What is your favourite thing to mix with RY4D (TFA)?
submitted almost 10 years ago by tchefacegeneral

I absolutely love RY4D and have bought a ton of it and so far have only tried mixing it with creams (barvarian) and caramel. I have a feeling it would work really nicely with maybe some different sharp fruits like blackberry or raspberry but haven't had a chance to try yet.

What are you favourite mixes with RY4D?

How do you prefer to use it? Does any of you dilute 10.00ppm solution with PG/VG? I've been just dropping some drops as is and as my feeling at that time. I am terrible.

I also use the drop method with AP , it's very strong so you got to just sample until you can start to taste it and adjust accordingly.

My Apple 'Bacco is really good to me. Here's the recipe if you want to try:

7% TFA RY4 Double

2.5% FA Fuji

1% FA Butterscotch

1% FA Vienna Cream

It's good right after mixing, but best after about 2 weeks.

Mixed some up about a week ago, still waiting another week to give it a try.

It should be good now. Not as dark, but I'm starting to actually prefer it before 2 weeks.

How would you say it is without the butterscotch? Any idea on alternatives?

You could try with .75% FA Caramel instead. The Butterscotch is adding a little buttery, dark sweetness.

4% TFA RY4D, 4% TFA banana nut bread. Reminds me of Ansel Adams from VTNW but it is missing something to make it a clone

I'm fairly certain Ansel Adams uses RY4 Asian rather than Double.

I will have to order some and try it. A clone of Ansel is something I've been looking for.

My recipe for that is

  • Banana nut Bread(TPA) 6%
  • RY4 Double(TPA) 7%
  • Banana(FA)0.50
  • Hazelnut(TFA)0.50%
  • 555 Tobacco (FW) 1.00%
  • Vanillin(TPA) 0.50%

Im still workin on it, and it's been a long time since I've tried the original Ansel Adams. But i agree that he's using RY4 asian. Probably a bit strong on the banana's here as well, but i feel like im close.

I can see it working really well with INW Pistachio but I haven't tried it yet. I haven't tried other pistachios but INW's is amazing btw.
