I've noticed FW Gummy Candy seems to round out those bright/sharp candy flavors. I think this could be as useful as marshmallow is to many recipes. I'be been commisioned to make a sweet tart recipe and I added FW Gummy Candy at 1.5% and TFA Marshmallow (for good meaure) at 1%. Its a great foundation, it adds a fullness and quality I can't quite explain.
Does anyone have any thoughts/experience/opinions on this?
Yes, as I've experimented with a couple of twizzler/red vine recipes in the past.
Gummy Candy, as a standalone, is very harsh but has a lot of volume. I sometimes find it hard to incorporate Gummy Candy without something like Marshmallow to smooth it out. Together, it's an addicting combo, but I still sense that the bite from Gummy Candy stands out even after a good steep.
You might be better off finding a sweeter flavor with less body, and then using marshmallow for the body of the flavor, rather than using gummy candy. Mind sharing the recipe for me to take a look?
Im not happy with the flavor or the results. Too low of a flavor profile but still an undesirable flavor (for me at least). I saw recommendations for higher percentages of the Sweet Tart but I thought I could get away with lower. Guess I was wrong.
FW Sweet Tarts - 5.5 TFA Sweet and Tart - 1.5 FW Gummy Candy - 1.5 TFA Marshmallow - 1.5 TFA Dragon Fruit - 0.7
2 weeks of curing and still no dice
This also works well with TFA swedish gummy, TFA gummy bear, and low amounts of CAP bubble gum.
Yes it does! But careful with the TFA Gummy Candy. A little gives this amazing gummy candy body to fruits. Too much turns it into plastic fruit. I've found that it takes less Gummy Candy to go from delicious candy to nasty burning plastic at higher wattage too.
I think i little FW Gummi turns FA white peach into a juicy peach, dripping wet.
Ahhh. A peach.. I could eat a peach all day..
Walt from RF sells a candifier that is similar to gummy candy flavors and makes natural fruits taste more like candy. I imagine any gummy candy flavor will have this effect!
Gummy's main components is always benzaldehyde which in higher amounts adds an oily/sticky mouthfeel to flavors. In smaller amounts it is usually used in cherry and almond flavors.
Wow, thanks for this post, I don't have this flavor so the smoother/rounding effect it has is something I wasn't previously aware of. Every time I place a big order at BCV I find out about 3 flavors I wish I had ordered almost immediately afterwards. This one is going on the list for next months order.
