A lot of things have came up in my personal and business life lately, so I unfortunately haven't been able to mix or browse this sub as much as I'd like. This is one of the few things I've been working on in the little time I've had. I've really enjoyed creating this recipe because orange creams tend to not be very diverse, and this is a very seasonal take on them.
Bloodsicle
Flavor | Percent ---|--- FW Blood Orange | 4% FLV Raspberry | .5% FA Catalan Cream | 2.5% TPA Bavarian Cream | 2% FA Anise | .2% FA Cinnamon Ceylon | .8% FLV Clove | .2%
FW Blood Orange - This is a very realistic flavor in my opinion, and was chosen because of that. It's probably the best orange flavor of any type I've tried, and definitely a favorite of mine. Although this flavor is great, it's very sharp, and seems to be missing some of the deeper notes the actual fruits have. If you're after a blood orange flavor or just a fan of citrus in general, I'd definitely pick this up.
FLV Raspberry - Blood oranges have a slight raspberry taste to them, and this really helps bring it out. A lot of raspberry flavors have a candy taste to them, but this one really adds the deeper and more berry like notes I was after.
FA Catalan Cream - This flavor makes a great building block for the cream base. It already has slight citrus and spice notes, so fits perfectly into the recipe. Using this alone though, the cream and blood orange doesn't blend well, and still has a very sharp, terpeney flavor.
TPA Bavarian Cream - In addition to the catalan cream, this makes an excellent cream base for the flavor. It helps give a more realistic cream taste, but was primarily chosen over others due to it's high amounts of EM. The EM really helps tone down the sharpness of the blood orange, and the recipe really doesn't work at all without this flavor.
FA Anise/FA Ceylon Cinnamon/FLV Clove - These three flavors work very well together, and are what turn this from a blood orange cream into a very seasonal flavor. FA Anise is very strong, but a bright, realistic flavor that really adds a lot to this mix. FA Ceylon Cinnamon was chosen because it's the only pure cinnamon flavor I have. That being said, it's still an excellent flavor and works perfectly in this mix, but FLV Rich Cinnamon may be better and worth experimenting with. I'm not sure if FLV Clove could be any more realistic, it's absolutely spot on to cloves, and really finishes off the holiday spice taste.
Hope you all like it! If you mix it, please let me know what you think.
