I've been working on a clone of placid since I started mixing. I've made countless revisions and variations to my clone. Figured I'd share my most recent recipe.
/u/AdirondackDave has made some comments about there being 4 different companies in the juice and one "secret" flavor in Placid.
Based on the recent recipes released I've figured that Placid is a fairly simple one with a fairly high percentage of flavoring.
Now I don't have the 4 flavorings In here but I think I've found the other flavoring, anise. Smelling of a fresh mixed bottle I get a faint hint of anise.
Flaccid version I don't even know at this point
TFA honeysuckle 2%
only honeysuckle I've seen. Above 2% it gets to harsh for me in this clone.
FA lime Tahiti cold pressed 2%
Not sure if this is the correct lime flavoring, but it tastes really close.
TFA Strawberry 10%
Not sure if this is the correct strawberry, but it gets the job done
TFA Pear 6%
Very confident that this is the pear in Placid
FA Anise .25%
Only anise I have on hand. Taste great, could easily be a different one.
This version tastes bit cleaner to me than Placid. I get a slight natural/dirty note in the original. My guess is that the strawberry is incorrect, could be INW Strawberry that /u/psyki has in their recent clone or NW Strawberry. I don't have either of those on hand so i can't comment on that.
I don't post on here as often as I would like, and there is hardly a topic that I can share some experiences on. This is one of them however...
Beyond what you have already said about the 4 different flavoring companies, they have also mentioned (in a comment to them I made) that they mix placid between 11% and 27% total flavoring.

I have also read somewhere that it is mixed at 16%, but I don't know if I've seen a source for that. Starting to think maybe should go snooping and gather information on the comment history.
Anyway, so here is what I've been doing when I make it up:
- TFA Honkeysckle - 4%
- TFA Key Lime - 2%
- FA Cold Pressed Tahity Lime - 6%
- TFA Pear - 0.5%
- CAP Sweet Strawberry - 4%
- TFA Dragon Fruit - 0.5%
- FA Fuji Apple - 0.5%
- Inawera Cactus - 0.5%
Total Flavoring : 18%
The problem I find with a lot of the other clone recpies (although not tried your version OP) is that I find the pear to be way too strong and not nearly the punch in the face lime that I normally get. Also everyone of them seems to be missing the slight apple I get off of it IMO.
Thanks will try apple also. Thats alot of FA lime, 2% seems strong in mine.
I've tried mixing clones at varying percentages. Based this clone of the percentages of the other flavors that they have released. The lost bottle I got from them was a 120ml of max vg. It's pretty runny, looks to me at a fairly high percentage, around 15% plus. At 10% the em in TFA strawberry seems to help calm the pear and like down.
I would have to think that it would be all TFA. The anise could be TFA Absinthe or their anise. And the lime TFA key lime.
I've never tried placid, but all TFA recipes are not uncommon for many vendors.
That is originally what I thought it would be. In an older Placid clone thread Dave had said four flavoring vendors were used in the juice.
With flavors from 4 vendors, some of the CAP options might be Lemon Lime or Sweet Strawberry.
I've tried CAP sweet strawberry in this mix. It's good but I don't think that is the strawberry in placid. I'm not sure about the lime. 2% FA lime cold pressed tastes pretty close to me. But it could easily be another. I've only got FA's likes on me at the moment.
I'll have to try it with anise. I have been attempting to add in some apple myself. I also am not sure about tfa strawberry but it's my fav so I've been also using it in my clone. I know I'm wrong being that if the lime is fa and the honeysuckle and pear are tfa (and they certainly are) then the strawberry and mystery ingredient must be from two different flavor manufacturers. Are their any DIY people here that mix their own juice and sell? I'm debating getting my own DIY setup, but this is the clone I want to try before I bite the bullet and go on a flavor shopping spree.
