Homemade GooGone for Bottle Cleaning
submitted almost 10 years ago by toxicUSA

1 part baking soda and 1 part vegetable oil. Makes a paste-like substance, I use a small resealable container to store it in. Shake well before each use. Scrub the sticker goo/anything else off with a dipped finger then use straight dish soap to get the oily residue off. My recipes are ass so I thought I'd share this. =)

To add to this, try these labels out. No sticky residue at all. I've been using them for a few months and haven't had to scrape or scrub anything off when I change labels.

I struggle with getting these to stay on glass bottles, and plastic? No way in hell. I tried a heatgun to warm up the goo after I stuck them recently which seemed to help.

If u don't mind me asking...what kind of printer do u use for these? Is there a certain software u use to make labels?

I just write on them with an ink pen.

From what I've seen on here, a lot of people use the free software Avery provides for these. I've been meaning to get a printer and try making my own in Photoshop, but I'm too cheap to buy a printer just for that haha

Hey, that's pretty handy to know! I use naptha to clean residue off of various things, but obviously I'm not going to use that on anything that touches juice. I'll have to give this a try for juice bottles and whatnot!

Too much effort, I just soak the bottle in hot water and let the label fall off on its own.

I would highly recommend you do not use this on plastic bottles unless you want them all scratched up.

Hot water and soap will take off residue from just about any labels with a soft towel.

You can also use almost any essential oil to remove label gunk. Comes off super easy.

Just use Lamp oil. You know the kind they use for outside torches? It's cheap and works great.
