Anyone tried both TFA and CAP Vanilla Cupcake? I would like to know if they're swappable
submitted over 9 years ago by Tepoztecatl

I would normally just prepare the two and find out but I don't have the TFA version and have never tried it. I'm specifically looking to make the White Gremlin recipe from gremlin (10% TPA Van Cupcake; 8% TPA Strawberry Ripe; 2% FW White Choclate). Thanks a lot to anyone who can help!

There's almost no one that has discussed this really:

Cap V1 blows TFA out of the water consistently, so I'd try CAP for sure.

Yeah, that's the most I could find too. I think the "worse" that will happen is that it will be tasty although not quite the same, but I don't know much about each flavoring's interactions with the others, which is why I thought it was important to provide context as to what I want to make. Have you made that recipe? Did you like it?

I like the real Gremlin juice well enough but I'm trying to wean off of bakery and custards right now (and not doing to well at that).

Haven't tried his recipe but I trust him that it's exactly right.

That wasn't meant to be snarky, though. I mean it -- there just aren't a ton of good comparison threads on these two.

I personally prefer TFA because it isn't as thick and rich as CAP, but CAP IMHO is a much much superior flavor.

I forgot you are on the nice kick. Still, it's nice to see that you consistently post, even when others don't. I appreciate your contributions. And the snark. Love it.

I have TFA and CAP v2 Vanilla Cupcakes. I must say that neither hit the mark for me -- they are both very light in flavor. However, Cap's version has more of the "sour" thing going on, but I just don't like needing to use more than 7% of any flavor to get anything out.

/u/abdada recommends CAP v1, which I now must try... to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me that it is actually the best available... when comparing a v2 to a v1 from Cap's library, v1 almost always knocks v2 out of the park.

V2 gets outstanding reviews on all the sites i have seen it on , was extremely surprised and since more and more people are vaping diketone free flavorings it's no wonder it sells so well .

I never push anything on anyone -- if you want to vape with diketone-free concentrates, no problem. When I first started DIY, I bought strictly D-free flavorings, as I was quite concerned with "popcorn lung" and the like. But since tasting with-diketone concentrates, I've really loosened this rule of mine up to the point that I just use whatever tastes the best.

Well, looky here: just got some vape mail with CAP Vanilla Cupcake v1... I'll report back when I do a back-to-back mixing of the v1 and v2.

Making a buy, can i get a v1 v2 report?

People shouldn't always be told that all V2 sucks is my point , some people like to repeat that constantly and that is their opinion .

Being neutral is the best way to deal with it , i like both types and have a lot of both types .

Sometimes i like one type and sometimes i prefer another type depending on recipe and what i am looking for.

I've made this 2 or 3 times so far. Minus the white choco. and sub with other flavors, its pretty darn good.

Everything is swappable. The result will be a different recipe, and it will taste different.
