Another Cereal Recipe (Saturday Mornings)
submitted over 9 years ago by DavesnothearMixologist

It has been a long time since I have posted a recipe; and so I thought why not post my favorite cereal recipe so far. Friends of mine go crazy over it and I have personally vaped this more than I would like to admit. The flavoring total hits %20 and it has a lot of flavors to it that some may not have all of.

This is a Fruit Loop based cereal with a creamy milk base and touch of almond. It is delicious! You need to let this steep for 4+ days for it to really come together. I myself do not heat steep. I simply leave it alone for a few days.

Saturday Mornings

Ingredients|Ing %| :---|---:|---:|---:|---: Captain Cereal (TFA)|3.00%|36.0|1.865 g|1.800 ml Fresh Cream (FlavorArt)|1.50%|18.0|0.932 g|0.900 ml Fruit Rings (FW)|6.00%|72.0|3.730 g|3.600 ml Meringue (FlavorArt)|1.50%|18.0|0.932 g|0.900 ml Nectarine (TFA)|1.75%|21.0|1.088 g|1.050 ml Ripe Strawberry (TFA)|2.00%|24.0|1.243 g|1.200 ml Almond (FlavorArt)|0.30%|3.6|0.186 g|0.180 ml Bavarian Cream (TFA)|1.50%|18.0|0.932 g|0.900 ml Malted Milk (TFA)|0.30%|3.6|0.186 g|0.180 ml Bing Cherry (Flavorah)|0.15%|1.8|0.093 g|0.090 ml Marshmallow (FA)|0.75%|9.0|0.466 g|0.450 ml Rice Crunchies (TFA)|1.00%|12.0|0.622 g|0.600 ml Marzipan (FlavorArt)|0.25%|3.0|0.155 g|0.150 ml

Cereal Notes: | ------------|**

Captain Cereal (TFA) - This is more of a crunch berry but heavier on the Grainy/Cereal side.

Fruit Rings (FW) - I detest the TFA Fruit Circles! FW makes a really good Fruit Loop flavor and has become a staple in any cereal juice I make. This is heavier on the "Fruit" Side with very little in the way of grainy/cereal notes.

Rice Crunchies (TFA) - This is a weird flavor. It has just a little bit of grainy rice flavor. It however gives juice a "mouthfeel" about it. It is hard to explain but works really well in this recipe.

Additional Fruit Notes: | -----------------------|**

Nectarine (TFA) - This is a great flavor from TFA that I decided to try on a whim in this recipe after seeing it used in another cereal based recipe. You gotta be careful because Nectarine will overpower other flavors easily if you used too much. It also has a slight tartness that gives the other fruits a slight pop.

Ripe Strawberry (TFA) - This adds a bit more of depth to the fruit loops. Using at a low percentage as to not overpower other fruits.

Bing Cherry (Flavorah) - The best cherry flavor from any manufacture is FLAVORAH! This is a strong (non medicinal) cherry and I added it in v3+ of this recipe. It isn't necessary but it adds a great backend flavor to the other fruits. It is a strong flavor as well so .15 is just enough not to make it noticeable without coming to the forefront.

Milk Base: | ----------|**

Fresh Cream (FA) - Who doesn't have this! Adds a cream layer minus sweetness.

Meringue (FA) - The sweetener to the cream base.

Almond (FA) - Adds a slight almond taste to the cream base. And used to boost the almond flavor from Marzipan

Bavarian Cream (TFA) - Adds a sweet vanilla flavor to the cream base. Also contains Ethyl Maltol. Used in low percentage to add the slight vanilla flavor without muting other flavors too much.

Marshmallow (FA) - Adds more of a mouthfeel at lower percentage and helps soften harshness of other flavors. It is a staple flavor I use alot.

Marzipan (FA) - Almond and Sugar. Not sure how else to describe it. used in a low amount to add sweetness and almond overtones.

Malted Milk (TFA) - Adds a thick malty/grainy feel to the juice. Used in too much can overpower flavor.

Looks good!

I think there's a typo btw. Recipe says TFA Marsh, notes say FA Marsh.

Thanks for catching that.

Dammit you've just added a bunch more flavours to my shopping list so I can try this.

Great to see FLV Bing Cherry getting some love as an accent flavour. I've been experimenting with it as a main fruit flavour with custards/creams and tobaccos, it's amazing stuff and another must have from FLV.

What have you done with it if you don't mind me asking? I haven't been able to plug it in anywhere or figure out a primary percentage

tbh not got a mix I'm totally happy with yet but it has so much potential. Baseline for me is 1% which brought it to the front as a primary fruit flavour with a simple custard/cream base - nice like that but needed something else to compliment / round out the cherry. A little FLV Orange Citrus, FLV Coconut or FA Fig maybe?

Main thing I want it for is a cherry tobacco, again still experimenting on something based around FA Glory but I can see it working well with FA Almond / Nut Mix, FLV Coconut, maybe FA Whiskey and Oakwood. 1.5% Bing Cherry was almost too much in a a fairly strong Dark Vapure/Perique mix, so it's potent stuff.

Never tried the TFA Necatarine before. You say it over powers other flavors easily, yet you have it in here at close to 2%. Is that pretty standard, or would it be something like .5% in most recipes?

Well it is TFA (Not as conenctrated as some flavor manufacturers). 1.75% is just the perfect amount for this recipe. I tried it with 3% and it tended to overpower.

How would say FLV Bing Cherry compares with INW cherries? Candy like? Natural?

I have never tried INW Cherries. FLV to me is cross between the two natural/candy.

I like the use of cherry in kids cereal type recipe, definitely adds a bit of authenticity for a fruit loops profile.

You really should get a bottle of INW Cherries. Tasting it on my finger, it wasn't very appealing. I used it in a juice yesterday though, and it is pretty amazing. Incredibly fruity without having a medicine flavor. Not exactly a cherry candy either, just a really nice fresh cherry flavor. I used it in a bomb pop recipe I'm in the process of refining. I had tried it once before, but ruined the batch with too much torrone (nougat)

In my (limited) experience, it seems the flavor isn't all that strong, and started to come out around the 1.5%-2% mark. It works really well with INW Raspberry Malina (Koncentrat), where the Raspberry is around .25%

It gets stronger with a steep, even 0.50% is pretty noticeable for me, though I'd agree you could push it as high as 2.00% if you want it as a dominant front note.

I just reupped some flavors and added it to my cart. I don't have very much experience with inawera, but the few flavors I have from them are really good.

Excited to try it.

Looks delicious and so excited it doesn't have any inawera!

What's the issue with Inawera?

by juice_junkieover 9 years ago

It just doesn't work well with me. I guess my taste buds give me a chemical like back taste every time I use inawera. Just my opinion.

Thanks. Have everything but Bing cherry. I'll get that on my next order, but mixed it w/out for now. For some reason, I always read your name as Daves not a bear.

Lol. I am also not a bear as well. You will be OK without the Bing cherry I think. It adds a bit more depth that would be worth trying with next time.
