I forgot to take my bottle of juice with me today so I stopped by my local B&m to get a bottle of what is considered premium juice (not over the top premium but a juice I had read about and enjoyed prior to me making my own juice). I hated it, it was so sweet, I've been spoiled by being able to mix to my own taste that it is hard to enjoy what I used to consider pretty awesome stuff. Anyone else experienced this? I feel like it is a sort of validation that I'm on the right track with DIY but also worried that I should be able to enjoy good store juice.
The only juice I can vape since DIY is B-X Vapor. I'm not saying that there aren't other vendors I could go with too but Horcha-ta-tas and Watermelon Crack are both great still. Most everything else I've tried is meh.
I picked up a bunch of highly regarded juices on black Friday. I was disappointed by 80% and wowed by none. My DIY stuff is still not where I want it to be either so it's kinda rough.
My preferred sweetness/intensity lies somewhere in between...
So yes. I agree. I never thought I'd say it but vendor juice is too sweet or pure custard...
I'm not where I want to be either. I've only found about four recipes that I like and I'm always tweaking. But I'm actually concerned that I can't just count on buying some commonly accepted good juice. I want to sample other stuff but I feel like my palette is getting biased
I had some friends at a recent party who now vape try my stuff because they didn't even know you could even make your own and they loved it. But that only further confused me because I was paranoid that they were just being polite but then I thought "maybe a lot of it out there is sh*t"
This started happening to me pretty quickly after I got into DIY. I would go into a B&M they'd try to push their house line of Strawberry flavor that everyone's raving about and I'd ask them if they had anything floral or weird that they couldn't place into a category and have them just look at me like I was crazy as I taste test one after the other highly recommended juice they have and give them the unimpressed face.
EDIT: I even had a guy get frustrated with me and try to school me on vaper's tongue this one time. LOL. I did not have vaper's tongue... I did however have spoiled DIYer tongue.
I'm on board. Bought A bottle of highly regarded "Premium" juice online for black friday. Vaped it back before I mixed, and it was great. Got it in the mail, vaped on it for roughly 4 minutes, then gave it to my neighbor. Was complete rubbish. So bad, I wondered if I got a bad batch. Then I remembered I have also bought 4 other blends from said manufacturer, all of which were also crap. DIYORDIE
Some people probably don't care but for me, things like perfume definitely change and need some time to settle down after being in the mail. I assume it is pressure changes or temperature changes. If I give a perfume a few days then it starts smelling like what it is supposed to smell like.
I follow the same policy with things I get in the mail for vaping. I don't mind tasting it out of the package but I'm not eilling to throw it out without giving it a few days to settle down. Maybe it doesn't matter for vape stuff though.
I almost made this same post yesterday. I bought a bottle of one of my old favorites this weekend, just because it's a complex recipe that no one has nailed yet, and I can't figure it out. Way too strong, way too harsh, and way too thin. I'm going to try and cut it when I mix tomorrow and see what that does.
With all the responses here, and OP, I'm very anxious to get my kit (should be here Sat). If DIY is this good, then I can't wait!
I'm not a pro by any means but a couple suggestions, be patient, it might take time to figure out what mix works for you. And maybe look up some clone recipes for your favorites, it's a good way to figure out what you like without too much risk.
Congrats though, there's certainly a sense of pride in vaping something really kickass and knowing that you made it yourself too. Not to mention the savings means you can mix a huge bottle for less then your local vape shop wants for a 30ml and not have to worry about running out.
I was lucky enough to win a Vapor Trails NW contest for 3x50ml recently. I wasn't disappointed even after DIY'ing for well over a year now. They make quality stuff. I don't enter contests much anymore, especially for juice, but I know they make some quality liquid.
