Hi guys, I'm new to DIY juice (new as in just placed an order for some gear and flavors for the first time a couple of hours ago).
I'm somewhat new to vaping as well, having started about a month ago. I went straight into sub ohm vaping because I had always used a friends' vape when we hung out. He had the original aspire Atlantis on some 40w mod I believe. Some of you may be angered that I jumped to sub ohm vaping so quickly, but that's not the point of this post.
After realizing how expensive premium e juice is, and how bad some cheaper juice is, I wanted to try and make some of my own. I read the side bar, I read through some of the recipes from last year and this month, and a lot of them sound really great.
But I sort of want to transition off of some of the juices I have now and have something to vape when I mix everything. There are some mixes I have in mind that I know will take some time to gather around and steep (a couple custard/vanilla ones). So I want to know what you guys think are your favorite recipes that are good straight out of mixing that don't require too long of a steep; maybe somewhere from fresh to about 3 days? I'm open to new flavor combos. I've mainly liked a sort of dad's milk/mom's milk combo and some fruit mixes (honesuckle my cuke from bx and circus bear from VW), but I'm open to what your favorite flavors are to see if my palate would expand a bit
Also, do some juice mixes take more time to develop a flavor profile? I feel every custardy/vanilla flavor I've had definitely had to spend some time in the closet to really be enjoyable where most fruit or vegetable flavors seem better fresh.

There's a sub just for shake and vape recipes. I think it's called r/shakeandvape Also, letting your juice sit for a few days/weeks is called steeping, just an fyi. One of my favorite simple shake and vape is 6% tigers blood. Just Google the recipe to find it. There are also 2.7 million variations of strawberry milk on this sub alone. Type "mothers milk" in the search bar for a ton of clones of a pretty good juice. For a simple recipe, check out mustard milk. It's a super simple, 2 ingredient strawberry cream recipe that is wonderful. It was created by one of the mods I think? Hope this helps, enjoy! Also, I would actually link to stuff but I'm on mobile.
I've heard of mustard milk and was turned off by the sound that I did not even bother to look what it was lol, but ti sounds just like a mother's milk. I'm not specifically looking for the two that I mentioned in my post, but more seeing what other people thought to be good right away.

Ha ha no problem. Some of the names of juices are kind of..... off putting I suppose. Mother's milk, cringe. But mustard milk is great. The guy who made it is named fizzmustard or something of the sort. There's TONS of awesome recipes on this sub. Everything botboy does is amazing, he's quite a celebrity around here. I have noticed that, some like dads milk from bx vapor and the art that is included, it's odd but also makes it stand out in my opinion. I'll look at what he put out; I kinda want to experiment with some lemon or orange flavors, but don't want them to be terrible from the start. But I guess that's part of the learning experience.
I ordered some 30 ml dropper bottles, USP vg, USP pg, and some 10ml plastic syringes off amazon and ordered some flavors from bull city. I didn't get any nicotine liquid cause I smoked cigarettes occasionally, but more of a social thing so I don't necessarily need it. All the pre made juices I ordered before started as 3mg, then moved down to 1.5 for some, and my latest order was just 0mg and I really can't tell too much of a difference between the three so I'm just going to stick with 0, unless a recipe asks for a low amount for flavor

just make small batches (15ml) stay at or under 3 flavors. Also 50/50 60/40 vg/pg would be better for shake vapes over high vg.
Why make 50/50 or 60/40 VG? I'm using a uwell crown and aspire Atlantis v2 and I've only used 70/30 VG and they've worked fine. Is it because I won't be using an industrial mixer or something and the higher amount of VG would make it less viscous and goopy?
PG is better at carrying flavor. That's why 99% of flavors are diluted in PG. Max VG can still have great flavor, it just tends to take more time for the flavoring to infuse. I also prefer 70/30 but will mix at 60/40 a lot for testing out new flavors as they seem to come through much quicker.
Avoid cream if you're going for a shake 'n vape.

A small percentage of creams (not custards) in fruit mixes don't need excessive steeping IMO.
If you want it fresh, you won't taste the cream. It doesn't need excessive steeping like tobacco does, but cream is pretty much non-existent when vaped fresh.
True. But as a mellowing agent, it works. I wouldn't call it a "shake n' vape", but a couple days suffices in this case. Honestly, in fruit mixes with a small percentage (in the 1-3% range) of Whipped or Bavarian, for example, the cream never actually tastes like cream to me. It just softens sharp fruit flavors.
Why is that? Because they take a while to form their taste?
Also, I see from some recipes that people use marshmallow or other odd flavors that to me won't seem to have much, if any, flavor. Why is that? Do they use those flavors to mellow or tone down some other flavors?
Marshmallow adds a little sweetness, but it gives a sort of fluffy feeling to the juice (mouthfeel). It is really common for mouthfeel, much moreso than for actual flavor.
Search for S&V or shake and vape. I prefer custards and don't mind waiting a week or two. Fruity vapes are thought to be vapable immediately, but I think they benefit from some aging, too.
There was a damned sticky post I cannot find, that was centered around newbro mixers getting into simple shake 'n vape recipes, but for the life of me I cannot find it. Was made by /u/kirkt iirc.

If I'm gonna shake and vape, I'll mix it at that. If I'm going to make a huge batch, or let it steep for a bit, I'll cut that recipe in half.
Thanks for the idea. What do you think that mix tastes like? I haven't tried the flavors by themselves so I'm having difficulty imagining it.
Also, when everyone says shake and vape, but people also day diy juice. Is the difference between the two that mainly people who do diy do it to sell or mass produced and shake and vape are people who do it in small amounts for themselves? Or am I looking too far into this
It's like a tart candy, but not strong enough to make you pucker up from being too tart.
Shake and vape: when you mix up a juice and immediately start to vape it. It doesn't take any time for flavors to steep or mature into something that tastes good. Creams and custards take time for the flavor to come around.
DIY: that is what we are doing. Do It Yourself. We are mixing our own juice, regardless of how big the batch is. Sometimes I will mix 10mls just to try something. Stuff I like, I'll mix two or three hundred mls so I'm not mixing all the time.
Thanks for the clarification. I knew what diy stood for, but didn't know if it was attributed to people who mass do it, or what. Knowing that shake and vape is mixing to be used right away cleared it up.

I'm sorry but I would avoid 14% Dragonfruit. That's an insane amount of flavoring. Go with half of that.
I agree. That's why I cut it in half if I'm going to let it mature. Go to ELR and search Suckerpunch clone. It's almost a dead match for it, and there are a bunch of submissions, all with the same ratios. 20% flavor is a lot for any recipe. 14% of any one flavor is insane, especially for a potent flavor like dragonfruit. For a shake and vape it's alright. You almost need the 14% for the flavor to really come through the way it was intended with Suckerpunch. Throw a little EM in a large batch at half of those ratios and let it steep for awhile, and it mellows out quite nicely.

This sounds really nice, what does it taste like? I would probably skip on menthol as I liked it in cigarettes if it was a dull mint, but i've been put off by it from Watermelon Crack as it was just so overpowering and did not like the exhale too much.
However, I'm interested in how the citric acid will play into this cause a friend of mine has a pink lemonade that has a noticeable sour bite to it, which works well with the flavor, and I'd love to replicate something like it
