Peach yogurt recipe not creamy/yogurty enough.
submitted over 9 years ago by tempo_119Mixologist

Hey all. I'm hoping a few of you expert mixers can take a look at the following recipe and offer some advice on how I can bring the yogurt to the front of the flavor profile and set the peach back a bit. I've already bumped the yogurt a point and brought back the peach a bit. Not sure if I should keep following this trail or swap out some ingredients. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Ingredient | ml | Drops | % ---|---|----|----|---- Nicotine juice 100 mg (100% PG) | 6.6 | 231 | 6 PG dilutant | 1485 | 520 | 13.5 VG dilutant | 77 | 2695 | 70 Total base | 98.45 | 3446 | 89.5 Cream Fresh (FA) | 0.55 | 20 | .5 Juicy Peach (TPA) | 0.55 | 20 | .5 Marshmallow (TPA) | 0.55 | 20 | .5 Peach (Flavorah) | 1.1 | 39 | 1 Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TPA) | 2.2 | 77 | 2 Vanilla Swirl (TPA) | 1.1 | 39 | 1 White Peach (FA) | 1.1 | 39 | 1 Yogurt (FA) | 4.4 | 154 | 4 Totals | 110 | 3854 | 100

Hmm, looks like the recipe generally needs simplifying. Here's what I'd try:

Flavor | Ratio ---|--- Juicy Peach TPA | 0.5 White Peach FA | 1.0 Yogurt FA | 3.0 Vanilla Swirl TPA | 1.0

It seems like the vanillas in the original recipe are masking the yogurt, both in terms of flavor and in terms of the inherent sourness that the yogurt has. Marshmallow, especially, has a strong sweetness that would overpower the sourness of the yogurt.

I kept Vanilla Swirl in there to give the creamy mouthfeel without affecting overall flavor too much.

If you want actual vanilla flavor in the mix, I'd suggest adding some Vanilla Tahity FA at about 1% or so, instead of the more complex VBIC.

Or just replace the yogurt with FLV yogurt. I find FA's to be more sour, as if meant to be used as an additive to creams to make them yogurty instead of a base. FLV yogurt is very creamy and slightly sour, making a decent yogurt base.

I find FA Yogurt pairs up really well with TFA Dairy/Milk.

I think it's the Vanilla Swirl and the VBIC.

You don't want those in there, they'll just muddle the tang of the yogurt with too much heavyness.

Try it without them and perhaps only 3 or 3.5% yogurt. It starts to get a bit of a strange aftertaste above 4%.

I'm no expert, but I think your problem is you've got a lot going on there. Maybe dial back the flavors to the strongest 4-5 and work from there. Maybe 1-1.5% of FA Fresh Cream as one of those 4-5 would help bring out the creaminess.

EDIT: oops, wasnt looking at the recipe, turns out you already have it in there. I'd say pick 2-3 cream flavors and 2 peach flavors

You have two choices.

Add yogurt or decrease peach.

If you add yogurt, consider TPA Greek Yogurt or Capella Creamy Yogurt to the mix. Sometimes I find that mixing two similar flavours from different companies really complements the flavor.

i just mixed up 3% Joghurt FA and 2% Forest Fruit FA, after 2 weeks its quite deliciously yoghurty with a hint of berries. Quite nice. For the next iteration I added 1% Cream Fresh FA and 0.5% Marshmallow TPA, hope the marshmallow doesn't kill the flavor.

Have a bottle of Greek Yogurt TPA in the mail, will need to experiment with mixing the TPA and FA variants.

Nonetheless, I love the joghurt/fruit flavor profiles. Nice to see others working on them!

I would consider trying FW yogurt. I've been on a yogurt kick lately and have tried FA, TPA, CAP, FLV and FW. I found that 5% FW plus 1% FLV greek yogurt works best for me. I gave up on FA pretty quickly. Might have to give it second chance tho.

Thanks, guys. Can anyone comment on the flavor profiles/strengths of the other yogurts mentioned in this thread?
