Just Mother F-ing Doughnut.
submitted over 9 years ago by hblamoProud Sidebar Reader!

So. Doughnut.

Im still working on a decent doughnut flavor and I decided to go back to the roots and just make a doughnut that tastes like doughnut. (This is the start of what hopefully will be my raspberry doughnut with sprinkles)

I also didn't want to use Glazed Doughnut (CAP) because I fell that it just doesn't seem to play well with other flavors.

Link to ELR

Flavor | % ---------|---------- Cake (yellow) (FW) | 1% Cinnamon Danish Swirl (CAP) | 1.5% Coconut Extra (TFA) | 1% Joy (FA) | 0.75% Meringue (FA) | 1% Sugar Cookie (CAP) | 3%

70/30 VG/PG

So far its turned out to be a good shake and vape. It reminds me a lot of Doughnut Pounder (NAMBER JUICE). Im not 100% sure if I need the Joy or coconut, but I'll need to do some experiments.

Thoughts are welcome.

Edit: Just to keep everything clear. I apparently I am horrible about naming my threads the name of flavors that already exists... This really isn't meant to be a clone. Just trying to make a doughnut base. It has nothing to do MFN Glazed Donut.

Edit 2: New thread, New Recipe. Enjoy!

This actually tastes like powdered donuts. Not like Play-doh. Well done!

Thanks! Hopefully improvements will come. V2 was a disaster, but I think I know what went wrong.

I might turn down the joy to .5, anything higher and I get yeast beer. Letting it sit for a few days. I've tried a few but they all used cap doughnut and that was not pleasant.

I was thinking the same thing! V2.1 it'll be turned down.

Looks good. I don't have TFA Coconut Extra but I'm gonna mix it up and see how it tastes. Why was the idea behind adding the coconut?

I got the idea from Milkstone actually. I figured if it could add some creamy flavors to that it could maybe help here too.

I don't think its really necessary though. V2 will probably have it removed or reduced. I also think the percentage of Sugar cookie could be tweaked as well. After vaping the juice for a while I think its adding a strange after taste.

I have all of these flavors except joy. Could I substitute INW biscuit?

by hblamoover 9 years agoProud Sidebar Reader!

You sure could try. I can't says I fully understand the flavor joy, but try it and report back!

Honestly, Joy isn't replaceable at all. Nothing tastes or does what Joy does in a recipe.

Just tried it after a 4 day steep. I enjoy it. It does taste like a decent doughnut. I didn't have the TFA Coconut Extra and I dropped Joy to .5% but it's pretty good. If you're looking for a little more added sweetness, consider using TFA Strawberry Ripe at a low percentage. For a glaze, Meringue usually does the trick if you bump it up a bit. Have you tried LA Cream Cheese Icing?

I haven't tried cream cheese icing, how is it?

looks great! Been looking for a non-playdoh doughnut for a while, picking up a few missing pieces and will try this out

Yeah that was one of the main goals for the recipe. To not taste like cardboard/play doh/etc....

What's a good meringue sub?

1 points

by hblamoover 9 years agoProud Sidebar Reader!

You could try marshmallow, but honestly I don't think there is a good sub for meringue.

My ass juice mixed with Hellman's

God dammit I'm just missing the cap sugar cookie! Would inw biscuit work perhaps?

Doubtful. The two aren't as similar as you'd think.

You'll need to use biscuit at a lower percentage. Maybe 2%

In using it at .75

Cap Sugar Cookie tastes like vanilla frosting to me. I'd try Cake Batter or Vanilla Cupcake instead.

Possible to sub TFA CDS for CAP? Tried it? Thanks!

I have a feeling that either would be fine. Just tone down the percentage if it's too much cinnamon.

Looks good, man. I don't have sugar cookie, so I'm going to sub INW Biscuit when I give it a try.

I would lower the percentage if your gonna try with biscuit.

But report back with your findings.

I made that same recommendation to another user, further down the comment tree. Gonna mix it up now. I'll post my results!

Okay, adapted a little bit and mixed it up. As a shake and vape, it's OK, but it seems like it's really gonna shine, after a couple of days of steeping.

Looks good! I was thinking about adding marshmallow last night as well. Just something to add some sweetness. I would love to find a good way to also add that "glazed Juiciness" that a doughnut tends to have.

I like brown sugar extra for sweetness in baked goods. It might be a little dark for this recipe, though...

Yeah, I almost wish I had some sorta "powdered sugar" flavor... That beside, I wonder if custard would help with some of the "thicker" notes?

Good job. I'm pretty picky and I liked this. Will look out for the next version.

Thanks, any notes for future versions?

Not any that I can think of. I dropped joy down to .5% because I don't like the taste of it much.

It is pretty close to a powdered sugar donut. I was thinking about putting a small amount of chocolate glazed donut in the recipe next time i tried it to help aid the donut aspect... Have you any experience with the flavor in the mix? I would just try to add a little to where the chocolate doesn't come out.

Interesting idea, I haven't tried that, but for sure try that it and report back! :D

This might be the most accurate vape flavor I've ever had. I upped a couple of things .25 percent, because 8% flavoring seemed a bit low. In retrospect, 8 would have worked fine.

This is crazy good. It even has a powdery mouthfeel.

I'm glad you like it!

Dropped the joy and coconut extra to .5, bumped the meringue to 1.5, this recipe is magical. You have replicated doughnut without using doughnut flavoring. Taste extremely close to powdered doughnut without the playdough. Going to start throwing fruit bases at it to see what works. Well fucking done.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy it! V2 has been a nightmare but I'm going to take some of your notes and see what's up! Thanks :)
