In a recent post I recognized we could add something really useful to the sidebar for new mixers. We need a list of solid, minimal ingredient recipes that can be used to create a shopping list for first-order or relatively new mixers. It would be similar to "my first order flavors", but with good recipes that people can base first orders on.
Here's the guidelines:
- Recipes you've tried and liked
- Minimal number of flavors - IMO the limit should be 5, if it's 2 or 3 even better
- Ingredients should be pretty useful and versatile for other mixes
A perfect example (and the one I'm submitting) is Mustard Milk. Two ingredients, tastes good, and the flavors can be used all over the place.
Post rules:
- Post the recipe (duh)
- Include the creator with the /u/ tag and link to the original post of the recipe (both where applicable)
- You can post your own recipes
- Top level posts must be a recipe; if you want to comment on this thread there is a single top-level post for that as well.
Voting rules: To make sure we end up with a solid end result, please don't vote on a recipe you haven't tried.
Results will be consolidated and added to the sidebar. Thanks for your participation.
Mustard Milk by /u/fizzmustard:
Strawberry (TFA) @ 6%
Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TFA) @ 8%
I get strong black pepper off of this recipe. Tried several known good nicotines too (10mg). Something about that VBIC~
Placid clone by /u/fizzmustard:
- TFA Strawberry 4%
- TFA Honeysuckle 4%
- TFA Pear 4%
- FA Lime Tahity Cold Pressed 1%
GGG, I win =)
In all seriousness though...
3-4% FLV Pink Guava
1-2% EM
Come on man. FLV is cheating ;)
How is FLV cheating? Just wondering as I never heard of them until now.

I love this one.
Hard to find a custard as good as this one. Also makes a great custard base to work with of you want to add fruits.
I'm thinking about adding this in place of the straight CapV1 in this
A very close JTJM Strawberry Astronaut Clone by /u/Chrononaught and I:

- TFA Apple - 1%

Fucking delicious! :) thanks for the credit!
This looks tasty! Do you think it would taste close with FA Fuji instead of the apple, as I don't have apple, but a ton of Fuji?

I screwed up the first time I ever made this by misreading the percentages of fruit and cream I had written down and came up with a delicious variation:
TPA Bavarian Cream(or LA, different in a nice way) 7% (6% LA)
TPA Pear 6%
CAP Mashmallow 1% (for mouthfeel)
TPA Coconut Extra 1%
Also, try strawberry, blueberry, jackfruit, raspberry, pretty much any fruit really for nice variations.
Strawberry Custard by me 70g/30pg
- TFA Strawberry - 4%
- CAP Sweet Strawberry - 2%
- CAP Vanilla Custard (V1) - 8%
How much step time? Going to mix this as soon as I get back in to town.
It's actually pretty good as a shake and vape. But after a week or two it really shines, if you can let it sit that long before going through the bottle! I usually mix two 30's, one to vape and one to steep

Thank you. I've been lurking here for a long time, still trying to figure out if the whole DIY thing is for me... This will probably push me over the edge. :)
It's one of the personally most useful posts I have seen here for a long time, giving me the opportunity to potentially get started with mixing at a reasonable cost, without having to trawl though literally hundreds of recipes and having to spend lots of money on flavours that I know nothing about and have no way of judging...
Again, thank you very much!
take the money you would spend on a bottle of juice, order a few supplies and flavors and see how it makes you feel. i started recently and find that id rather buy the ingredients and a steep discount and customize my juice rather than buy some pre-made juice that i may or may not like.
I will :) Problem is that my ADV is Halo/Purity's Tiki Juice... that's what got me off the cigs originally, and I haven't found anything to replace it. Unfortunately, it's one of those juices that seems to be too complex to "just clone", but not popular enough for somebody with the necessary skills to get serious about attempting it. And unfortunately, there's no way that I could do it, with the limited resources (time and moneywise) that I have.
Regardless, I'll definitely give DIY a try... :)
Tigers blood
TFA Strawberry 12% TFA watermelon 6% TFA coconut extra 1%
Found this here, somewhere months ago and I cant get enough of it.
I'm still trying to hone in on this recipe using Flavor Art ingredients. I haven't tried any other type. I feel I get what the recipe is going for, haven't quite figured out proper ratios.
I've been trying to do the same thing, but I don't think FA Coconut is going to get it done. It tastes too much like real coconut and not enough like the coconut flavoring found in tiger's blood snow cones.

This is one of the first recipes I mixed when I started and I still come back to from time to time. If you don't have these flavors on your first order list go add them right now, you won't regret it.
Ever tried it with New York Cheesecake?

> This flavor has a very candy like profile to it, that is a touch tart but tons sweet. You get a wild berry fruit punch profile laced in sugar and blended up. Great right after mixing. Easy for newer mixers because you can be a little lenient on the percentages and still have an excellent mix.
Monster Melons by random search, adapted by me:
4% Cap Sweet Mango
4% FA Cantalope
4% TFA Papaya
Let it be for 3 days, unless you are tough.
To make it even more simple cantaloupe and mango can also be swapped out for TFA's version, just adjust the percentages up by 1-2%!
Im sure it would be just as good. Man, that papaya is the star tho! I really need to play with it more.
Both sons-in-law just got 200ml each of this, and one has ordered honeydew to try in the next batch.
Just mixed this one up, nice as a shake and vape. Never had the original Mother's Milk so can't comment on it's accuracy as a clone but it's a very nice simple strawberry custard.

Root beer by /u/ReverendSaintJay
TFA root beer 8%
TFA Wintergreen 2%
TFA VBIC 2%
This needs to steep for about 4 days and makes a very nice root beer juice.
Can confirm, cracked open a bottle of this that I made a couple of weeks ago and it gets even better with age. :)
One of the things I like about this recipe the most is that you can source it all from the same vendor, no need to order a half dozen bottles from multiple vendors.
Here is a Recipe I found by accident. I had made a single juice flavor of TFA pumpkin just to see what it tasted like. When I finished vaping it I used some TFA peach I was wanting to get a stand alone flavor for as well. The residue in my tank from the pumpkin mixed with the peach and gave it a very nice spice flavor. I mixed some up and it is now one of my favorite simple flavors.
Peach Spice.
TFA Peach 9%
TFA Pumpkin spice 1%
I originally tried the TFA pumpkin and found it did not have enough spice to it so I tried the TFA Pumpkin spice and that hit it perfectly.
I know there are already several Strawberry recipes but this is one that I use and my friends seem to constantly ask for.
Strawberry
TFA Strawberry 8% or Strawberry ripe for a little more strength in the Strawberry.
TFA Dragonfruit 2%
The Dragonfruit brings out the flavor of the Strawberry and gives it a bit of tartness.
I love my Coke Spider. For those non-Aussies; we call adding a carbonated beverage to icecream a 'Spider,' not a 'Float.'

I feel like any new DIY member should just look for recipes they think they would like and try them. The big problem is if you don't like a certain concentrate then you will not like a recipe with that flavor. Then there is percentages you pretty much have to find your personal threshold for percentages. This is probably what makes a lot of DIY members quit early on. If you use too much flavor of something you like you will just go past your threshold and it will either taste weak or like medicine "yes too much of one flavor can block its self out". If you don't have a few flavors you like to make one recipe and try going with a single flavor recipe you will end up feeling like the juice is too simple or weak also. There is tons of trial and error in making juice that is good. Especially if you don't have the same threshold for flavors as most people. I can't do over a few percent of one flavor and notice that even for premixed juices I have to thin them out.
It was super easy as it was for people to find recipes , simple ones or not , i guess people just don't want to make any effort whatsoever anymore and want others to make it even more simple than it already was .
Just the other day it was talked about to not include any recipes , total confusion that is not needed imo.
The "sidebar" already has an overload of everything a beginner would need and then some , including basic recipes . If anything make people be more active and responsible not lazier and less active.
