Argon top-off for finished juice?
submitted almost 10 years ago by Hyacin75

So I was going on about IconoclastMunky's Peanut Butter Cup and filling the air with it's wonderful smell the other day, when an analog user got all excited and said that may be the straw that gets her to switch to vaping!

So, naturally, as soon as I got home after, I made her a little 15 ml batch to help encourage her to make the switch!

Now I know this specific juice is said to get better and better with more and more age, but even this will have a breaking point where the nic goes bad - and for all I know this could be sitting in a drawer or something for 6 months, a year, two years? Who knows!

I know some aging is required, again, for this specific recipe, to make it REALLY pop, and it's been about a week now, so it should be pretty killer, so - do I top it off with some argon now?

Any reason not to other than that it may hold the steeping at a week? Does the steeping in this case (and in general) have to do with oxidation? Or is it the acid in the lemon juice doing something? Or does that something require oxygen even, so it'll stop that too?

Oxygen is not the steep factor as osmosis/homogeneity is? So not sure it would matter to anything but colour? The lemon/acid is doing something as well but that is another discussion about how citric reacts with nic and acts as a preservative? Interested in the argon for Nic storage.

Assuming TFA Lemon is citric acid, it should make the other flavors pop or make them brighter. There's also the possibility it will mute the flavor over time, according to /u/skiddlzninja, but that is in the case of fruit flavors

Argon is kindof overkill unless you're storing it past 3-4 months.

Any time two or more chemicals come into contact with one another, chemical reactions are going to happen.

Considering almost every flavouring is comprised of 2-5 aromatic compounds or more, there's a shitton of reactions going on in every bottle. Oxygen is not the prime factor of curing. Time & osmosis of the flavours/pg by the VG are.

So, it will continue to cure while the argon slows the oxidation & breakdown of nicotine.

Sweet! It sounds like the perfect solution then since from what I've read, the only thing that can really spoil a bottle of juice in the 6-24 month time frame is the nic breaking down! Thanks!

Keep in mind nic breaks down between 60 or 65 and 80F, albeit slower if there is no oxygen present.

Do you make this with or without the lemon juice??

With. Haven't tried without, but holy HELL it's good with, so I can't imagine myself ever making it any other way :-)

Can I use the store bought stuff in the little plastic lemons?

As far as I've read, yes. I use Real Lemon because I've already got it around anyway. Bear in mind though, I'm not a doctor, or a chemist, or anything of the sort! I'm pretty sure a search of this sub for lemon and quite a bit of time reading is what lead me to believe it is safe though. I'd say do a bit of research for yourself first to be sure though! Don't want you coming back and cursing me out in 6 months when they decide x, y or z is toxic ;)
