cigar extract bad after taste
submitted over 9 years ago by pittcore1003

I have done a slow extract using a "flavored" cigar, I let it steep and sit (ensuring the tobacco was covered) for 6 weeks, I used 100% VG, I am getting a great inhale from the juice I got from it but the exhale tastes like dirty socks smell.. does anyone know why this happens and possibly a way to "fix" it. thanks!

It has probably began to rot from 6 weeks of steeping

I've done all mine that long, but in pg. None of mine have tasted gross, some are just not great. How long has the mixed juice aged? A lot of them need 2+ weeks ime. Some of them aren't at full potential till 4+. It might just be a cigar that makes a funky extract. I'd suggest extracting in pg unless you have some reason not to though. What % did you mix the extract at? What did you filter it with? Also, you need to keep the wick pretty wet with extracts or they can get funky.

  • 6 weeks is a long time.
  • I normally do 6-7days.
  • I wouldn't use a flavored cigar.
  • What does your extract smell like? Tobacco or Gross?
  • can you use PG next time?
