Strawberry frosted vanilla cupcake (Recipe/development)
submitted almost 10 years ago by ohm-society

Right out of the barrel this stuff smells like cake! I have been trying to create a very cakey tasting cupcake for quite some time.

I enjoy a sweet ripe strawberry combo and it definitely works here. The strawberries and cream cheese icing seem to get blended with the vanilla swirl nicely. I highly adore the way the marshmallow grabs hold of the berries and cream and just pulls everything together. I tried this without it and it just is not the same. Before adding the marshmallow, the flavours had been singing at different pitches. After adding the marshmallow, they began to sing in harmony, it's like they found their conductor! This combination really tastes like a strawberry frosting with a very pleasant mouth feel. The vanilla bean ice cream mixed with the vanilla cupcake and it's supporting flavors of YC/CBD gives a rich cake-y-ness that I just adore in my vapes.

Not overly sweet, just right. Creamy sweet strawberry frosting inhale, followed by a rich vanilla cupcake exhale.

I highly doubt that this is my finish line but I thought I'd share a recipe that I am just loving hot off the press. I will be posting my thoughts and possible suggestions as this ages.

I am trying to stay away from custards, as they currently, and have been, in everything I vape! If you want to add a custard such as CAP's VC1 just replace the VBIC with it and maybe up the percentage from 2-3% depending on your love for custards. It works great but their is a noticeable spiciness to CAP's custards that can interfere on the delicate fluffy oooooooo-so-delicious vanilla cupcake.

Flavour Breakdown (14.5%)

Strawberry Ripe (TPA) @ 4.5%

Sweet Strawberry (CAP) @ 1.5%

Cream Cheese Icing (LOR) @ 1.25%

Vanilla Swirl (TPA) @ 1%

Marshmallow (TPA) @ .75%

DX Vanilla Cupcake (TPA) @ 2.5

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (CAP) @ 2%

Cake Batter Dip (FW) @ .75%

Yellow Cake (FW) @ .25%

Recipe breakdown:

6% Fruit

3.5% Cake

3% Cream

2% Sugar

Lastly,

may the Force be with you,

p.s. no spoilers please!

You mention vanilla bean ice cream, but I don't see any in the recipe. This looks good! I'm excited to give it a try!

I looked around for cake batter dip by Capella but couldn't find it. The only thing I could find was Cake Batter Dip by FW. I could find Cake batter by Capella is that what you meant or could you link for me where you got that?

Thanks in advance - can't wait to check this out.

Just updated. Sorry about that, its cake batter dip by FW. It's actually a very nice flavour profile to build your recipes off of. I find I get notes of vanilla, butter, whipped egg whites, sugar, and a very light cookie reminiscent flavour.

CBC also adds to the mouth feel which I love in my cakey vapes

Boy I tell you that Cake Batter Dip is truly something else!! I almost feel like I'm cheating when I use it; it just tastes that good. I'll have to try using it the way you do here at <1%.

It's meant to be a bridge between the cake and the creams as it is a flavor that lies somewhere in between. It really is a great flavour! Mix this up and let me know what you think! :)

Hey I don't know if you have experience here, but I don;t have TFA VC just CAP Vanilla cupcake.. so did you specifically pick TFA or was it what was on hand? Thanks for the recipe

Just something I needed to use up. Been sitting around for too long. It's good, but it just needs a little extra help. I use Yellow cake and Cake batter dip to bring out more of that soft, spongy, feel and taste that I know I love. You can play with the percentages of either of the two, while still keeping the VC dominant body. The VBIC lends a hand there too. Adding the buttery, egg-y, vanilla, notes, and becomes the bridge between the cream and the cake.

Dependant on your taste and liking for CAP's Vanilla cupcake, if you think it's strong then you can lower the Cake/CBD or vise versa. Let me know how to goes!
