FLAVOR of the Week: ALMOND
submitted over 9 years ago by Helfrd0771Valued Community Coordinator

The purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and it's many uses.

We're not just looking for you to post recipes you have containing the flavor of the week, but looking for you to share your process as you develop a new juice using the flavor of the week.

This should help us all to better understand how certain flavors interact, and give us all a launching point to perhaps discovering new wonderful recipes. Please post new recipes created using this flavor as well as any and all tasting notes as main posts. Thought process is encouraged also.

This thread will NOT be in contest mode so the best flavors and reviews of those should move their way towards the top.

While I definitely encourage you to branch out with this flavor and use some more rare flavors, I would encourage everyone to keep it in mind that others will not be able to try your recipe and comment or offer assistance if they do not have the flavors you are using. I would also encourage you to use this week's flavor as the "main" flavor in your recipe although this is not required.

You BETTER sample and offer tasting notes on your recipe. Good luck to everyone!

This Week's Flavor is: ALMOND

Please note: This includes all melon flavors. Examples : Honeydew, Cantaloupe, Watermelon, and the likes

Unlike in the previous monthly contest thread, I am NOT limiting this to any specific flavor from any specific vendor. After all, our goal here is to come up with perhaps some unique uses of the weekly flavor or combinations others may not have thought of before. This should allow for maximum participation as well!

One of these things is not like the other.

Found it! "the likes" seems like an odd flavor.

Dude, you have to get it. One drop changes any mix into Bronuts.

sigh

Here you go again contributing to my inevitable divorce due to purchasing every flavor under the sun.

The other day I accidentally grabbed some coconut almond chip ice cream instead of the cookie dough. I was pleasantly surprised. Now I have a almond milk/cream vape in my head.

FA Almond is the only pure almond I have. I do have some FA Vanilla Tahitiy that has some almond undertones. So I'll be messing with those.

Maybe something like this, off the top...

Coconut Almond Cream

Ingredient|% :---|---: Almond (FA)|2 Coconut (FA)|1.5 Cream Fresh (FA)|1.5 Meringue (FA)|2 Vanilla Tahity (FA)|2

Flavor total: 9%

Remember to rate it at e-liquid-recipes.com!

Pretty predictable, but I've never made something like it.

If you have it, FA Vienna Cream goes perfectly with FA Almond if you're going for anything with cream in it.

Just got a fresh 4oz of Vienna in the other day. I'll add some of that in there as well.

With the already semi-creaminess of Almond, you'll only need around .5-1%.

I LOVE almond ice cream. Low sugar, high fiber. It's a health nut's binge dessert, and it tastes amazing.

Chocolate almond ice cream

  • Double chocolate clear (tfa) 3%
  • Vanilla bean ice cream (tfa) 3%
  • Almond (fa) 2%
  • Vienna Cream (fa) 1%
  • Torrone (fa) 0.25%
  • Koolada - just a few drops. Use your personal preference

Chocolate on the inhale, smooth ice-cream blend in the middle, dry almond crisp on the exhale.

This is the ice cream if you don't know what I'm talking about

While it is eaten like ice cream, it's a non-dairy dessert. The almond does a great job blending into the recipe and lending its creaminess, rather than looking for that snap or crunch.

You inspired me to find a use for FA Almond. Although I don't have any chocolate, and VBIC tastes like pepper to me, here is a slight alteration with vanilla bean gelato which is tasting pretty good after a day of steeping. I think I may pick up some double chocolate on my next order and give it a try but so far this is pretty good without it.

  • FA Almond 2%
  • TFA Vanilla Bean Gelato 4%
  • FA Torrone 0..25%
  • FA Vienna Cream 1%

Honestly, I created the original recipe in 5 minutes, so there was room for improvement, but it turned out well.

I added 0.5% fresh cream and 0.25% hazelnut, then lowered to vbic to 1.5% from my original recipe.

I think this cleaned up the recipe and made it more of a smoother ice cream. I love vbic, but it's easy to do overboard on it.

I dont have any chocolate flavoring at all (well ok aside from choc glazed donut). Is double chocolate a pretty good flavor in general? is it pretty sweet or more of a bitter dark chocolate?

It's a pretty middle of the road milk chocolate/syrup flavor. It's also the only one I can recommend buying, aside from some speciality chocolate flavors ie. Chocolate glazed donut and Dutch chocolate mint.

Most of the specialty chocolate flavors end up being coil killers though, so I try not to use them if I don't have to.

Damn you! (Thank you) I just put in an order yesterday. Will have to consider adding it on my next order. Hopefully in 3 or 4 month from now (but more likely 2 weeks from now)

I made this up the day you posted and I just tried it for the first time. I must say it is very delicious. Thanks so much for the recipe I finally have a good use for my double chocolate clear, not managed to make it work myself.

I've had trouble making it work well in anything besides a dairy style desert since it gives off that chocolate syrup flavor. Ice cream, milk shake, popsicle, etc tend to work best.

A creamy pastry where you just want a hint of chocolate also works, but it's not perfect.

Glad you liked it and let me know!

FA TORRONE IN EVERYTHINGGGG

But seriously, if you haven't tried FA Torrone, it's a great additive if you want to give almond recipes a nice nougat-ey finish (usually associated with almonds)

Use sparingly!

Torrone is peanut butter's best friend. Everything with peanut butter should have .1% Torrone in it.

1dr/10ml for almost anything bakery. Fantastic flavour.

>Use sparingly!

Can confirm. At 2%, it made my Roman Nougat flavor taste like dishwater.

I'm still working on this one, but I tried to mimic the inside of a Roman Nougat chocolate my girlfriend gave me from one of her assorted chocolate samplers. It is pretty simple, though it needs refinement/tweaking

  • FA Torrone 1%
  • INW Almond 1%
  • INW Cherries 2%
  • INW Raspberry Malina 0.1%

All of these flavors are pretty difficult to work with because they're very powerful, and can bully others quickly.

FA Torrone provides a solid base with its sugary, rich flavor. In too high a concentration, it makes the juice pretty unpleasant. So far, 1% has worked best for me.

INW Almond is definitely my favorite of the almond flavors I've tried so far. It adds that nice almond-y flavor without being super sweet. Goes fantastic with the Torrone.

INW Cherries is a very nice, subtle, non-cough-syrup cherry flavor that blends almost seamlessly with INW Almond. It adds a fruity note without being a super bright flavor. Perhaps FLV's cherry flavor would work well here.

INW Raspberry Malina (Koncentrat), used extremely sparingly (as anyone who has been bullied by this flavor can confirm) because it is ridiculously strong. The little touch of Raspberry gives a nice fruity, berry top note to help balance out the richness of the almond and torrone. I found using this one works better than using Cherries in a higher concentration. I considered using INW Raspberry Wera Garden, but that one seems to have a darker flavor to me. Malina is a brighter flavor, imo.

This recipe still needs tweaking, and I'd appreciate any input. As it stands, I like it a lot, but I'm no pro.

Almond is delicious stuff. Give this a try.

Almond Brandy cake bake

5% CAP Toasted Almond (lovely stuff)

1% LA Brandy (not everyone likes this stuff, but in the right situations, its good to me)

1% FLV Sweet coconut (you could also use a combo of FLV coconut and TFA coconut candy)

1.5% TFA Toasted Marshmallow (for some fluff and extra toasty)

1% TFA BRown Sugar (for glaze)

2% FLV Vanilla Custard (If your going to sub this, aim more towards TFA Vanilla swirl than CAP Vanilla custard)

1% FW Yellow Cake

1.5% FW Cake Batter dip (this and FW yellow cake is my fav cake combo)

Sucralose to taste

Do you think Vanilla Bourbon can be subbed in place of brandy?

3 points

by cannibalcastawayover 9 years ago

vanilla bourbon isnt an alcohol flavor, its a vanilla flavor, so that element WOULD be missing, BUT I could still see it tasting good.

Another question, just how toasted is the toasted almond?

I was just thinking about a recipe that would call for a roasted/smokey flavor

1 points

pretty fuckin toasty. I often use a cobo of cap toasted almond and tfa toasted marshmallow to imbue a toasted flavor to things

###Strawberry Apricot Almond Tart###

Here's one of my first successful recipe I made when starting DIY

  • 1,5% FA Apple Pie
  • 1,25% FA Apricot
  • 1,25% FA Strawberry
  • 0,75% FA Vanilla Tahity
  • 0,5% FA Mazipan
  • 0,5% FA Jamaican rum
  • 0,5% FA Cookie
  • 0,5% TFA Brown Sugar
  • 0,25 FA Coconut

The crust is just right, the apricots are nicely baked and glazed, Marzipan and the almond notes found in Vanilla Tahity brings just the right amount of almond in there. The brown sugar is there to enhance the baked apricot and to add a little more sweetness and the coconut is there just to add a little bit of cloud and extra sweetness to the vape.

Give it a few days for everything to mingle together

Hope you enjoy, I sure did
