Recipe - A Heady Brew
submitted almost 10 years ago by cannibalcastaway

Wow. I am really pleased with the way this turned out you guys. 5% TFA RY4 Double (I am in love with this. Always have been. Its not REALLY a tobacoo, its liquid sex)

11% FA SOHO (this is so rich and earthy and nutty. Its not fair to call it a tobacco. Much like TFA RY4 Double, the tobacco is the back tone with much more delicious things happeneing in the forefront)

4.5% CAP Vanilla Custard (no introductions needed)

2% TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (just to give it a smooth vanilla boost. You could sub a number of other things to achieve the same effect)

0.75% EM

Optional: Sweetener to taste.

This is really a great winter vape. Fantastic mouthfeel. I am so pleased with SOHO.

I will be experimenting with the additions of FLV caramel and perhaps Rich Cinnamon.

Have you tried Holy Vanilla? I've been adding .3-.5% to RY4D and it's fucking fantastic.

OSDIY is the only place that sells that correct? It's been on my list for months but I never have another reason to order from them.

Yep. It's worth it. I picked up a 30ml a while back. The only thing that bugs me is that it's in a hard plastic bottle.

Meh. I have bottles and pipettes. No biggie. I'm digging this TFA Vanilla Bean Gelato pretty hard at the moment though. HV is that much better?

One Stop DIY is different from DIY Flavor Shack.

DIYFS makes their own concentrates, & Holy Vanilla comes from them.

You're right. Sorry, I got my acronyms mixed up. We have officially transitioned from the "need coffee" part of the day to the "need booze" part of the evening.

11% SOHO? Yegads, man!

I mean, it sounds delicious, don't get me wrong. But is that a weak flavor?

What % does everyone else use soho at?

1 points

by ErantyIntalmost 10 years ago

Not sure. Just a huge shot of a single flavor in general. But if it's a weak concentrate, I get it.

FA's marketing materials for their flavours recommend 20% for Soho, so it seems like one of their weaker concentrates.

Ahhh, that makes sense.

I'm looking to get in to mixing tobaccos but am a little hesitant. This sounds like a good place to start.

Mind if I stick this up on ELR? That's where I keep my recipe book... I'd provide a link back to this post and full credit to you obviously.

Thanks for the post.

While my final mix wasn't mixed at the exact percentages and flavor manufacturers you went with, I wanted to take a moment and offer my personal experience with your recipe.

First, I should clarify that I did, initially, mix with your percentages, but the first week or two felt it was flavor heavy due to the VCV1. I also employed CAP VBIC as a substitution to TFA VBIC because I had only just received it and hadn't had any time to try it in anything. Ultimately, I ended up diluting this down, halving your percentages and omitting the "optional" EM entirely.

A Heady Brew (Lite) | | :--|--:| RY4 Double (TFA) | 2.5 Soho (FA) | 5.5 Vanilla Custard v1 (CAP) | 2.25 Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (CAP) | 1 Total Flavor | 11.25 VG / PG | 70 / 30 Nicotine (mg) | 9

EVIC VTC Mini / Velocity Clone / dual Kanthal 24g: .56Ω, 35~40w

All that said, after 9 months of DIY and having tried nearly a couple hundred recipes and never really finding one that I could call an "All Day Vape" (I don't make this statement lightly) this recipe is far and away the closest to an ADV (next to Rocket Puppy's RY4) that I've ever tried...

I was working on something very close to this when you posted; Having decided to try your mix, modified or not, I have finally arrived at a flavor I can hit all day long without much, if any, deviation -- I've always mixed with limited satisfaction resulting in a daily rotation of three to five different mixes, never really finding something/anything I felt I could stick with... But this, brother... THIS. I mixed RPRY4 after I mixed this, so I felt it only fair that your recipe receive my very first personal award of DIY ADV. Thanks for your contribution of this recipe -- I'm a happy monkey today, due in no small part to your contribution here.

Congratulations, brother...

This pleases me! I will for sure try out your variation. I can already tell without mixing it that its going to be good.

I like RPRY4 a lot too!

I am glad my recipe helped you find your sweet spot. I will keep on eye on any of your future recipe's since your tastes obviously align well with mine.

Take care!

I mixed another bottle at the original percentages and the VCV1 isn't quite as pronounced this second time around -- it's definitely good as is, but like my first mix (which I failed to note in my first reply), tastes salty and a bit scratchy on the throat. The scratchy, I'm sure, should tone down a bit after a couple of weeks aging, but the salty (from the Soho?) might be a bit too much. I'm gonna dilute half of the 30 I made last night and keep the other 15ml for tasting after a few weeks.

Still, totally bangin flavor... My favorite thus far.

Thanks again!
