So natural coffee extractions are a subject of great controversy, at least as far as I can tell. I really want to continue using homemade coffee extracts but I can't tell whether it's safe.
From my understanding, coffee extracts contain lipids and we're not supposed to inhale those, but my question is how much lipids is tolerable and how much does coffee contain? Is vaping coffee concentrates an actual health risk or is it inconsequential?
Here's some posts the show the split opinion..
- most authentic coffee taste
- another proponent, with a negative comment
- theoretical extraction method
- horror story about "coughing up lung jizz"
so with all the conflicting opinions, whats the truth?
I'm no doctor, but lacking the enzymes to break down lipids in your lungs would lead me to believe that no amount of lipids would be safe to vape.
You could always use bro science to see how concentrated the lipids are by putting some of your extraction into a shot glass of water. If it doesn't dissolve completely then you probably have a high amount of lipids in there.
At the end of the day though, why not just buy some concentrates and be free of concern?
Edit: I'll just tag two people who may have a better answer for you: /u/abdada /u/returnity
None of my coffee extracts ended up feeling right to me. I did use a centrifuge on coffee extracts and was able to get the oils to one side, but it was a pain in the rear and the flavor was lacking.
Coffee is a tough flavor, period. I would much rather buy someone's perfected coffee blend concentrate than try to get it working myself.
FLV Coffee is spot-on perfect black coffee. Stupid strong, too. 1% is fine IMO for standalone, or even with a small amount of cream or caramel or hazelnut or whatever. I added .2% to a RY4 mix once and i seriously tasted mostly coffee with a very background note of "grandma's purse & caramel"
Yeah i just have so many concentrates to buy and plenty of PG and coffee i was hoping i could get away with it... idk its just tempting lol
I would really like to hear more about this since I was vaping my homemade coffee juice last night. Did not realize there might be negatives. Really would suck to have to throw away my juice and extract.
But it would suck a lot more to come down with lipid pnuemonia=)
I've been messing around with FA espresso. Tried a few recommended recipes and disliked them. I have to find the most recent iteration but FA espresso, TFA VBIC, CAP French Vanilla, FA butterscotch.
It's not quite as creamy as I had hoped for and I may add just a smidge of cactus and marshmallow to lessen the dryness. Overall a decent vape mixed at 60vg 40pg.
On a side note, boy does that espresso linger. Flavor for days.
