Hello everyone,
So, I am looking to get some tobacco flavors to mix up some cigarette and cigar type flavors for a few friends. Looks like there all interested in marlboro blends. I asked them to tell me what they would say flavor profile is like.
"Smokey" "Burnt Popcorn" ( wtf?) "Mild" "Menthol" "Coffee" "Nothing really, Just nicotine"
Personally, I am not a smoker but this is what I got when I asked them about the flavor profile from the cigarettes and cigars.....What would you guys recommend? I usually vape on dessert or cereal type flavors mainly so I am at a small loss here.
I will be mixing nicotine with these. I have a 36mg/ml 50%PG/50VG. In case this makes any difference. If you guys need anymore info, I will do what I can to get you the info.
I have been reading the mega tobacco thread and it's a great resource but it's also kinda hard to choose....
Also one question....Whats the deal with Koolada? I'm genuinely curious.
Thanks!
Edit - Damn, This sub is amazing. Thanks everyone!
For cigarette flavor, INW s'camel and some type of tobacco absolute is about the closest you'll come. I use Azure.
I love INW gold ducat. Am4a is good too.
FLV cured tobacco seems good after some initial testing, but I haven't used it a lot.
Ecx's tobacco express Captain is wonderful standalone.
There are so many options with tobaccos, and the master thread that bobby created would help even more if multiple people reviewed the same flavorings.
I prefer Dirty Ashtray from ECBlend over Tobacco Absolute. TA leaves solids floating through the liquid and kills coils. DA has a nice smokey flavor and doesn't kill coils like TA does.
FLV Cured Tobacco is wonderful, although I can't get a mix to last a week with it. The flavor dies over time unlike most other tobaccos.
I've tried mixing it with other supporting tobaccos but haven't gotten good results. If you use FLV Cured Tobacco just vape it within the first week or so.
That master thread is great and also made me think to ask "damn, which ones..?"
And here we are...
I agree with nicobeak's choices, from what ive tried. The information is getting overwhelming though. We will vote on top 5-10 in time.
In the meantime I would recommend
- INW Garuda for the tobacco note. (or another tobacco absolute)
- INW Scamel for a sweet, nutty, popcorn, note
- Acetyl Pyrazine 5% for the popcorn/toasted, note
- Menthol
- some other menthol or menthol tobacco flavor (sorry not a menthol smoker)
be careful w/ S'camel and AP in the same bottle, as it can quickly turn into corn chip flavor. (pyrazine overload)
I've noticed some Tobacco Absolutes are cleaner than others,
Thank you for the notes. Especially about AP. I have some of it that my brother asked for and I was and still am trying to figure out what it's good for...
It was to make a clone of a E-Juice he liked it seemed so it just sits there. At least now I know where I could have a use for it.
TFA Western is absolutely delicious. If you've ever had Space Jam's Andromeda, Western is the base flavor.
My bomb-ass tobacco mix -
All TFA
Western - 7%
Hazelnut - 2%
Marshmallow - 1%
Steep for a week.
Have all these except Hazelnut is DX version and I would need the Western. Nice and simple recipe.
Thank you! And no, never tried Space Jam juices.
I think you'll like it. Not a smokey tobacco mix, more like the smell of a freshly opened pack of Camels.
Not a fan of tobaccos, but fuck it. I'll report back :)
Have you made any iterations youd share?
Can't help worth your tobacco selection but koolada gives your vape the coming sensation of menthol without the mint taste.
Would you say that its a flavor that anyone who does DIY should have?
If you ever want something to "taste cold", koolada is where it's at. Raspberry Lemonade? Add koolada for ice cubes. Root Beer? Koolada to chill it. Ice Cream? Koolada up in here.
I mixed up a simple combination of 7 Leaves (FA) and RY4 Double (TFA) last week. Honestly I stayed away from tobacco flavors, thinking it might be a trigger and start smoking again. But these 2 flavors are excellent together!
-
7 Leaves FA 5%
-
RY4 Double TFA 5%
-
French Vanilla CAP 1%
TFA M-Type is made from real tobacco and has a very unique smoky/tobacco essence that's unlike anything else I've tried, I would recommend it.
You can use it in a mix at like 0.2% and still taste it, so start low.
I have a blueberry tobacco that uses it at 0.7% and it's basically too strong even there.
Inawera's AM4A is great too, try it around 1%, has a more unique tobacco leaf smell and flavor, but it's quite well rounded and complex.
TFA's Double RY4 if you want a sweeter vanilla/caramel tobacco, which I highly recommend for mixing with other tobaccos like the aforementioned.
DRY4 can be used at higher amounts, I'd start around 2% and see how you like it. These flavors are very concentrated so they will go farther than most fruits/etc.
This is good info. Thank you for that. Hope BCV has these in stock.
They should definitely have the TFA ones at least, though I do really recommend trying the Inawera AM4A if you can find it, I was able to get all of these from WizardLabs.
I can't say I've tried a ton of tobacco concentrates, but of the 10+ I've tried, these ones are my favourite and I personally vape them and find them very enjoyable.
Like I said, they are super strong, so worthy investments because they last so much longer than most other concentrates, start low and experiment! :)
Mixing by weight really helps if you aren't yet.
For the menthol - FA Royal is very Newport.
On the others, tobacco's are difficult. Most taste like cigar or pipe tobacco. Few like cigarette. Usually requires a few blended together to get the type of flavor your looking for.
Some of Flavor Expresses tobacco's supposedly make OK Marlboro type flavors. But I haven't tried them myself.
I'm really digging inw cavendish. It's a dry toasty slightly sour tobacco. Great on its own or to build on. Inw tobacco symphony is also pretty good. It's a nutty slightly salty tobacco but packs a decent throat hit. I've heard good things about hangson highway and azure vapings TA
Vaping TFA Cubano mix right now. It's got a bit of depth, and a kind of floral/smokey finish. I usually run it between 1 and 2% with like 0.5% M-type and/or Flue cured to give it a kick.
It seems like all these tobacco flavors tend to run on the low end. Guess there really over powering?
Most are super potent. 3% Cubano will burn your throat like a real cigar.
I'm with nicobeak, INW S'Camel is the best cigarette style tobacco i've ever tried, and i've tried alot! Especially good when paired with INW Cuban or Virginia absolute.
INW Tobacco Symphony is also very good with a slightly salty taste which reminds me of a cigarette.
For a pipe style, INW Gold Ducat is excellent, i usually mix it with INW Cherry or Vanilla.
Mind sharing the Gold Ducat recipe? I want to like tobaccos, practically by forcing myself, and cherry sounds wonderful.
I'm vaping this right now:
INW Gold Ducat 4%
INW Shisha Vanilla 1,5%
INW Virginia Absolute 1%
INW DNB 0.5%
You can substitute the Vanilla for Cherry at a similar percent to your taste.
I can tire of sweet desert vapes quite quickly so i always have plenty of well-steeped tobaccos blends on hand like this one.
Hope you enjoy :)
FA Desert Ship is my favorite. Spicy and unique tobacco. It's my go-to when having a few drinks.
ECX French Pipe for that really floral and robust pipe flavor. I enjoy it, but can't vape it too heavy for too long.
I'd also recommend picking up some FA Bitter Wizard to tone down the sweetness in tobacco vapes. I feel it helps substantially.
Not a huge tobacco flavor consumer, but I've liked a few that I've mixed up from record found here. The first one uses TFA Black Honey tobacco and its really nice. Someone else mentioned INW AM4A. I've used it in enywreklaw's Marble 27: http://diyordievaping.com/2015/08/13/marble-27/ which to me tastes a bit like drawing on an unlit cigarette. I've known a couple ex smokers who like it because of that.
