So far, I have found my niche in this hobby to be taking flavors that already exist and perfecting them. With that said, I present to you my juice of the week; Dreamsicle.
There is a pretty standard recipe in the beginner sticky to the right column. It started off with the base of orange cream and some other cream flavor, but it wasn't right. Too harsh, not sweet enough, no ice cream flavor. My recipe aimed to fix all these problems I felt it had in an effort to make it taste like I was actually biting into a dreamsicle.
-
Vanilla bean ice cream (tfa) 4%
-
Orange cream (tfa) 3%
-
Sweet Tangerine (cap) 2%
-
Marshmallow (tfa) 1%
-
Koolada (tfa) 0.5%
So, vanilla bean ice cream... We meet again. Holy crap, this flavor is awesome. I don't think I really need to explain the reasoning for this flavor as it should be fairly obvious. It's the perfect flavor for anything you are going to do that's ice cream based.
Orange cream is the main base for the orange flavor. As I mentioned above though, it a bit harsh. Taste like eating orange peel, not drinking orange juice. The vanilla bean ice cream smoothes this out a little bit, but it's not perfect at this point.
Sweet Tangerine. Bingo! This fixes the orange cream flavor. It's a bit more vibrant and sweeter. Pairs with the orange cream perfectly to create that dreamsicle flavor.
Marshmallow helps to smooth out the citrus and bring down the buttery vanilla bean ice cream while still adding that fluffy creaminess you want our of ice cream.
Koolada is another given for this. Makes your ice cream nice and chilly.
That's it. Hope you like it. Takes a few days to steep, but it's still pretty darn good as a shake and vape.
I've been struggling with a simple creamsicle flavor as well and agree with many of your observations. Thanks for sharing and I'll definitely be ordering the Vanilla Bean Ice Cream to give it a try.
Vanilla bean ice cream is an absolute must!
I've been substituting it with French Vanilla Deluxe in all of my juices while I wait until I make another order, am I missing out that much?
I have no idea what a Dreamsicle is so I did some research for myself and others who may not know either
>Dear Cecil:
>OK, Popsicles and Fudgesicles I understand. So what's the difference between a Creamsicle and a Dreamsicle?
>— C.S., Chicago
>Cecil replies:
>The sherbet-like shell of the Creamsicle is identical to that of the Dreamsicle, but the payoff inside is ice cream in the former, ice milk in the latter. The difference in price, last time I checked, was about a nickel.
It's like an orange, creamy popsicle
That sounds like a creamsicle
So no butter cream? Interesting. Will try
don't have cap sweet tangerine, but I have cap juicy orange, do you think that will work?
How mild is the juicy orange? To me the sweet tangerine is very mild but of course everyone is different. So if the juicy orange is much more in your face you might use a bit less.
This. I haven't tried it so I can't say. However, sweet Tangerine is very pleasant, light, sweet, and fruity. If juicy orange is harsh or has a punch like most citrus, go easy on it.
Capella's Orange Creamsickle is a good hit as a single flavor, but I do 8% plus 1% Koolada. fwiw
I subbed Orange Cream TFA for Orange Creamsicle CAP in my recipe, but it just didn't work out. Not enough orange. Does it work out better by itself? It does smell really good! Just didn't vape as well.
