Looking to make my DIY simpler. With hundreds of flavors and dozens of suppliers DIY is more hit and miss than ever... Which flavors do you fall back on when your experiments flounder? Or, which do you think have the greatest range and versatility?
Bonus round: What are your "Ridiculous Six?" Flavors that just ruin anything you put them in, seemingly regardless of what % used.
CAP Vanilla Custard V1
TFA Cheesecake (Graham Crust)
TFA Strawberry Ripe
TFA Vanilla Swirl
TFA Bavarian Cream
TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
CAP Sugar Cookie
That there is my staple. I usually have one or the other in pretty much all of my recipes
This post and those like it tell me we probably need another update to the favorite flavors thread from a year ago.
A handful of us worked on an updated list a couple months back. I forgot what /u/skiddlzninja said he was waiting for.
- TFA VBIC
- FW Yellow Cake
- CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl
- FA Lemon Sicily
- INW Shisha Strawberry
- TFA Blueberry Extra
- FA Yogurt
Have you tried FW blueberry? I haven't tried blueberry extra but interested to see how they compare. I kinda hate blueberry wild and REALLY hate INW blueberry so my blueberry mixes are a little one-note these days.
I have not tried FW Blueberry yet. I've had TFA Blueberry Candy, TFA Blueberry Extra, and INW Blueberry. INW Blueberry is dreadful. It has a cough drop flavor to it, even at low concentrations. I doubt I'll use the remaining 9.6mL in my 10mL bottle. TFA Blueberry candy isn't quite as rich or true to actual blueberry as extra is, but it has a sweeter flavor. I haven't paired the two together yet to see how they play together.
Bonus Round-
- TFA Honey
- TFA Oatmeal Cookie
- TFA Raisin
- FA Blackberry
- CAP Sweet Tea
- FA Summer Clouds
We should have DIY Chopped where someone is given 3 good ingredients + 1 of these types of flavor and they have to make it work.
care to enlighten me on your use of oatmeal cookie? i tried combining it with cap sugar cookie and cheesecake graham but it wasn't so good.
Bonus Round, meaning terrible flavors that ruin anything you put them in. Oatmeal cookie is pretty high up there when it comes to flavors that taste like something entirely different from what they describe.
Seeing this list really wants to make me say challenge accepted. At the same time my brain also says wtf are you thinking!
At the current point in time I could make a few pretty damn good juices from the following...
- TFA Strawberry
- TFA Apricot
- TFA Honeydew
- TFA Cola Syrup
- TFA Gummy Candy
- TFA Bavarian Cream
- TFA VBIC
...but ask me again in a week and I'm sure it'll change! :)
- Vienna Cream (FA)
- Strawberry Ripe (TFA)
- Vanilla Classic (FA)
- Lemon Sicily (FA)
- Acetyl Pyrazine 5% (TFA)
- Peach (FA)
- Cookie (FA)
The flavouring that ruins anything for me is Dulce De Leche. Can't stand it at even .5% haha
- TFA Strawberry Ripe, because it is amazing. Straight up.
- TFA Blueberry Wild, because it's a light, delicious blueberry.
- FA Meringue, because it goes in (almost) everything. I love creams and this partners well with most all of them.
- FA Fuji, because it is ridiculously good. Fuji + almost any fruit is great.
- FA Cookie, because I haven't tried INW Biscuit yet... And I love Cookie. I love bakery vapes and a bit goes in most all of mine.
- FW Yellow Cake, because it's a great fuggen cake. It's very versatile.
- TFA Vanilla Swirl, because it's stupid good. Any time I feel like I'm done with a recipe, I do another test batch with some added VS if I think it would go well. Most of the time, It usually leads to another version that includes VS. So good.
.... I should make a recipe with all these flavors.
Also runner up mentions: TFA Blackberry, FW Cherry Crush, FA Strawberry, CAP Sweet Cream
What % do you like to keep fuji at when mixing with other fruits? I've noticed it's almost always fighting for main stage so far. Great flavor though.
INW Biscuit
CAP Sugar Cookie
CAP Vanilla Custard v1
TFA Bavarian Cream
CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl
FA Fuji
FA Meringue
Runner up is definitely yellow cake and strawberry ripe. Also...I can't STAND TFA vanilla bean ice cream. It tastes like vaping straight pepper to me. Which sucks, because you all love it. 😔
I really don't know what is up with vbic, I y tried to make mustard Milk and it was unvapeable, but I've gone back to it several times and it's been golden in some recipes and horrid in others. Weird thing is it's all from the same bottle which is always shaken.
CAP Sugar Cookie v1
CAP vanilla custard v1
TFA strawberry ripe
FW blueberry
TFA cheesecake Graham
TFA sweet cream
FA marshmallow
This is hard. Honestly, those aren't my seven most used flavors but I think seven of the some of the most versatile concentrates in their respective profiles that I personally use. They're all very good in their own ways, but the majority of them aren't main flavor notes as much as they are additives for most of my recipes.

Bonus: Shit6
TFA Honey
TFA Honeydew
INW blueberry (unless I just still can't figure it out)
TFA Horchata
TFA Cheesecake
___ ________________ v2 (insert all that apply)
Ugh... Honeydew. It "stains" an atty beyond hope. You gotta change wicks/coils and scrub with baking soda to get it out. Dealing with the aftermath of a fruit salad mix in my AquaV2 still...
Lol, "______V2" yeah, DX Peanut Butter goes in that category too. Not sure why acetonin/diacetyl is so damn delicious. It's like my sense of taste wants to end me.
I remember getting away with it at .5% in a fruit salad actually, but its just a ridiculously selfish flavor.. It's like TFA fruit circles, the idea is right, but the bite is too strong. Doesn't play well with others.
edit: still haven't ever tried any sort of PB vape. Not sure if I'm interested, but I'm at least curious. Are any of them 100% worth grabbing just to tinker with?
Depends. My only experience is with the TFA PB and DXPB. Not a fan of the DXPB. But the real deal is pretty decent. It's a heavy flavor and adds a bit of throat hit, but also seems a bit oily, which, you know, peanut butter is just like that. So it's decently accurate, but just a matter of personal preference as to whether it's something you want to vape regularly. I like custards, but I don't vape em all the time because they seem to leave a bit of a residue :P but yeah, its a decent base for something like a peanut butter cookie mix.
Yeah the honeydew staining wicking and coils really does suck, because I love the flavor of it... But it's really not worth the damage that it does.... Have you tried FLV Wild Melon? I get a primarily honeydew flavor from it, and it worked well as a TFA honeydew replacement in my honeydew blackcurrant yogurt recipie.
For me the Magnificent Seven are: Ripe Strawberry Mandarin Orange Juicy Peach Bavarian Cream Double Kiwi Green Apple Sweet Raspberry
The stinkers (or maybe I just haven't found the right combinations): Grape Juice (overpowers everything) Menthol (and I bought 4oz of this) Lemon (can't make a good lemonade to save my soul) Maraschino Cherry ( see grape juice)
It's only 4 out of the 20 flavors that I have. They are all TFA.
funny you say grape juice overpowers everything, I tried it at 0.30% and it just completely rekt 14% flavor. INW Grapes is the only serviceable grape flavor I've found outside MF, apparently to popular flavor manufacturers grape flavor means a metric shit ton of methyl anthranilate and nothing else.
FA Bilberry
TFA Blueberry Wild/Blueberry Extra
TFA Blackberry
FA Lemon Sicily
TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust
FA Fuji
CAP Vanilla Custard V1
Im still working on some stuff but so far my six have been FA Pineapple, CAP French Toast, CAP Blueberry Jam, TFA Maple, FA Blackberry, FA Liquid Amber (I just cant figure out how to use it for the life of me)
Top 7 is easy for me
- CAP Sweet Strawberry
- INW Cactus
- FA Cold Pressed Tahity Lime
- FA Fuji
- TFA Dragon Fruit
- TFA Vanilla Swirl
- TFA Bavarian Cream
Ridiclous six.... hmmm.... that is hard. However, I don't like ANYTHING (aside from a few) flavorings by LA.
- LA Banana Cream
- TFA Strawberry
- TFA Dragonfruit
And since you specified seven, TFA VBIC, Nic, PG, and VG. :P
CAP: Vanilla Custard, Sugar Cookie, Cinnamon Danish Swirl
FA: Fuji
TFA: Strawberry, VBIC
FW: Yellow Cake
I'm not saying they'll ruin anything, just that I haven't mastered them yet: TFA Blackberry, TFA Honey, TFA Plum, TFA Green Tea, TFA Black Tea, FA Pineapple
CA Graham Cracker- I love the crumbly cinnamon sugar graham flavor this gives off. It's a staple for me in flavors like apple pie, cheesecakes, pies, cobblers, muffins. I like INW biskuit but I use capella's GC in more flavors because it's more tame IMO.
FW Blueberry- Most people love strawberry flavors, but I'm a Blueberry person. Don't get me wrong I like a good strawberry cream vape every now and then but it's old to me now. FW blueberry is much more flavorful that TFA's or CA's versions. It's great paired with bilberry but if I could only choose one blueberry it would be this one.
FA Meringue- is always useful and I find myself using if for everything from fruits+creams to desserts and cereals. FA Marshmallow is a close runner up but there's just something about the slightly crunchy flavor it gives off that just makes stuff taste so good.
FLV Coconut- The holy grail of coconuts, no artificial suntan lotion taste. Its just a beautiful flavor, and extremely potent. I usually make A 10% dilution or just a drop per 30ml it's very potent!
FW Cake Batter Dip- This has replaced yellow cake for me. It doesn't gunk my coils as bad either which is always a plus.
FA Lime Tahity (Distilled)- I love citrus flavors and this is my favorite lime to date. It's candy like without being overly sweet and fake, it reminds me of Braums Limeades. It is easy to over do this flavor but it makes dull fruit flavors really pop. Capella's Lemon Lime is the runner up.
FA Forest Fruit & FLV Boysenberry- This is cheating but I couldn't decide, these flavors pair so nicely with other berries and really make them shine. I put one of these flavors in almost all of my fruity berry recipes. It's kind of like a secret ingredient when a berry recipe isn't going the way I planned. And they're both good as single flavors so if I was going on an island one of these would be coming with me.
Bonus
TFA Green Apple- A lot of people like it, it tastes like grocery bags to me. FW Green apple is a much better option.
Capella's Cinnamon Coffee Cake- That sounds like a good flavor right? Hell no, its like cinnamon red hots blended with Christmas potpourri and sugar cookies. Such a deceiving flavor. If you want a cinnamon coffee cake flavor get some CA Cinnamon danish swirl and some cake batter dip from FW.
TFA Vanilla custard- To each their own but I personally hate this flavor, it has a distinct peppery flavor that I just can't get past. Capella's V1 Custard is delicious on the other hand.
Any Coffee flavor from TFA or CA- They're pretty terrible, specifically TFA caramel cappuccino and CA's cappuccino. FA's cappuccino and espresso are great coffee flavors to start with and they're very potent.
TFA Cheesecake- Not Cheesecake with graham crust, just regular old TFA cheesecake is a horrible flavor and will discourage any DIY-er to ever want to make cheesecake's again. TFA's cheesecake w/ graham, CA's, and LA's versions are the way to go.
CA Lemon Meringue Pie- Maybe this one I just can't figure out but anything I put it in has a cardboard taste. It's dry and the lemon is chemical-y, I just cannot use this flavor for anything. Their juicy lemon is good but not LMP.
FA Cookie
TFA Strawberry (Ripe)
CAP Buttercream
INAWERA Raspberry
TFA VBIC
FA Meringue
CAP Vanilla Custard V1
Runners up: FW Yellow cake, INAWERA Biscuit, TFA Cheesecake graham crust, CAP Sugar Cookie, TFA Bavarian Cream, FA Fuji, TFA Dairy/Milk
I have quite a few that I'd never give up but I see myself going back to these the most
Sidebar, sidebar, sidebar and sidebar. Oh, did I mention sidebar, too?
Normally, I would agree, but this guy is just trying to start a discussion about people's favorite staple flavors. Don't really see the harm. It's actually kinda interesting seeing what people enjoy compared to others.
