"First Order Flavor" Survey Results...
submitted over 9 years ago by EizoozOne of "The Damned"

So i did a survey about the best flavors to recommend to a newbie (similar to this), 52 of you responded and here are the results:

Flavoring|Votes :-:|:-: TFA STRAWBERRY RIPE|18 CAP VANILLA CUSTARD V1|15 TFA BAVARIAN CREAM|11 TFA DRAGON FRUIT|9 TFA VANILLA SWIRL|9 FA FUJI|8 TFA VANILLA BEAN ICE CREAM|8 CAP SWEET STRAWBERRY|7 LA BANANA CREAM|7 CAP NEW YORK CHEESECAKE|6 TFA STRAWBERRY|6 FA MERINGUE|5 FW YELLOW CAKE|5 TFA CHEESECAKE GRAHAM CRUST|5 TFA PEAR|5 FA COOKIE|4 FA VIENNA CREAM|4 INW BISCUIT|4

also in picture form, this list includes all the flavorings that got more than 3 votes.

The top 3 are of no surprise to me. It is interesting that CAP VCV1 scored so high, probably due to the diacetyl fiasco being less prevalent.

The next 3 are really interesting. Vanilla Swirl is amazing, but Fuji and Dragonfruit are IMO, difficult. I guess this is just a case of me having a weird palette, but i was surprised by this. Anyways, there are the results, unsurprisingly like the Top Twenty first order flavors in the sidebar.. anyways, if people want to keep taking the survey, feel free. It's at ~50 responses right now and if it hits like 75 i'll re-sort the data and edit this post with the results.

My process for sorting the data was fairly simplistic, i downloaded the results in CSV and opened in excel, stripped the values out to a text document and then used find/replace to fix things like TFA vs TPA. I then wrote a script that counted through the text file and generated another CSV which had to be manually checked for misspellings and stuff. You guys suck at spelling/following instructions. I spent like ~20 minutes finding all the "CAP Vanila Custard"s and "INAWERA"s... anyways, theres the results!

Perhaps these shouldn't be called "first order" flavors. I feel like it's a newbie trap. We should call them "beginner" flavors, so newbies will instead purchase a recipe or two as their first order.

Finally a list of flavors that doesn't cause me to go flavor shopping.

VC1 should be on top, I think /u/enyawreklaw used alts to vote up the ripe.

Why is VC1 preferred over VC2?

Butyric acid aka the smell of vomit. VC2 has it, VC1 doesn't. I actually don't get the vomit taste, but others aren't so lucky. Still prefer VC1 slightly.

Makes sense. I had 8ml of vc2. I didn't notice it. I'll have to try vc1 for the next go around

Did you read the old first flavor order list?

yes, but i decided to go with recipes, instead of recommended first flavors. for instance, i don't like most dragonfruit, pear, or peach flavored foods or drinks. i am not planning on a cheesecake-like flavor, nor anything i could think of a graham cracker/crust would be needed. so instead i decided to try recipes that sound like the flavor profile i know i enjoy. strawberry banana, orange creamesicle, gummy bears, and coffee... just because i can, i grabbed some chai tea stuff to.

That's probably a better place to start anyway.

I think that is a damn solid list, compared to what I placed as a first order before I knew what I was doing... I would have been flying if I purchased all that instead.

For beginners, if they wanna order more than a couple of flavors, best way is to look at this flavor list.

(sorted by the number of recipes they are used in)
