True "Krispy Kreme" style donut flavor
submitted over 9 years ago by kalpoir

Hey folks,

Looking for something that gives that sickeningly sweet Krispy Kreme donut flavor. Cap glazed donut ends up being way to "heavy/yeasty" flavoring and I can't find a sweetener that shines through and gives that rich sweet flavor. Tfa Frosted donut seems to be a little lighter/sweeter but still isn't the profile I'm after. Chocolate glazed donut seems to get the closest but it's not quite there, and it's chocolate. I have tried meringue and em for sweetness but it's not getting me that sugar flavor I'm after. Any other donut or sweetener combos that will get close to Krispy Kreme style sugary donut? If so what would you recommend starting to mix at?

Thanks!

i agree with adding joy, look at the bronuts recipe that should point you in the right direction with the joy INW biscuit, and yellow cake. i also like to add tfa or cap bavarian cream to it it adds some sweetness as well as a nice creamy touch

Look on VU for d'oh nut I think. It tasted like Krispy cream to me. I'll link when I get home if you can't find it. I had to lower the marzipan in it. Edit: it's doh face

You can add richness with some Cap Butter

Edit: I think the "butter" is discontinued but "Golden Butter" should work.
