First recipe you made that you could vape all day?
submitted over 9 years ago by GlMS

Surprisingly for me it was a tobacco recipe. I've tried some tobacco juices early on when I first started vaping and hated all of them. I bought RY4 not knowing what it was, figured I'd use it.

  • 12.5% RY4
  • 2.5% Graham Cracker clear
  • 2% Acetyl Pyrazine
  • 3% ethyl maltol

Turned out really good right after mixing it. Can't remember where I got the recipe but I wrote it down at some point. I've been in the DIY club for about a month and this is the first time I've made something I could vape more than 30ml of.

What was your first?

My first was a clone of The Dude 70vg/30pg (no idea who contributed this one, thanks random stranger):

  • Juicy Peach TFA 8%
  • Pineapple TFA 5%
  • Mango TFA 2%
  • Ethyl Maltol TFA 3%

Right now I'm loving Arnie's Twinkie and Botboy141's Key Lime Pie, still vaping The Dude everyday though.

Edit to add: Finally found where I saw The Dude recipe on here.

I'm disappointed your favorite ADV isn't pizza related.

I knew I was going to get this comment on the DIYsub eventually when I picked this username. It's actually an American Dad reference from the episode Pulling Double Booty there was this guy who said "to the death" regarding EVERYTHING at a cockfight and his friend called him on it and when the guy tried to defend himself his friend reminded him that the other day he had said "Pizza to the death." and then his friend asked "What's going on with you?" and to the death guy was all: "I really hate my job."

I have a username I use everywhere else in the vaping community (Snowdonia) but when I finally registered on reddit it was taken. Everything else I use for other things was taken too. So while I was just hating everything and wishing it could just be done already I remembered that sad Pizzatothedeath bastard and wonder of wonders it wasn't taken.

If it makes you feel better I really did have pizza just a couple hours ago, it was awesome. If someone comes up with a pizza vape I'll put my money where my username is.

There are plenty of pizza vapes out there. They're all pretty awful.

Words can't describe how much I love you. The dude is my favorite juice of all time and I searched this sub and couldn't find it! I LOVE YOU.

It's dead on but if you're making a 100+ ml batch you'll want to cut that EM back by at least half.

2 points

by SenorBicepsover 9 years ago

May be a noob question but why does making a bigger batch require less of it?

1 points

by SenorBicepsover 9 years ago

Question, is TFA Ethyl Maltol their cotton candy flavoring? Because that's all I could find on nicotineriver

Man I added a little (cap) peanut butter to a Twinkie recipe, and it went next level.

Arnie uses a shit-ton of sucralose! Do you follow his recipe exactly or modify?

2 points

by [deleted]over 9 years ago

When I make someones recipe I always give them the benefit of the doubt and mix it AS IS before modifying it in any way. I think it's important to get a feel for what the mixer intended it to be and if they failed maybe try to discern what they were going for, figure out why it sucks ect. This has indeed led to some tossed bottles. Now that I've mixed longer there are juices I automatically modify simply because I can't vape the results of a certain ingredients, strawberry (in strawberry cream/custard blends) and FA Joy.

Arnie's Twinkie is sweet af, but he totally had something there, it does taste like a twinkie and twinkies are way too sweet so I think he was just going for authenticity. I don't even eat Twinkies because of how sweet they are but I guess I wanted to see how close he could replicate one. After that first mix I toned it down to 1.5%, which is still very sweet but just enough to keep me hitting it like crazy.

Gotcha. I've noticed that all of his recipes are like that. There's no way in hell I want to re-wick THAT much!

Yeah next payday I'm gonna order alot of flavorings and some more stuff lol it's pretty easy mixing fluid

by theonlychadover 9 years agoOne of "The Damned"

I just bought the stuff to make this sounds awesome. How many ml of each for the flavors? Also is this for a 30ml batch?

1 points

by [deleted]over 9 years ago

The percentage will stay the same no matter the size of the batch. You'll want to use an ejuice calculator and input the flavors and percentages of each, that will tell you how much of everything to put in your juice depending on how much you want to make and at what nic level. I suggest downloading the eJuice Me Up calculator, it's a lot more user friendly than most.

Thank you man I'm a newbie to diy and have been studying lol. I bought a premixed base so all I have to do is add the flavorings lol.

Do you have a copy of the specific clone you love? I have one I've been using and will post it here when not mobile.

  • 15% Cap vanilla custard v1
  • 2% TPA dulche de leche
  • 2% EM

I tried with up to 5% EM can't taste the difference from 2%

When I order supplies the first time I got the stuff for Mustard Milk (turns out I hate VBIC, it tastes super dry to me) Aqua Berry Blast This recipe is kinda a mess, but is ok on an occasion. And on a last second whim got the flavors for the popular Nana Cream Clone. I'm so glad I had that whim, I think I'd have given up on DIY if it wasn't for Nana Cream. I can suck that stuff down all day without thinking about it. I've since found other recipes I like, but every time I sit down to make large batches one of them is always Nana Cream.

This is the first recipe I couldn't find one single damn thing wrong with. Not a note I would change. Rare perfection. /u/returnity's Cinapple Fritter. https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/3jt020/a_joyous_occasion_perfected_my_apple_fritter/?

Thank you for the kickass recipe. Just last night mixed up 60ml more for myself, and a 15ml sampler to give to my dad when he comes to dinner tomorrow. :-)

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm happy people like it, but I can't take credit for all of it. This community is the reason I've been able to get as far with mixing as I have, and I'm very grateful to be a part of this subreddit. I've been away for a while now (I moved & changed jobs this past month), but I'll be around more, modding more actively & posting recipes from my mixing backlog again. Thanks for the kind words.

by abdadaover 9 years agoI will rip you a new one if you don't use the sidebar & search.

That's the Tribeca - Halo clone from here although it calls for Double RY4.

My ADVs are always and everchanging. Last week I was on single flavor mixes. It's nice to reset the old palate.

Yes! I've been looking for that list again since I got my concentrates

by vapaioloover 9 years ago

That's actually a great idea. I might give that a go this week...what single flavors have you been vaping out of curiosity?

1 points

by abdadaover 9 years agoI will rip you a new one if you don't use the sidebar & search.

Guava today. Peach yesterday.

by vapaioloover 9 years ago

My problem is that I'm hooked on dessert profiles. Most of which include some kind of cream or custard as background notes. Single flavored bakery flavors wouldn't work, realistically. I always try to convince my palate to enjoy fruit flavors, but it just gets bored and craves the sweet stuff. Even the fruit recipes I make have some sort of dessert nuances in them.

All TFA:

  • 4% dairy milk
  • 6% key lime
  • 8% Graham cracker clear

+/- 2% on each depending on my mood and inventory

/u/Discchord 'Nana Cream DX from the TFA only recipes thread, mixed 30ml last night right away, quick and easy shake and vape, feels softer on the flavor now but that might just be my mouth as I've been vaping this non stop.

by Discchordover 9 years agoConfirmed Kills: XXX

Yeah I notice the flavor starts to fade if you vape it exclusively for too long... And that is definitely a recipe you can vape for too long! I try to vape different stuff throughout the day to avoid that. Usually just vaping a little of something else for an hour will make it pop again.

My first adv was a adaptation of mustard milk to make it more like a shortcake. I like it, but it is a wip to remove the Vbic for a cream. Yes there are diketones but I'm ok with that.

I swapped to strawberry ripe +sweet strawberry because I wanted a sweeter glazed like strawberry. I added the biscuit as its the closest to a sugared biscuit I could find(not a fan of angel food cake shortcake)

  • Sweet Strawberry (Cap) 2%

  • Strawberry (Ripe) (TFA) 5%

  • Biscuit (INW) 2%

  • Vanilla Bean Ice Cream 5%

  • Marshmallow (TFA) .5% (for a bit more sweet and mouthfeel)

I mix it 70/30 and I love it. The longer the steep the better it gets imo. Next changes will be adding a splash of dragonfruit to the mix to see where it takes it. Then on to the cream substitution...

Peach, Capella 4%

Black Tee, TFA 3,5%

I use various makes of peach to find the best. I haven't found one so far which would be perfect.

I use low %, if u are used to higher % mixes you know what to do...

The same is possible with lemon. However the lemon flavors I bought weren't that good...

I got the idea from premixed juices which named them ice tee peach & ice tee lemon

1 points

by HocusKrokusover 9 years agoMixologist

I got lucky my first few mixing sessions. I made my first recipes alongside two or three recipes that I found here and my very first adv came from that first batch.

Harvest Custard

  • Harvest Berry (CAP) 5%

  • Vanilla Custard V1 (CAP) 3%

  • Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TFA) 2%

  • New York Cheesecake (CAP) 2%

Pretty good right off the bat but pretty awesome after 2-3 weeks.

I don't know how many of y'all ever listened to 'the vapor cast' back with the guys were doing it (now they run niquid), but they were the ones that got me into DIY back when dual coils cartos were all the rage. Still one of my favorite flavors was one they gave the recipe away for on the show called 'Adam's Apple', which was something along the lines of 7-8% green apple and two drops of menthol drops per ml. It was cold and fresh and damnit it tasted great in a carto, and still does.

I miss those vapor cast guys, that was a great podcast.

First one I made that was a good ADV was a cherry cola

  • TFA Cola Syrup 9%
  • TFA Black Cherry 3.5%

It's funny because that was my first iteration of that, and with any thing I try to up the game a bit I can't seem to get it better than the first one. Maybe it's just pride that makes that one unbeatable to me =P

2 points

by stuffinvapesover 9 years ago

Have you tried FW cola? I love that stuff on its own but it's also pretty amazing with TFA gummy and TFA Bavarian cream for a cola gummy recipe I've been making.

2 points

by CheebaSteebaover 9 years agoFrugivore

I haven't, maybe I'll give it a go. Is it clear? I tried FA Cola but I seem to like TFAs offering better. Sometimes I use a bit of FA to spice up the TFA.

It's not clear but it's pretty smooth tasting. It seems to have a bit of a lemony citrus bite. It's nice

  • Berry Crunch TFA 2%

  • Marshmallow TFA 2%

  • I love this stuff

a clone of snake oil...not sure how accurate it is since ive never had the real thing, but its been my adv for prob 11 months. its not the most amazing juice in the world but its light enough and has a nice throat hit.

tfa pear 7%, tfa bav cream 5%, tfa coconut 1.5% (i think...i stopped adding it since i couldnt taste it anymore after a month or 2. it just seemed like a waste).
