Looking to start DIY. Read the sidebar but have more questions.

Hello, I just started vaping 3 days ago and I am looking to start making my own juices for economic reasons. I used to roll my tobacco before vaping and I was smoking a pretty heavy blend. So far I have bought a couple ready made 18mg nic tobacco juices and I kinda like them but they are either too sweet or too blund. I would like to ask for tobacco flavourings for start and for enhancers. Also I keep seeing 30/70 being proposed around here but just coming out of smoking I think I might need more pg for the throat hit. Any recommendations? As for more flavours I kinda like vanilla, menthol, and stuff like sodas (red bull, coke) flavours. I think about making some lower nic more flavoured juices for when I get tired of the tobacco flavour.

EDIT: Thanks for your comments! I will soon buy some flavours and a base to start experimenting. For the base I decided to go with this. It is a greek company that works with greek universities and has very solid reviews. I also like the fact that it is a mixed base so I just have to add flavour. I think it's gonna make it easier for the first few times.

You could always increase nicotine for more throat hit.. I never really notice too much difference in that regard with different VG/PG ratio. As far as flavors go, here's some recommendations

[INW = Inawera, FW = Flavor West, FA = Flavor Art]

  • INW Cola
  • INW Cherries (for cherry Coke?)
  • FW Dew Type
  • Tasty Puff Rootbeer (if you're into that)
  • FW Shirley Temple
  • FA Mad Fruit (only red bull flavoring I've had)

In sure others will have more recommendations as that's not really my go-to flavor profile. I hear lots of good things about Inawera tobaccos and I know that Flavorah Flue Cured tobacco is an awesome pipe tobacco flavor.

Good luck, and buy a scale!

Thanks for the reply! I will look into those flavours and see if I can find them in Greece. Just a quick question about pg/vg. Right now most of the ready made juices i got are 50/50. What are the benefits of changing it either way?

INW should be easy to get for you since they are made in Poland. Flavor Art is Italian so that should be pretty easy too.

PG is a "flavor carrier" and I believe the more of it you have, the faster your eliquid homogonizes. Apparently there's some throat hit to be had with higher PG, but I personally don't experience much of it.

VG isn't as good of a flavor carrier, but it does make denser clouds and mouthfeel. Some people are also sensitive to PG so they prefer max-VG eliquids.

50/50 is good for old cartomizers, and 30PG/70PG -> Max VG is good for dripping. If you have a regular old tank, anywhere from 50/50 to 30/70 is ideal although you can get away with 20/80 (PG/VG).

At the end of the day I wouldn't over-concern myself with PG VG ratios like a lot of people do. If you're having problems wicking, you may have too much VG. If your liquid is too runny, you probably have too much PG.

I think the ratios are blown way out of proportion and it's because of the cloud chasers and the companies and now completely tailoring to them as that's what's selling with the 200 watt mods and the clapton coil heads to the quad coil heads to you can blow clouds for days. Everybody was 80PG for a long time, I did it for maybe 1 1/2 until I moved down, probably when we retired the vivi novas for the protank if I remember correctly.

I just dial in what works, as my ADV is just my simple taifun with 50/50 1.8ohm extreme ice at 10 watts on my Vamo. I rotate that with my 2 Evic Mini's with my Crius and Serpent, subtank along with RDA's and 50/50 to 70/30 isn't that big of a difference. Maybe less dehydrated with higher VG but it's not that noticeable.

I did the whole dual clapton to 4x twisted wire with ribbon at .2 ohms and I know I can max it out 75 watts but it's just a hot vape and don't really get the appeal as the flavor doesn't magically hit me, all I care about is feeding my nicotine addiction so I tone it down and vape at 30'ish as that seems like the sweet spot for a nice flow of nicotine with a rotation of 4 devices and different juices. Soon to be 5 as my lazy ass needs to get off of reddit and pick it up my cuboid that got delivered hours ago.

Nothing wrong with dripping 50/50. I've been doing it without issue for over a year. This whole "max vg" fad never appealed to me.

For your tobaccos, look into:

  • INW dirty neutral base
  • FLV cured tobacco
  • FA Flash
  • FA black tea
  • FA zen
  • FA MTS vape wizard

these concentrates will assist with making it taste and feel realistic.

Look into /r/CloudCollective to find a good main tobacco flavor that will work for you. For making a good tobacco flavor, I'm sure you can ask the users there for personal help.

For your soda flavors, you could look into FW, they make some great real world flavor clones.

Thanks a lot. I read a lot about INW s'camel and somethings about Hangsen cigar. I also used to smoke extra dark virginia tobacco. Do you know anything about those flavours? EDIT: Would you recommend the INW dirty base infused with a tobacco aroma from INW such as s'camel or by itself?

s'camel is sweet n nutty, much like FA soho at low percents. (can't tell if you want skiddlz' opinion)

I've been encouraged to try soho at higher percentage. I'll have to revisit that one.

Have not tried any hangsen as of yet. It looks like they're going outta business, so Im not trying to invest time/money into something that may or may not exist in 6 months.

Anyone have any word on this?

Thanks for the reply. Just another quick question. What tobacco flavour would you mix with s'camel to make it a bit less sweet and more dry? I was thinking about getting 2-3 tobacco flavours and mixing them and see how it goes. Most ready made ejuices I got have too much nutty flavour for me(mostly hazelnut i believe). I would like just a bit of an aftertaste on the sweetness and a more dry body.

I'm thinking 60/40 as I just converted to that and now 70/30 but I have tons of 50/50 juices here and I have no problem with them. I'm 6mg and the throat hit even at 50/50 is nothing unless you drip. I started doing the RDA thing about a week and a half ago and 6mg destroyed me but it's fine in a tank.

Well tobacco and menthol mix well together so I'm thinking this as a very basic mix. I just started purchasing stuff today and now I'm ordering flavors so I have no idea what I'm doing.

http://www.ecigexpress.com/e-liquid-e-juice/flavored-eliquid/express-e-liquids/minty-menthol-e-liquid.html or http://www.bullcityvapor.com/7leaves-ultimate-fa/

And then mix it with something like: http://www.ecigexpress.com/diy-e-liquid/browse-flavorings/flavor-additives/oakwood-by-flavourart.html - to see if those blend together as you might have to experiment.

Then cool it down with: http://www.ecigexpress.com/diy-e-liquid/browse-flavorings/mint-menthol-flavors/menthol-arctic-by-flavourart.html or something not as strong: http://www.ecigexpress.com/diy-e-liquid/browse-flavorings/mint-menthol-flavors/spearmint-by-flavourart.html

Ok, I'm being one of those guys. I've been playing with all these flavors for about 2 hours now with so much shit in my cart that I'll never probably use and haven't even hit a recipe yet. I think I read something about how the newbies will go nuts when they start out but I have about 50 magical ADV's floating around in my head and 49 of them will be utter garbage.

My juices would probably taste like if MBV and Vapewild had a baby and it started to make his own juice level bad.

I think if you added a strong tobacco base to my Bangin' Bourbon Bread recipe, it would turn out wonderfully.

Con confirm, I've got a ton of half empty tiny sample size bottles that I was messing with when I started. Right next to that, I have 3 large bottles of the only flavorings I use. On my desk at home I have ~350ml of the only thing I care to mix and vape.

In case you or anyone else is interested (it's hardly in line with what OP asked for). I've yet to find anyone who's not a fan. There's wiggle room with the PB, as its not that strong, or peanut buttery with the other concentrates involved.

3.5% CAP Vanilla Custard V1

3.5% CAP Hazelnut

5.5% TFA Peanut butter

edit: spacing

Start with 50/50 ratio and more nicotine.
