Test, test, test ... is this thing on?
Mike is a testing flavor, but a decent one. I'm doing a shootout and writeup of marshmallow, comparing every major vendor in a head to head between now and Christmas.
I've worked out "comparative percentage strengths" between the different flavors, and in addition to preparing single mixes of them, I also needed a test bed that:
- Would be decent enough to actually vape
- Used flavors familiar to all intermediate (and most beginner) mixers
- Highlighted the marshmallow enough to do a comparative analysis
I started with a crowdpleaser, /u/NotCharlesManson's September winner strawberry shortcake bar, and ripped it down to it's essentials: strawberry, sweet stuff, crumbly stuff, creamy stuff.
I removed the cream, as it would steamroll the marshmallow, and I began construction with the marshmallow I'm most familiar with, TPA. The result is this test bed, emphasizing the sweet stuff instead of the strawberry and an tiny touch of graham to keep it interesting. I like it, and I feel some version of it may stay in my rotation in the future, if I don't burn out on it this week. It evokes those fluffy strawberry marshmallows I had forgotten exist until I tasted it, with a bit of texture from the cracker.
Since it's a simple mix and a shake and vape, I'd love to hear more opinions on it to add data to the marshmallow study I'm doing.
Ingredient|% :---|---: Graham Cracker (Clear) (TPA)|2 Marshmallow (TPA)|4 Strawberry (Ripe) (TPA)|4
Flavor total: 10%
The other MM percentages follow, if you're interested in doing the whole study with me:
Flavor|% :---|---: TPA Toasted Marshmallow|4 CAP Marshmallow|4.8 FA Marshmallow|3 FW Marshmallow|4 LA Marshmallow|6
Testing protocol: I'll be mixing at 3mg/ml nic, 70/30 VG/PG and vaping at 40 watts on a single parallel 0.4 coil derringer, halfway open.
Thanks for the shoutout, brotherman. I'll have to give this a try later. Looks tasty!

Big fan of your scientific approach to testing flavors.
Strawberry Ripe and I don't get along well enough for me to do the whole study with you using this test bed, but I'm a marshmallow admirer who is intermittently working on a handful of marshmallow-heavy recipes and eagerly awaiting the results to find out whether I'm going to have to order FW and/or LA marshmallows to perfect them or can just keep tinkering with the other four.
Lotta Circ Jerk happening in here.
Recipe looks dope! I used to use marshmallow for my main ingredient for awhile! Gives stuff a fluffy full bodied taste without the custard/cream being super crazy! I had a recipe similar to yours except it was 3% Strawberry TPA and 1% Dulce De leche.
I like this idea. What about TFA toasted marshmallow? I have FW, CAP, and FA. I'll bite and mix the 3 tonight.
I'll bite as well, on the first one the 2nd the percentages are too high for my taste. Sounds good I like Marshmallow.
