So I'm out of PG and my cash is all spent. I've always made 80+% VG juice, is that enough for a throat hit? I've been questioning whether I get a throat hit this entire time. Yeah, dumb question I know. I've been tinkering with a 59/59 mix I've made of dw/vg at 3% and I was able to get my gfs Fizzy Limeade which is 93% VG to not dry hit in the single coil build of her bellus, and she says there's throat hit, but she also has a very weird taster. Do any of you guys thin out your low flavor percentage mixes with dw or just use PG?
To me, PG only provides throat hit at about 40% and higher. Anything below that, it only acts as a flavor carrier (IMO). Nicotine gives throat hit for high VG juice. Distilled water will not give you that; it will only thin it out for better wicking. Pure Grain Alcohol is another option; it thins and gives (very minimal) throat hit.
Up your nicotine a tiny bit. That's my 2 cents. I've made 100% VG juices at 3mg nic and it has plenty of throat hit for me.
Okay, sounds good. I was just reading some stuff from abdaba (I think that's his username), that he was experimenting with Distilled water and it carried flavor a little more and also added throat hit. He was experimenting up to 30% but that was WAY too much he said. It likely lowers the boiling point of the entire juice and allows more vapor to be produced and maybe would make it a little more dense. So I was reading at least, but I've gotten no replies after asking him a few details.
Well he's the expert lol. Not me.. This is solely based on my trial and error opinion. I think DW and PGA are viable options for those with PG sensitivity, but if there's no sensitivity or allergy, I'd say stick with PG. As far as vapor production; yes VG produces more vapor. But that's not to say a 70/30 or even a 60/40 mix won't produce a decent amount of vapor (just not "cloud-chasing" amounts).
Ugh. "Cloud chasing" I hate it. I don't think that's what vapings all about. I prefer nice little coils, and average vapor. I just prefer VG for other reasons. I won't go over 30PG and I normally go for around 75 with things like my blue raz clone.
If I remember correctly, he was going to be awol for a bit, due to his work schedule? (which is probably why you haven't received any reply, as of yet.)
Distilled water adds throat hit. Substaintially. Especially with high nicotine solutions.
PG carries flavor best.
I always mix max VG for reduced throat hit. Specific flavours add throat hit but I haven't notice DW adding any additional TH to mixes. I use it at small percentages to thin out some juices that are just too thick for most sub-ohm tanks. I am using a Bellus right now with a 15% total flavour and 1% DW, no throat hit at all. Viscosity seems around the same as an 80/20 mix.
