The purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and it's many uses.
We're not just looking for you to post recipes you have containing the flavor of the week, but looking for you to share your process as you develop a new juice using the flavor of the week.
This should help us all to better understand how certain flavors interact, and give us all a launching point to perhaps discovering new wonderful recipes. Please post new recipes created using this flavor as well as any and all tasting notes as main posts. Thought process is encouraged also.
This thread will NOT be in contest mode so the best flavors and reviews of those should move their way towards the top.
While I definitely encourage you to branch out with this flavor and use some more rare flavors, I would encourage everyone to keep it in mind that others will not be able to try your recipe and comment or offer assistance if they do not have the flavors you are using. I would also encourage you to use this week's flavor as the "main" flavor in your recipe although this is not required.
You BETTER sample and offer tasting notes on your recipe. Good luck to everyone!
This Week's Flavor is: Cake
To clarify, I mean Yellow Cake, Cake Batter, Cupcake etc..
NOT CHEESECAKE I think that Cheesecake could be its own flavor of the week considering how much it is used.
Unlike in the previous monthly contest thread, I am NOT limiting this to any specific flavor from any specific vendor. After all, our goal here is to come up with perhaps some unique uses of the weekly flavor or combinations others may not have thought of before. This should allow for maximum participation as well!

FLV Chocolate Deutsche- a thick, creamy German chocolate cake. Good coconut flavor, good chocolate flavor, and a mild cake flavor. Would probably do well with CAP choc glazed donut, FW yellow cake, INW biscuit, or similar bakery flavor. Wouldn't need much to make a phenomenal finished GCC juice.
This is a great flavor and I'm looking forward to seeing everything posted. I wanted to finally give a recipe back to this sub. This is something I'd been working on that is a variation of a strawberry shortcake. It tastes more like a Twinkie with strawberry flavored cream. I'm super picky when it comes to strawberry flavors, but this one did it for me. It's best after a 2-3 week steep or so.
Strawberrry-Cream Twinkie
- FW Yellow Cake 5.00%
- CAP Vanilla Custard 1.00%
- TFA Strawberry Ripe 7.00%
- CAP Marshmallow 1%
- INW Biscuit 0.50%
There isn't anything too special here, it just took me a little while to get the proportions right. I was playing around with a couple of strawberry flavor combinations because I was trying to get a strawberry jam flavor in with the strawberry cream, but ultimately was happy with this rendition.
I hope you guys like it.
Is the yellow cake what mellows out after steeping? I just whipped up a small 10ml bottle of this and I really like the strawberry combination with yellow cake, however, there's a slight... 'earthy'(?) taste on the inhale.
Honestly, I don't fully remember. I wasn't thrilled with the taste as a shake and vape, or even after a couple of days, so I'm not positive if it was earthy or not. But after I let it sit for 3 weeks or so, it became something I was fairly happy with. Let me know if it gets better for you after some time.
have you tried FLV Strawberry? Very jammy. Might go well here.
INW Strawberry has that snack food strawberry taste, might be worth looking into. I'll mix up both and give it a shot but 7% INW strawberry would be way too high, i'll try with 3% first. I'll report back with my junkfood e-juice findings :)
In. Been struggling to find a vape that actually has that spongey-cake like taste. Most of the time my mixes end up just tasting "sweet" rather than dense cake. If I could nail this I would be well on my way to figuring out a donut recipe that tastes of donuts (Krispy Kreme's in particular) and not just of flavoured sweet custard.
Flavours I've got:
- FW Cake Batter Dip
- FW Yellow Cake
- TFA Frosted Donut
- TFA Vanilla Cupcake
Other flavours that might come in handy in my flavour drawer:
- CAP Sugar Cookie
- INW Biscuit
Since I don't DIY I will just throw this to one of you guys, something I have noticed missing from the market. Where are the coconut cakes?!?!?!?! I want a cocunut cake with maybe a hint of glaze, or cream to finish it. Who can get me a recipe to order from a DIY'er or one of those sites?!
You're in luck, stumbled across a coconut cake recipe online rather recently and decided to make it a vape.
Coconut Cake
- CAP Sugar Cookie 4.00%
- FLV Vanilla Custard 2.00%
- FW Yellow Cake 1.00%
- FA Meringue 0.50%
- CAP Sweet Cream (or FA Fresh Cream) 1%
- FLV Sweet Coconut 1.50%
- FLV Coconut 1 drop/15ml
- CAP New York Cheesecake 0.50%
- CAP Buttercream 0.50%
Quick break down of the flavor...
- Cake Base - Cookie/Yellow Cake/Custard
- Coconut Milk - coconut, fresh or sweet cream (custard contributes as well)
- Coconut Cream Cheese Frosting - Cheesecake, Buttercream, Sweet Coconut and powdered sugar/overall enhancement from FA Meringue
Let it steep for at least 3-4 days.
I can send you a bottle if you pm an address.
I'm toying around with a coconut tres leches cake idea... but I haven't made it yet. http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/406210/CoCoCake
I use it in my coconut cake, and I sell lots of it!, Have you even vaped tres leche at 3% by itself, or with just cream? I have and Its just ok, and overtook many of my mixes. It has a very distinct taste. I would suggest 1-2%, my fav is 1.5%, it provides a rich buttery aspect. At 3% that's all I can taste, I suggest 3% only when your using flavors that have the power to overtake. For example rich cinnamon. Now if you replace that coconut extra with the powerful flv coconut/sweet coconut combo, you will have an award winning mix!
I'm new to this, but took a stab at a Vanilla Cake Donut a couple days ago.
TPA Frosted Donut - 4% FW Yellow Cake - 3% FW Cake Batter Dip - 3% CAP Vanilla Custard - 1% Joy - .5%
As a shake and vape it seemed decent, but light on flavor. I'm anxious to see how the the cake flavors develop after a week or two. I am thinking it might need a bit more Frosted Donut.
Any input appreciated! I'm new to DIY and learning the ropes.
Pineapple Sunshine Cake Smooth from the get go but tastes excellent after a couple days.Enjoy!

- 1.0% Pineapple (TFA)
- 1.0% Vanilla Swirl (TFA)
- 1.0% Marshmallow (TFA)
- 1.0% Vanilla Custard
- .75% Vanillin 10% (TFA)
- .75% Cake Batter (CAP)
- .50% Coconut (TFA)
EDIT: A little more info: http://belleofthekitchen.com/2015/04/03/sunshine-cake/
I got the idea from searching google for "dessert ideas" and stumbled across this recipe. Looking at the ingredients I started to take notes based on what flavor profile would match the ingredients listed in the recipe.
Ingredients:
- Yellow Cake Mix: For this I decided to go with FW Yellow Cake because well it's delicious and is well Yellow Cake.
- Eggs: I used Custard which has a bit more of an eggy taste over pudding but low at 1% as to not be a dominant flavor.
- Crushed Pineapple with juice: TFA Pineapple to me tastes like fresh pineapple juice is super strong so used 1% as it is the dominant flavor in this mix.
- Whipped Topping: CAP Vanilla Whipped Cream is delicious when added with custard type vapes and again matches the flavor profile.
- Vanilla Pudding: FA Vienna Cream is more of a pudding to me than a custard almost like the filling found in a cream donut so was my choice for this.
Additional Ingredients: Thes alone to me didn't taste quite right so adding additional flavors in an attempt to round out some of the required ingredients such as "Vanilla Pudding"
- TFA Vanilla Swirl, TFA Vanillin 10% were used to bring some additional vanilla flavoring to the pudding profile of the cream for the cake.
- CAP Cake Batter was used to moisten up yellow cake and I think it compliments it well.
- TFA Coconut was used to add a sweetness to mix's whipped topping but at a low percentage as to not introduce any unwanted coconut flavoring.
- TFA Marshmallow this wasn't included in earlier trials but added it in an attempt to sweeten/soften the mix a bit which I feel it has.
The percentages are hugely from trial and error, taking notes and making adjustments. Hope someone gives it a shot I'd love some feedback from someone who is able to mix it up and give it a shot!
This sounds delicious. I do a pineapple cake with a bit of hazelnut and cappuccino flavoring for complexity, but found it funny that I also use only 1% pineapple flavoring. It is shocking at how overpowering the pineapple can be and how noticeable it is when using it at only 1% as it is.
Great breakdown by the way. This make me want to work on my flavor more using some of your reasoning.
I will be putting in a small order just to get the last few things I need food this. Looks good.
Finally got around to mixing this up. First impressions are very, very good. Well balanced with lots of layered flavors. Well done sir. Well done.
Thank you!! Glad you like it!
Man I had a delicious red velvet cake recipe that I came up with and I forgot to write it down. I've been kicking myself ever since.
Did you use TFA Red Velvet Cake? I have found it nearly unvapable except <1%. Even then it is not pleasant without a 3 month steep.
I did. I remember using TFA Red Velvet, FA Cocoa, LA Cream Cheese Icing, and a couple other flavors (I wanna say FW Yellow Cake or TFA Vanilla cupcake, and something to sweeten, prob FA Meringue). I remember it was harsh right away so I threw it in a drawer and didn't write down the recipe. I went back a couple weeks later and it was spot on Red Velvet cake with delicious cream cheese icing.
I bought "Yellow cake" but have no idea what to use it with so this will be great.
Definitely want to use an rda for recipes with it because it is a notorious coil gunker. I usually just throw some recipes together and I really like everything I use it in. Goes well with strawberry and blueberry. I just read something saying that it is supposed to mimic "tasty little yellow cakes" aka twinkies.
I usually just carelessy throw some recipes together depending how I feel. I generally enjoy everything that I use yellow cake in. Often it is a supporting flavor in a fruit and cream juice. I like it with blueberry and vanilla bean ice cream. For what it's worth, bcv lists it as a mimic of those tasty "little yellow cakes" aka twinkies.
