Alright, I used the search function and read every single post that has the words "oba oba" in them. There were not many results. Mostly just recipes that contained the flavor with virtually no discussion on the flavor itself. On ELR, (unless I'm awful at using that site's search function, which is a possibility), there are only 2 public recipes that contain oba oba. So, if you have used it before, I want to know what you think.
To me, it tastes/ smells exactly like the cream soda dum-dum suckers I used to love when I was younger. I read reviews on a few sites that say its a tobacco-ey flavor? Idk, there really isn't much out there on it.
The reason I ask, is because I've been tasked by my dad to try to come up with a good orange creamsicle recipe. I know there's a bunch of those recipes floating around, but I wanted to try to do something a little different. I really feel like oba oba can have a really nice spot in that flavor profile. I don't have the recipe with me right now, but if anyone is interested in what I have so far (which I honestly think smells/ tastes pretty damn good), I'll post it when I get off work.

Oba Oba is certainly a strange one. I don't get any tobacco note from it. I do agree with most of the other comments regarding the citrus / marshmallow / flat cream soda. I use it at low percentages to add mouth feel.
Its certainly hard to pin down. The only other time I can think of that flavor is the dum dum suckers. Not sure if you can picture what I'm talking about, but to me its spot on. Thanks for the advice though, I'm definitely looking forward to working with this flavor a bit more

FA has some pretty vague descriptions haha. This one actually is pretty descriptive compared to Joy I guess. I definitely don't pick up any eggnog though, but it seems to be somewhat common
I used the following recipe from HIC, removed the ginger, and added oba oba, and I really enjoy it. I do 1.5% oba oba. It's a lighter recipe so you can adjust if you like heavier flavors but I found it quite enjoyable.
1% Nature's Flavors Organic Ginger
1% FlavourArt Custard
1% FlavourArt Vienna Cream
1% FlavourArt Fresh Cream
1% FlavourArt Butterscotch
1% FlavourArt Vanilla Tahiti (Vanilla Classic could be substituted)
Vaping it single flavor right now. What I am getting note wise: tobacco with mts wizard no sharpness, earthy, berry ish, marshmallow, fruity at times. Definitely plays with your taste buds. It has a familiar taste that I cannot nail down. Sorry for my crappy notes:)
I don't get tobacco from it, but, I get where people get that, because the exhale can remind me, a little bit, of a fresh, unopened pack of girly cigarettes (like Eve or Capris).
It nicely rounds out sharp, bitey fruits like citrus, pineapple and pear, and I keep hearing about this mystical pairing with TPA Hpno Type that people love, but, I've yet to find a definitive recipe on that anywhere.
I haven't yet made it into a single mix, I just haven't had the time to really play with it too much. That's on my to-do list for the weekend though, hopefully then I'll get to pick up some of these harsher tobacco-esque notes
I don't think you'll get any harsh notes, per se, but that oddly appealing unlit tobacco freshness was definitely there on the exhale of the tester I made up.
More than anything, though, was just this soft, sweet candy taste that I couldn't quite put my finger on. "Smarties" comes close, I suppose, in a nondescript, sugar-muted, non-tangy citrus way.
I'm really glad this post caught my eye, though, because it reminds me to get back to figuring out something to do with Oba Oba.
I love this stuff. I use it in custards and 'creme brulee' type recipes. I haven't yet nailed someting down good enough with it to put into one of my lines, so I mainly vape it myself.
To me, it reminds me of something used in custard eggnogs at the supermarket. I can't quite put it into words, but its kind of that citrusy creamy component that 'traditional' or homemade eggnog lacks when compared to a custard based type you find at the super market.
Its not a straight tobacco flavor, but it brings tobacco flavor forward. After it steeps, There is a hint of something tobacco'esq in it, but its not noticeable unless you're looking for it imo.
Im using this in an orange and lemon cream similar to an orange creamsicle, and it works well for mouthfeel and softness.
In my eyes, Oba Oba's more suitable as fill, and less as a primary flavor. It provides a nice mouthfeel. Like liquid marshmallow has little flavor, but has mouthfeel.
There is a citric bite to it which is hard to work around though. Something like grapefruit.

I use it in my loops recipe in my experinec creamy citrus(although more of a bitter rind kinda thing) is right on the money, as others have said its more of a supporting or background note. i dont know what dum dum soda is being Australian, i suspect the bitterness of it is giving that soda feel. It plays really well with bergamot. As far as soda goes the closest thing i can think of is chinoto (im working on this but its fucking hard ><) any way its an awsome tool to have on hand. Thanks, I didn't see the second two links you posted when I just searched for oba oba. I saw the first one, but it seems like its pretty bare as far as information goes. Idk, maybe I'm just hoping for too much info. Either way, thanks taking the time
I've never tried it myself. I bought some and then someone needed it so I sent my bottle to them and never got to crack it open.
It appears most people use it minimally -- 0.25% to 1.5%. One commenter said 4% tastes like hay. Which might not be a bad thing in some mixes.
