Many of you are already voicing some discontent with the new /u/DIY_EjuiceTron5000 bot requesting you flair your posts.
This is a very very simple system that everyone will grow to love (way beyond confident in that statement. It will make searching and filtering past posts 1000x easier as well as allowing users to browse for specific categories of items instead of having to read every new post that arrives on the sub.
The bot is still under construction. We will also be making some CSS adjustments in the next few days to make the flairing option more apparent (this part is beyond me but I guess it's hidden in the CSS and skiddlz or inertia will correct in the next couple of days).
We are still building out additional flairs and will adjust the way the system works as we go.
Please be patient.
For more details on how flairing can be incredible effective, check out /r/personalfinance.
To make my job easier when I'm launched, please get in the habit of flairing your posts. If you can't find a flair that applies, please let /u/skiddlzninja know so it can be remedied. Thank you.
Bwahahahaha.
I have to get the post delay worked out a little bit, I admit he is somewhat overzealous right now.
There's a specific type of post (fundraisers) in a sub I moderate that is the only post type that we require to be flaired. As the rules about it are posted in the sidebar, we delete unflaired fundraiser posts on sight with a note to the poster to feel free to resubmit according the the sidebar rules.
As it stands, your bot annoys everyone who reads the posts rather than just the poster. Consider auto-deleting unflaired posts with a note to fix and resubmit?
It's an option for the future but not mandatory at this point.
Eventually it will be designed to:
1.) Link to WIKI for FAQ's based on keywords
2.) Inform the poster of any unflaired post and instruct them to flair it with a link on how and suggestions for appropriate flair.
For the next 30 days or so while it's under construction, it will just be informing every poster to flair their post to get people in the habit.
We made flairs a requirement with no enforcement more than a year ago and it clearly never worked. Just trying to make the sub cleaner and easier to navigate for current as well as future users.
That would be so many posts holy shit. I have 19 inbox messages from the bot posting on unflaired posts. We just need to have it wait until a post is like 5 minutes old before posting flair reminders.
And like I've been saying all day, the flair reminders is just phase 1, it's temporary. The bot will be fully functional by February, and will use the flair that you all will come to know and love to give suggestions and sidebar links to users.
No more "read the sidebar," this bot will post what of the sidebar pertains to your post so that new users don't have to search for something they may have missed.
It will also benefit mobile users, because instead of trying to find a way to view the sidebar, the relevant information will be posted directly to their submission by the bot.
So clicked the example link in OP's post A little depressing
