Posted not too long ago looking for basil and lemongrass flavors in an attempt to clone Ripe Vapes' Coconut Thai and was pointed to Nature's Flavors as an option. I ordered those two flavors plus coconut. All three came in yesterday and I was very pleased, they smelled exactly as I hoped - especially the basil which is crazy strong! Made two test batches of the clone and have almost nailed it already, just needs a little more tweaking :)

If you have a chance to sample the original Coconut Thai from Ripe Vapes, do it! I've probably vaped 4 or 5 bottles over the past year. It's really unique and so, so good. Hopefully I can nail the DIY, I'd love to keep supporting them but at $22/bottle I just can't anymore!
Just yesterday I was thinking about how much I loved the Ripe Vapes line. Let us know when you get that recipe nailed down or let me know what you have so far so I can place an order and help you work on it!
So far I'm at:
- Coconut 7%
- Lemongrass 3%
- Basil 1%
I think I'm going to leave the coconut as is, boost lemongrass to 4%, and drop basil to .5%. It's getting pretty close, but then again I couldn't wait for steeping. :D I speed-steeped by putting the mixing beaker in a cup of hot water and using a milk frother for a couple of minutes. This is such a simple recipe though it's fairly good as a shake & vape using that speed-steep to nuke some of the alcohol. :)
I LOVE Coconut Thai, I just can't pay $20 a bottle for it anymore. :P I have to hand it to Ripe Vapes for coming up with that flavor profile in the first place!
How does NF Coconut compare to other coconut options? I still haven't found a coconut I really like. FA Coconut isn't really super coconutty and TFA Coconut reminds me of coconut moisturizer and TFA Coconut Candy is good but not really a fresh 'coconut milk' kind of flavor.
It's definitely more of a fresh coconut, but since it's an extract and not a concentrate it doesn't seem as strong and "in your face" as others (I only have TFA Coconut Extra and Cap Coconut) - but it also doesn't smell or taste fake. I do like it and will definitely keep using it in this recipe instead of trying one of the others.
Are they safe to vape? Are they comparative to other flavorings I should say.
"Natural plant and vegetable extracts" get my ears twitching.
In what sense? According to their website these are straight up extracts made from their corresponding plants. At least, that's what I gathered. It's fairly common for DIYers (& juice companies) to make their own extracts for vaping, I'm just too lazy. :)
Now that said, it's true that vaping a plant extract could still be problematic; but considering we're also usually vaping any variety of chemical-based flavors I think it's a tossup. These are the only extracts I've bought, I have tons of TFA, Capella, and a couple of random FA and FW flavors but I actually feel a little better about vaping the extracts than I do the usual chemical flavors.
I thought about trying Cap or TFA coconut, TFA Mary Jane (suggested as a potential lemongrass) and then continuing to look for basil, but I remembered that Ripe Vapes specifically said they use extracts. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they're getting them from NF. The two test batches I made were off in the ratios but the flavors themselves taste and smell spot on, so it was the right call for this one!
The recipe looks great actually, I was just wondering about the flavors themselves, at 10$ for 30ml (not terrible, but not cheap) I just wanted to make sure it was worth it is all.
My fiance has been wanting to try coconut Thai for awhile and I hate her buying stuff when I know I can make it (especially with this thread here) so thanks a bunch, I just may have to try these out.

These are the lines you're using correct? The extracts in ethyl alcohol?
Yes, that's the one. I think the concentrates use gum acacia or something, so I went with the extracts.
The lemongrass and especially the basil are such strong notes that the cost isn't too bad for the amounts used (especially considering the actual juice is so expensive). You might be able to sub out the coconut extract for a more cost-effective coconut. I haven't gotten a chance to mix again so far this weekend but once I have the recipe down I'll let you know. :)
I bought their basil flavor a while ago and I have some others too, for some reason I still haven't worked with them yet though. What are you thinking on percentage with the basil? Is it strong?
At 1%, it's pretty strong - enough to really be up front with the lemongrass, which is also a strong note at 3%. I'm going to cut it back to .5% next time, I think it'll still come through well but not be right on top. Keep in mind I just shake & vaped the recipe so we'll see what happens after steeping. I can't see it fading too much though.
Thanks to your comments /u/70ms I just shaked & vaped your recipe at .5 basil, 3.5 lemongrass and 7 coconut. Didn't see an issue with the alcohol but now I smell it, and the lemongrass is jumping with an acidity I could also taste.
I've read and heard breathing a juice too much (>12h) will hurt its flavours and am pondering the effects of a 40°C bath in the ultrasonic cleaner with cap off for 30min.
Would you have any feedback regarding alcohol / steeping NF' extracts?
Also the coconut may need a boost. I only have creamy coconut at the moment but expecting a delivery, so I'll probably split my 30ml batch to do some tests & will report back here & elr.
I did my usual speed-steep with batch #2 by putting the mixing container in a bowl of hot water and using a milk frother for a few minutes, but the alcohol was still really apparent when I sniffed it. I let it sit out for a few days and it mellowed quite a bit. It's become my ADV at this point. I think you're right about the coconut, it can get drowned out by the basil and lemongrass especially initially. The lemongrass will mellow after it's steeped a bit. I'm still playing with it and may adjust ratios again next time (though it's good already). Let me know if you settle on anything, too. :)
Thanks for this, I'm working on a strawberry sorbet with basil and NF seems to be the only company I can find other than FA which is not in the safe to vape category. Was it the organic extract basil that you ordered?
Hey there! I finally got in all the flavors today and whipped up your recipe for Coconut Thai
NF - Coconut 7%
NF - Lemongrass 4%
NF - Basil 0.67% (0.2mls in a 30ml bottle)
And I gotta say this is fucking SPOT ON. Thank you siooo much for the work you put into this.. chasing this clone has been all but impossible. And thanks to you I can finally have this wonderful juice again!!
EDIT: Did you notice it made the bottle cloudy?
