I'm sitting here with a sore throat and congestion. I'm down to 1.5% nicotine and about 80% VG - anything else is too harsh. I'm using a ginger vape I created, because ginger has both soothing properties for sore throats, and can help treat inflammation (who knows if this carries over to vaping).
Here's my recipe. I call it Eir, after the Valkyrie/Goddess of medicine in Norse mythology. It's not the most delicious vape, but that's not the goal. It's somewhere between a cough drop and ginger lemon tea. It's good when sick, but certainly not an ADV. It really does help my throat.
CAP Lemon Sicily - 2.5%
TPA Cherry Blossom - 1%
FW Ginger - 2.5%
FA Liquid Amber - 1.5%
FA Peppermint - .75%
TPA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - 2% (considering replacing this with vanilla and meringue, or a smoother cream)
CAP Marshmallow - .5% (to smooth it out)
What do you vape when you're sick?
Anything with a good bit of menthol or mint to it.
This. 2% Menthol, 1% Spearmint and clears me right up =) Feel like you have Vick's on your chest all day.
I like to do something similar when it's congestion/stuffy nose. Unfortunately, menthol too harsh for me with a sore throat.
INW Eucalyptus & Mint. Literally like vaporizing a Ricola.
Actually cleared my sinuses.
What %? Thanks
Only tried as high as 2%... Potent when fresh, fades after a day or two.
I may bump it up to 3% at some point, but will hesitate to vape it that high until it settles!
Should also mention I am a "low" wattage vaper... around 20w usually... Be careful if you're a "power vaper."
10% FW Extreme Ice
1% FA Peppermint
0.5% FA Spearmint
Pow right in the kisser.
Do not try this in a dripper. I learned the hard way
Meth. Way more effective than pseudoephedrine /s
I found the thread and immediately looked for this!
Strong menthol or flavorless and nic free. If I can't taste it why waste it.
I vape 15% honeydew. So smooth an inoffensive.
I am approaching my 2 year mark vaping. I was actually telling my wife how I hadn't been sick since I switched. 2 days later it hit me. I found its more in the device than the juice. Anyways I whipped up a batch knowing I wanted to MTL menthol and came up with this.
TFA Strawberry - 5 %
TFA Watermelon - 9%
TFA menthol - 1%
TFA Koolada - 1%
With my old IJUST2 battery and a kanger subtank RBA coil with the airflow turned down so I could MTL it was exactly what I wanted. Sure beat sucking on halls for 4 days straight.
The only thing I've ever been able to vape when sick is:
Candy Cane (Flavor West) @ 3%
Clove (TPA) @ 1%
I play with the percentages on occasion, but the final mix usually hovers around there. I've found that Candy Cane is easier on my lungs than menthol while still giving that cooling sensation, and the eugenol in the clove numbs my throat. I've tried adding other flavors in to this, but I usually can't taste much of anything anyway when I'm sick, so cooling + numbing is all I need. Past that, and I feel like I'm wasting flavoring.
Yeah.... Seriously, you should not vape when your sick. Have some Will power Mayne
Why
well, technically vaping is a throat irritant via PG. that's what throat hit is afterall. so if you have a sore throat, anything that irritates the membranes in your throat isn't really "helpful" but at the same time, mint and menthol when you're congested is really nice. I'll mix that with a high percentage of a single fruit and it's pretty nice.
so in the end, vaping while sick is still better than smoking while you're sick but ultimately anything that aggravates the throat isn't the best idea ever.
