This is a change that was made nearly a month and a half ago, but it doesn't seem like many people read the rules regularly. The point of this post is to address and inform everyone that
##link posts are turned off for the subreddit. All posts that are links are automatically removed by the spam filter, not moderator action.
The reasoning behind this change, if the daily users remember, was the amount of sexy-times spam we were receiving daily. These posts were being made at times that the mods were not on, so they would spend upwards of 8 hours on the sub. With a sub as slow as this one, that means a spam link(more than likely leading to malware) was sitting on the front page for 8 hours and that's unacceptable. The most reasonable course of action was to set the spam filter on link posts to max. I'm sorry for the inconvenience that this places on people linking to DIY sites and Youtube.
The way around this is simple, just create a text post describing what the video is/question you have, then link the site in the post. Once again, I'm sorry that this change wasn't communicated to you all well enough.

Personally I prefer link posts be filtered, so you'll get no hate from me. I don't come to this sub for pics or vids. I come for tasting notes, recipes, and suggestions.
This.
I don't come here for pics/videos typically. There have been informative pics/videos(see:DIYORDIE), but them having to just link the pic or video works just fun.
I'm not interested in all of those local singles trying to have sex, my girlfriend would get super pissed at me if I was.
99% of the posts on this sub I click on aren't links, anyway.
Essentially agreeing with Hitler,

All you need to do is create an automod rule which removes posts from accounts newer than 2 days.
I don't mind setting this up and then unmodding if you aren't comfortable configuring automoderator.
The problem is that none of the active mods have the ability to adjust automod's priveleges. It's already in his code, but he doesn't have removal priveleges. :/
Automod doesn't have to be a mod anymore, it's built into reddit. As long as you have "wiki" and "config" privileges you can do it. You just have to edit the configuration here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_ejuice/wiki/edit/config/automoderator (when I click that it shows nothing but when you click that you should see a text box for configuration)
Add this:
type: submission
author:
account_age: "< 1 days"
action: remove
action_reason: account less than one day old
and it should automatically remove all posts from new accounts. This is actually better since those sex spammers have taken to posting self posts instead of links recently.
Yes we do. We can adjust whatever we want.
I will tell you that we have this turned on in /r/Cleveland though and it's a real PITA. I think the way you've set it up now is fine.
It was changed a while ago so automod doesn't even have to be a mod, it's just part of the reddit code. Is it possible it's set up wrongly?
It should be running from https://pay.reddit.com/r/Drugs/wiki/edit/config/automoderator/
