The standard nic levels almost every juice company offers. A few offer 1.5 and the odd (vape moar) 2-4-8-16 mg levels. Some companies offer custom levels also. As someone who (as many others) dropped my nic level starting from 18mg. and going down to now 6mg. Now that I've begun DIY, one of the first things I noticed when entering info into my recipe calculator is your desired nic level. I started by habit to just enter 6mg. then thought, hey, why not drop just 1mg. and try 5mg. After awhile I may drop to 4mg. I was also thinking about mixing a bottle at a slightly higher nic for those stress days, or nights out drinking, or whenever I can't vape for extended periods of time. Just an added benefit of DIY that I hadn't considered before starting. Does anyone else customize their nic levels to suit their needs?
It's similar to how IT guys know the powers of 2 pretty well.
1 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 256 512 1024 2048 4096 8192 16384 (this is where I had to get the calculator).
16384 mg/ml is for a pretty hardcore vaper. Time and space bending mot&#$f%#$er.
Also, if you code, you must know 32768 - that's where the Character generator ROM was in a VIC-20. Addresses 8000-8FFF.
I think I might have just dated myself.
The Vic 20's (or at least early ones) had a fatal flaw. The power chord could be plugged into the input port. 8 year old me found that and toasted my brother's new computer. I got an extra big brother beating that day.
I will somewhat date myself along with you.
I vape 2 mg. I went to 2.5, then 3mg for about two weeks when I was only getting 3-6 hours of sleep every night a few weeks back.
I'm back down to 2mg now.
2mg/ml MASTERRACE
1.5 REPORTING IN
FUCK YOUSE GUISE
I typically mix 2mg but occassionally mix some 4mg batches of my typical ADV's when I know I won't be able to vape much during the day.
Usually I'm sitting around my office chain vaping 2mg every few minutes all day long. When I'm running appointments and in the car with others all day though, I vape rarely so I try to get my nic fix quick.
Just don't forget which is in your tank and get home and then chain vape for an hour on the 4mg or you wind up with a hell of a nicotine rush/headache...
I've been mixing 2mg for almost a year now. I mix 1mg sometimes but most of my recipes are set up for 2 and I'm too lazy to change them. My bowling partner still uses 18mg and when I mix something up for him it feels so wrong to put all that nic in the juice.
I mix for a guy who vapes 18 and I agree about the whole feeling wrong thing. Yesterday he asked me to try a juice that I made for him that totals at 10% TFA flavor. All I tasted was nicotine. Lol. I mix that one at 3 or 6 and it tastes so good but 18% nicotine basically cancels it out.
haha nice man.
I sell all my commercial juice at 0, 3, 6 etc.
but I almost always make my bottles personally at 3.5mg. at first it was a "muahaha because I can bitches!" thing. turned out I really liked it and it was perfect for me. I make 4.5mg precisely for those stress days you speak of :)
wow Doc! you must live on reddit...only 2 minutes since I posted! lol I kinda had the "muahaha" moment myself. The alchemist kinda takes over.
By the way, I enjoy your posts and your time on the podcast. I mostly lurk because I'm just starting out and really don't have much to contribute so far. That and I know how to use search and read the sidebar.
P.S. I shake the hell out of my nic thanks to you. (sorry crappy) <3
HAHAHAHA

see /u/crappy_guitarist . your sacrifice did not go in vain xD
and thanks man, glad you enjoy it :)
After two years of DIY'ing, I've gone from 24 to 18, 12, 6, 3, 1.5, and now I'm at 1. I find myself chain vaping a lot more than I ever did (which makes sense due to the lower nic) but I don't ever see myself going to 0. Then again, 2 years ago I never imagined being even close to 1mg.
Volcano only has 8 mg. Why 8. What in the fuck, Volcano.
Volcano is like the mac of vape... All trendy and fancy and totally worthless for anything resembling normal use

I did the same. Comfortably at 1mg now, and for the past few months. It's incredibly easy to taper off if you do it gradually. Highly recommended.

Also a great thing to do. Nothing wrong with modulating the dose occasionally. I've had no trouble vaping 6mg for an evening and going back to 1mg the following day.
Remember that nicotine intake is not just determined by the nic level of the juice, but the type of setup you are vaping with. 1mg/ml nicotine on a Protank II will be barely anything; but when dripped onto a 0.3ohm coil at high wattage, you'll be taking in a lot more vapor, thus a lot more nicotine.
a very important point - if you vape 10ml of 3mg/ml a day you are vaping 30mg of nic; if you vape 30ml of 3mg/ml you triple that to an intake of 90mg of nic.
further confusing the issue is the question of absorption and comparison to traditional methods of nicotine delivery (e.g. cigarettes, dip, pipes, etc). I can't find a reliable source for avg mg of nic per cigarette - i'm seeing numbers that range from 1mg per cigarette to 12-15mg per cigarette. Same thing for absorption - some studies claim as low as 5-10% absorption (so ~0.1mg per 1mg smoked) to as high as 80%. I can't find anything on nic absorption for vaping.
Yeah, I do. I've mixed higher mg liquid in the past, or intentionally brought out a bottle from a mg I aleady moved on from for situations like you stated, but just recently I thought about bringing a 5mg unflavored bottle around that way I always have that extra nic bump for emergencies, yet it won't mess with the flavor I'm vaping that day. I really don't like mixing up flavors in my drippers too often, especially from different flavor profiles, so that'd work perfect for me. It's in my list of to do's right now actually.
