Another Placid clone attempt. Getting closer...
submitted over 9 years ago by 360joules

Well, it seems like every time I run out of Placid, I make another attempt at refining a clone.

This version is, flavorwise, the closest I've come so far. I chose the flavors one at a time, by tasting them at full strength.

All of my previous attempts were way too honeysuckle-heavy, and lime-light, and the strawberry has always been an afterthought. Logically, I started trying to find the right strawberry. The strawberry I settled on is the VG strawberry from Northwest. It's sweet and strawberry-candy-ish, and tasted on its own, made me think of Placid.

Next, I focused on the lime. Inawera Limetka is nearly the perfect lime, and becomes even better when supplemented with a small proportion of Lime Tahity Cold Pressed.

With Placid, the lime is in the forefront, and the honeysuckle is well behind it and the pear, so I adjusted the proportions accordingly.

All of that said, this version still isn't right. It's not right, but it's closer than I've come before.

Anyway, here it is: http://tjek.nu/r/34W3

I applaud your efforts. One day when I take the DIY dive this will be one of the first recipes I try. I assume the "leaked" one was accurate?

Which leaked one?

From some supposed ex-adirondack employee. They then deleted the recipe and said it was a test of loyalty or something. It was a weird 30 minutes.

I missed that... Did anybody write it down, at least? Lol
