I have a lot of friends who love to dip their French fries into their Wendy's frosty. Thinking about taking a shot at it. Any ideas on a good starting point?
I'd say make a perfect frosty recipe (and share please), then eat the fries while vaping.

Is this tested or just some brainstorming and DIY math? Also, are MF's chocolates pretty authentic tasting (unsweetened)? Or more candy-like?
Hahahaha. I'd start by making a french fry flavor, if that's possible, then cream it up and possibly add a bit of koolada or something for the ice aspect. Some things are pretty good in real life, but the thought of vaping potato, sweet cream, and koolada together makes me want to barf. Good luck!
Agreed, the best part of the frenchfry frosty is the warmth and crisp of the fry balanced by the cold melty creamy frosty.
I would say that as a general statement savory things dont transfer well to vaping. Also part of what makes that combo so good is the saltiness of the fry combined with the "ice cream", and saltiness is something that, if it is possible, i have never seen done. So good luck.
I will try to be helpful and say that using something like
- TFA VBIC 6%
- TFA Malted Milk 1%
- TFA Koolada 0.3%
would give you a decent "fake" vanilla ice cream. Making it chocolatey and taste like a frosty is beyond me.
The more i think about this, this would be one of the most difficult flavors of all time to make.... To get this to taste right you would need the following aspects
- Potato (?) flavor - difficult because it is savory, if you can find FA Potato Fried, that would probably be the closest thing.
- Fried flavor - probably doable, look here is a thread for a fried dough recipe, might be helpful.
- Saltiness - impossible AFAIK, look here
- "Fake" ice cream flavor - difficult because few tasting notes on the subject
- Balanced/accurate chocolate - difficult because working with chocolate is notoriously hard
so not trying to discourage you but, good lord i cant even imagine the R&D that would have to go into this recipe
I donno, once I found Double Chocolate Clear I never really looked back, adds a great chocolate flavor to everything.
If I wanted dark or white chocolate sure I'd have to look somewhere else, but DCC tastes exactly like the chocolate in a chocolate cake so I think it would work great with ice cream.

If you have no experience with it then I wouldn't recommend going around stating things like:

Because you will mislead/sway others into believing it, maybe there's a certain aspect of chocolate that's hard to achieve, but honestly after trying DCC I didn't feel like there was a reason to look further.
Now if I wanted a dark chocolate or cocoa flavor, really bold/bitter, yeah I'd need to look somewhere else, but DCC is IMO exactly what most people would think of when they think of chocolatey desserts and milk chocolate.
American's especially, because it reminds me so much of all the chocolately crap I grew up eating. Snickers, Cosmic Brownies, Swiss Rolls... etc.
It smells exactly like a fresh homemade chocolate cake with chocolate icing, I've let many people smell it and never had one person deny that.
TFA White Chocolate is very good, although I prefer CAP for all my other chocolates.
I had a 7ml sample from WL and used it in a few juices, one was a bit out of the ordinary and involved captain black tobacco and I believe strawberry ... but tasted amazing.
I haven't tried the cap's yet, I usually vape fruits so I honestly don't use the chocolate's too much, but I will definitely :)

1% of a .9% saline solution has reportedly added a slight saltiness to some juices for some people, but I have no experience. Inhaling salt tho? Idk. I've heard its not good for you long term. Idk.

I got that Malted Milk but no idea how to use it. Mixed it at 3% standalone and it just tastes weird. What is it good for?
Equal parts tfa taro root and fa ry4 heat steeped in a croc pot on low turned out exactly like french fries for me. Salty and everything.
Edit to add: it was gross enough that we left the bottle out at a local b&m just to get back at people dripping juice left on a table without asking.
Flavour Art has Potato Fried Type, if the diketones don't concern you too much. Ice Cream shouldn't be hard to make, using Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and fluffing out with additional creams. Maybe Bavarian cream, Fresh Cream, or Vienna Cream; just depending on what you'd prefer. Chocolate is usually best when using both Fa Chocolate and Fa cocoa for a natural flavor, so you'd want to balance those with your ice cream base. It'd look something like this:

- Vanilla Bean Ice Cream TFA - 3%
- Cream Fresh FA- 1%
- Cocoa FA- 1.5%
- Chocolate FA- 1.5%
- Joy FA- 1%
I've seen a French fry flavor. I think FA carries it. You'll have to look as it's probably not on any of the regular sites. Maybe on their direct site. As for ice cream, I've never found something that made an actual ice cream possible. You'll need a very pure white vanilla type flavor, something that tastes like those white vanilla stick things.
I'll go with the consensus so far: good luck in your impossible dream. But I will argue that a "chocolate-y" flavor- while nowhere close to a "true" chocolate flavor- is possible. Maybe a VERY low percentage of FA cocoa? Or Medicine Flower? They're supposed to have one of the better chocolate flavors. Flavour Art "Joy" is said to have a funnel cake-y, fried dough kinda flavor, so that would help. FW Salted Caramel could help impart a "salty" aspect and complement the chocolate. But as someone else pointed out, it's the temperature contrast that makes the "french fry-Frosty" combo so amazing. Long story short, you could probably come up with something that's a "fried, creamy chocolate profile," (I've never mixed it up, but maybe a creamier take on "Bronuts" could be a starting point?) but the starchy, potato note is going to be REALLY tricky, if not impossible.
I would base the frosty around TPA malted milk, with vanilla bean ice cream as a base... It's been too long since I've had a frosty, I forget what they taste like.
The French fries is the harder part... FA has a fried potato flavour but it's one of their weird savories that I've never tried.
I would suggest a combination of FA Joy and Acetyl Pyrazine... Too much AP tastes like potato/corn chips which might get you there, with the joy to brighten it up, with a touch of bakey goodness.
Perhaps a touch of FW Toffee Dream for a bit of a salty chocolate taste to round it out!
