I finally got in my first DIY order yesterday and after probably a year of lurking and spending lots of time researching through the side bar, mixed up my first few bottles. Holy shit! I can't believe how good some of these came out. I took some recipes from around here like /u/fizzmustard's Mustard Milk and a couple that I found on a YouTube channel and started mixing them up. Then based off of what I did with these I mixed a couple of my own concoctions and haven't made a bad mix yet. Although I did kind of screw up Mustard Milk because when I first got my stuff I didn't have a scale and think it has way less flavorings then it required but it was still good none the less. I have a scale now and started mixing by weight and it makes it so much easier and cleaner and the flavors seem to be right where I want them.
My first order was small but fairly simple based on the recipes I had and just a test run to see if it was something that I'd actually be able to do and stick with. After these initial test runs I need to place another order ASAP and get my stock up so I can go fully self efficient with making juice.
So in short I thank you all so much for all the hard work that's been put into this sub and the recipes that you all share to help us all make our own cheap "premium" juice. And for anybody thinking of making the switch, well I'm proof that if you do your research around here you can easily do it. Hopefully in the future I'll be around sharing some recipes that I come up with on my own as well but for now I've only made a couple that were something I made up on my own but they're nothing special and I'm sure not something you all have come up with on your own already haha.
Thanks to you for doing your homework and putting yourself in a position to succeed! It is the people like you that make me want to offer my 2 cents worth to keep your DIY efforts going!
well done sir! I will say honestly that I jumped in too quickly. I lost a lot of good flavors to just a lack of knowledge on my part. Keep mixing!
This is just the beginning, have fun ordering new flavors every week after seeing some of the cool recipes posted here. Once you start you can't stop.
Well to be fair.... that was kind of the plan haha. But I mean compared to buying a new 30ml of juice to try a new flavor I'll still be saving way more money and that was the second part of the plan. I find mixing fun and trying to come up with flavors really fun as well. For instance I made a Cantaloupe and cream flavor that reminds me of this drink I used to get in Okinawa that was like drinking a real slice of cantaloupe blended with some ice cream and milk and was amazing. Surprisingly it came out really well even though I thought it was going to be bad lol but not exact to the drink. A few people I've had try it say it's good too so that was a surprise haha.
