Should I or shouldn't I pre-mix my flavors and base before I add nic
submitted over 9 years ago by DoombotnAZ

I saw a post a while back about mixing flavors and pg/vg first and then storing for some time:days, weeks or even months before adding nic. Is there any benefits to doing this other than time when I'm ready to bottle?

Chemical interaction is a real thing. The more time the volatile chemicals in your flavors has to comingle, the less time you'll need to steep later.

The reason you want to store some mixes for a while instead of just vaping right after you mix is to allow the flavors to blend together, so called steeping. This is entirely dependent on what flavors you use as some don't need any steeping at all, some only need a few days and some can take weeks to blend sufficiently.

Nic can turn harsh from oxidation and ultimately spoil a batch that's been steeping for weeks. This is why you may want to add the nic later.

If I'm going to vape the juice within one month maybe two than I add nicotine. But, if I'm going to let it steep for over two months I will wait to add the nicotine.

If it's fruit flavored just add the nic, give it a hot water bath, and you should be good to go! If its custard or cream i'd let it steep for a bit then add the nic... I'm not the leading authority on this topic but this method has been working for me!

I would not recommend hot water baths, or any steeping method involving heat. Just store it at room temp and let time do it's thing
