Need help finding a suitable menthol recipe for my wife.
submitted over 9 years ago by borednetspec

She loves 40 below from SNG vapor in North Dakota. Now as most of you cannot or would not ever make it to that location i'm looking for a simple menthol juice. All the ones I make after steeping look nothing like the 40 below when steeped. I know there is menthol and likely koolada in this juice, but it turns dark amber after steeping. Looking for answers as to what could be added to this to make it steep dark, would sweetener do that, or acetyl pyrazine ( spelling ) or ethyl maltol. Not sure which of those would go hand in hand with a menthol juice but any advice is good advice.

Not sure about color issues, but if it's a cold, minty menthol then it's probably FW Extreme Ice

That could be it. It is a colder harsher menthol, I don't taste anything in there really that would point me to it having anything else in it. It is kind of sweet however.

What strength does she vape? It may be from nicotine oxidation

Edit: the higher the strength, the darker the oxidation

Yeah I generally mix and buy 10mg.

10mg will oxidize pretty quickly. Unless the flavors you use are dark already, then the only color will come from oxidation.

+1 to this, if you are getting a less harsh taste (from your other comment) and lighter colored juice, it could be because you have better nicotine than what the vendor is using.

Try TFA Creme de menthe upwards of 10%. It gets really minty and mentholated without that killer menthol taste.

I actually do have that. I'll give it a shot.

My mother was a menthol smoker for a long time. I just buy MBV Extreme Ice concetrate and use it at 15%. I can't imagine what is going into a juice like this and turning it amber. This Extreme Ice is completely clear. That plus great quality nicotine will produce a clear juice that will extend the life of coils by a lot.

I've been trying to figure a menthol juice out myself. I've been getting this one menthol juice I use as an additive to a raspberry juice I like. It has a tint of green to it in 0mg. And with nic turns an amber color as well. I can taste a bit of peppermint and a bit of spearmint, but for the life of me cannot figure out the menthol flavorings in it. I believe the juice may be discontinued now so I need to figure it out quick lol.

Yeah let me know if you do haha, and I the same. I've done the cinnamon red hot shit, and peppermint.

No idea what your used to but mixing TFA Menthol at a 2-1 ratio with TFA Spearmint is delightful. I only use it around 3% total but you can go as high as you need. TFA Menthol above 5% tastes veery chemically to me. (TFA Menthol is just menthol crystals diluted at I believ, 10% in PG).

Yeah, he's probably got it. There's some spearmint in it. I vape straight menthol and it's not like most shops' menthol, there's no "body" or "sweetness" to mine. I attribute their more complex juice to the addition of spearmint.

TFA 15ml menthol 5ml koolada 70ml VG 30ml PG. Shake the hell out of it, wait 24 hrs fill a bowl with hot tap water and submerge your bottle. Wait about 2 minutes then shake the crap out of it again. You might have to repeat the warm water the next day if the menthol crystalizes. It's good to go after a 2 day steep though. Edit: the amber could be from the nicotine? Just mix with no nic. Your always going to Vape something else with menthol so you don't need nic in menthol. ;)
