Flavor of the Week: ALMOND

The purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and it's many uses.

We're not just looking for you to post recipes you have containing the flavor of the week, but looking for you to share your process as you develop a new juice using the flavor of the week.

This should help us all to better understand how certain flavors interact, and give us all a launching point to perhaps discovering new wonderful recipes. Please post new recipes created using this flavor as well as any and all tasting notes as main posts. Thought process is encouraged also.

This thread will NOT be in contest mode so the best flavors and reviews of those should move their way towards the top.

While I definitely encourage you to branch out with this flavor and use some more rare flavors, I would encourage everyone to keep it in mind that others will not be able to try your recipe and comment or offer assistance if they do not have the flavors you are using. I would also encourage you to use this week's flavor as the "main" flavor in your recipe although this is not required.

You BETTER sample and offer tasting notes on your recipe. Good luck to everyone!

Unlike in the previous monthly contest thread, I am NOT limiting this to any specific flavor from any specific vendor. After all, our goal here is to come up with perhaps some unique uses of the weekly flavor or combinations others may not have thought of before. This should allow for maximum participation as well!

Just wanted to link to Vanilla Almond Milk by /u/crosstown_rebel

Was submitted to this sub just under a day ago and although i havent tried it, the tasting notes are pretty interesting. I particularly was surprised by his creative use of TFA Vanilla Swirl, which is have always seen as an accent flavors (~1%) but he used it as a main note.

Anyways, just thought that recipe was very relevant.

Oh sweet! I can't take credit for the vanilla swirl base, as I have seen many other a good mixer utilize it in higher percentages. Ever since a few companies have been releasing their simpler, higher percentage mixes, I've been trying to get to that. Less ingredients, better ratios!

I've played with this recipe by /u/thewomberchomby quite a bit:

2% TFA vanilla swirl
2.5% FA almond
.5% INW cherry concentrate

I prefer to drop the almond to 1-1.5% and add shisha vanilla 1%. FA almond puts a weird taste in my mouth at 2+%. I also raise the cherry to .7%. It's really good. I've tried it with FA marzipan instead of almond, and it is ok, but not as good as the almond.

The version that I have made the most is:

2% TFA vanilla swirl
1.5% FA almond
.7% INW cherry concentrate
1% INW shisha vanilla

The shisha vanilla is tasted much more than the vanilla swirl, although the vanilla swirl adds some needed creaminess after siting for a day. The vanilla/almond/cherry combo is a great one.

Thanks for the mention! I'm really glad that you like the flavor profile so much. To be completely honest, I tossed that original recipe together in one go, and never even tried to improve it. Now that I've added Shisha Vanilla to my flavor library, I think it's time I give your revision a try.

Hope this is OK to post here as it didn't seem worthy of it's own thread.

I generally stay away from nutty flavours in vapes but I've been craving some almond cake type flavour. You know, the almond essence type flavour that you get in a Betty Crocker Angel Food cake box mix.

Are any of the almond flavourings available more essence and less nutty?

Don't go too high with it if you don't want too much of the nuttyness. I'd stay below 3.5%

I make an Almond custard fairly often. It's not out of this world or anything, but I dig it quite a bit.

No title because I'm too lazy most days

CAP Vanilla Custard V1 5%

FW Butter Pecan 2%

FW Hazelnut 1%

FA Almond 1.5%

INW Almond 1.5%

Acetyl Pryazine 1 drop per 10ml

The INW Almond really rounds out the already awesome FA, giving a semi candied almond finish. Butter Pecan and Hazelnut add a little depth to the nuttiness and the AP gives a bit of a boost. I like CAP VC V1 well enough on its own to not feel like I need to build a more complex cream base, since it's not really the start here anyways.

TL:DR INW Almond is pretty cool as an addition to FA Almond.
