty much crowns FA Fig as the best, but I decided to go with what I already had. Capella's Fig is surprisingly delicious, as I'm not a big fan of most of their fruity flavors I've tried. I've never tasted a fresh fig, so I can't compare. But I can say that this flavor is very sweet and pretty bold. Almost has a dark berry kind of taste to it. It's quite floral, but in a good way. At the percentage I used, it is the dominant flavor in the recipe. It's not overbearing (at least to my tastebuds), but the sweet and floral notes are definitely prevalent.

The enhancers - I wanted to add a dark berry to help add some depth to the fig. Thought about using FA Bilberry, which I'm sure would work just fine, but I went with TFA Blackberry. It's a strong flavor. At 1% it doesn't stand out on it's own, but helps to boost the sweetness and the dark berry notes I get from the fig. INW Biscuit at 2.5% doesn't stand out as much as I thought it would. I fully expected some of that buttery cookie to shine through, but it ends up giving the tobacco a slightly nutty feel, which I ended up being quite pleased with. TFA Vanilla Swirl is really only here as a blender. It adds a fluffiness and mouthfeel to the recipe.

I recommend at least a 1 week steep time, preferably 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, I think everything was blended together perfectly. Bold and sweet, but not cloying. Taste is subjective however.
