anyone else stuck in mixing the same flavor profiles?
submitted almost 10 years ago by SenorPierre

I have enough flavorings to make a plethora of juices... but always come back to any one of my favorite strawberries and cream juices. I feel like I'm stuck in a rut.

My advice, don't force yourself to branch out , i was in the same situation as you and decided to just forget about mixing for awhile .

A few weeks later some flavor profiles just popped into my head that i had a craving for , i searched the net and found some highly rated recipes for it and then started mixing again.

Not mixing... Weeks? I find myself having crazy ideas pop in my head daily and I must mix them or I go crazy. My best ADV ever is dragonfruit/dark berry/strawberry coming in close second is Kiwi/strawberry/dark berry/marshmallow. Y u m. I switch them up alll the time.

Taking a break when you feel stuck helps a lot . It may be hard to stop but your mind clears and better ideas hit you , forcing yourself when things aren't going well does not help imo.

I don't like to think of it as "stuck in a rut" so much as I have a set of stable, known-good recipes that are the foundation of my DIY endeavor.

If I didn't have juices that I could always come back to, I wouldn't be able to experiment half as much as I have been.

I feel that. I have a good stable of about 5 juices I always come back to. when I do a flavoring order, I find about 3 recipes I want to try and order the smallest size of those, and the big bottles of the ones I know I like.

I'd say with my next BCV order I'll be buying 4oz bottles of all the strawberry.

You need to be sure with these things.

Oh yeah, I remember I use to be stuck on custards for like over 6 months.

you just gotta force yourself to branch out and some times it can almost be like re learning things.

my problem was learning how to make nice fruit mixes. but I have that covered now :)

I don't know if I would call it stuck in a rut, but I stick kinda close to one clone that I make all the time. I add a little, take out a little, swap one of the major flavors to get a different taste, but I always gravitate back towards that one clone that I really love. I've tried to clone some others that go in a complete different direction, but I haven't really found anything to break the pull away from where I've been. I'm sure if I was to find something else that really piqued my curiosity, I might be able to stay away from my stand by flavor for a while, but I just haven't found it yet.

Which clone you working with?

Suicide Bunny's O.B. It was always my go to juice, then all the sordid stories about them came out. I was starting DIY, so it was a good starting point. I found a few recipes online that were close, but no one was adding the coconut. It's a good base to start from. I'll throw organic strawberry at it instead of coconut. Changes it up enough to keep from getting vaper's tongue.

For sure. All I've mixed in the last month are fruit mixes. I keep fucking up everything else.

For sure. I go through phases like none other. There was the "Hawk Sauce" phase where everything was fruit and menthol. Now it's all fruit with either cake, cream, or custard. Never got on that cereal hype train though.

Ah man, I still want more hawk sauce...haha! My dad said something I made reminded him of it and I hadn't thought of it that way...now I'm scheming on it again.

I'm doing my nut right now waiting for payday because I've run out of TFA Lime, Strawberry and Vanilla Custard...

I've got enough other flavours to make up a whole bunch of other stuff, but my one signature juice is what I'm really craving cos I haven't had any for a week or so. I'm at the point where everything else pops really well at first but seems to fizzle out after a little while... What I really want, is my flavour.

Hah! Yep, buying 4oz bottles for stuff people wanted and then having interest drop off has caused me to use pineapple and juicy peach in everything! Haha!

Yep, I'm stuck in a Cinnamon Roll rut. Hopefully I'll find other recipes I like using my 80+ flavours, but in the mean time I'm not gonna sweat it.

I swear, I have tried to make a more full bodied cinnamon roll flavor but I just can't. Cap's CDS let me down.

10% FW Cinnamon Roll 3% Bavarian Cream 1% Ethyl Maltol

I tried doing 7% FW Cinnamon Roll and 3% CAP CDS, and I didn't like it, straight FW CR is much better IMHO.

maybe I've never had luck because I don't use EM in my mixes. I try to mix without as much as possible. if I feel like a particular mix needs a little sweetness I'll add TFA Marshmallow between 0.5 and 2%.

All I fucking do is make strawberry creams and custards and they all always taste like shit because I can't taste strawberry OR creams very well. I can't stop making them though. Although I did make one juice the other day, it was a NotCharlesManson's Unicorn milk clone, and it was actually really good as a shake vape. Then I misplaced my bottle.

I think I need to just do single fruit flavors or fruit pairings.

the main problem I run into with vaping the same profile is that after so long, you "forget" how to taste it. when I started DIY I probably vaped 150mls of Mustard Milk in my first week. I still haven't reacquired that taste for it yet.
