Hi all. Just a quick and gentle reminder that if you think a post doesn't belong here, rather than complaining about it**, just hit the "report" button and let the mods take care of it :)**
Also, I've added some new "rules" to the sidebar;
Posts that are likely to be removed:
- Hand-checks
- Juice solicitations
- Clone/Recipe Requests
The last point- recipe requests- is probably the most prone to moderator discretion- if someone has put in a lot of effort, and just needs some tips, so be it.
If it's someone that posted 12 hours ago asking on /r/ECR how to start a juice company... then yeah, probably going to be deleted.
If your post has been removed, then it's probably something that could easily be answered by a quick search.
Anyway, if anyone has any other annoying post types they would like see more strictly moderated, please let me know in the comments.
Until then- REPORT, REPORT, REPORT!
LOL it seems we have a comedian in the audience http://i.imgur.com/PreDl7Z.jpg
Edit: now at 2 reports...
Edit 2: Three reports. I'll break YOU!
Edit 3: Four reports, apparently I'm sexualising minors.
- moderator reports:
- kirkt: Sexualizing Miners
- user reports:
- 4: breaking reddit
- 2: sexualizing minors
- 1: vote manipulation
- 1: Post contains the text "Hand Checks"
- 1: <no reason>
- 1: Testing the button. ;-)
- 1: spam
- 1: eating chodes tbh senpai
- 1: FA MATERIAL
- 1: Your not my supervisor!!!
- 1: nana cream clone?
Can we add posts that are egregiously TLDR, vague about what sorts of help they are requesting, and generally boring to the approved reporting scheme?
By egregiously TLDR, do you mean they're too long, or egregiously shortened to the point of non-context?
Those are the people you say "Are you still talking?" to and it gets them all flustered :D
I suggest character limits for new users who post recipes. If you can't tell us what you did in an easy to digest format and request specific advice in under 500 characters you should get moderated for your own good?
I think this is an excellent idea. Even though I usually just browse through the posts I'm not interested in it does get a little bothersome to constantly see someone post the same question over and over again.
"What flavors do I need to purchase first?" "Just got vape mail in!!" "Where is the best place to purchase supplies?" "Has anyone tried xyz vendor?" "Where is the best place to purchase vanilla Custard?" "Whats the best scale?" and so on and on.
I have tried not to make stupid posts about stuff I want to know and try to find the answer myself before I ask. I like this site and generally browse it at least twice a day just to see if there is anything I might find interesting. So far I have not needed to post much here as most of the things I want answers to are easily found with a little searching.
I did find a recipe for some great Root beer and the poster was updating it every once in a while. I found his information to be very helpful. I actually made this juice and it was exactly what I was looking for. I never would have thought that wintergreen would be the thing that makes root beer taste right but it does.
Thank you for this post. In the past, I wasn't sure if reporting would annoy the reddit admins, who wouldn't care about the rules of our little fiefdom, or alert you mods to an issue.
Thanks IC. Been watching this post all day for reactions. FWIW I gave you a report as well (the sexualixing miners one), just for shits & giggles.
Please note: we mods do NOT have a clear guide as to what content will be removed (other than clone requests outside of the thread). It's a grey area, and one we hope to resolve in the near future. We want to keep the content centered on expounding our advanced mixers' knowledge base, while still allowing for the noob to be comfortable. That's a really fine line.
I think we need to get rid of hand checks, first order posts, vape mail... but not alienate the new mixers who have done their homework and are really excited about the first mix, as I was, and as you were. Your mods are going to work toward that goal and we will announce changes in the near future.
I don't get the hand check thing...weird...
Pointless pictures of shit people got in the mail/flavor collections/finished juice/other bullshit that no one else really cares about that people just post to feel better about themselves because anonymous internet people are aware they exist.
Amen!
As a mod of a large sub, REPORT STUFF if it violates rules. It's really hard to go through every post and comment and find things that don't belong. Mods can't do that 24/7. The report button is amazing. I wish people weren't so afraid of it.
In your opinion, is bald better than balding?
Check out this and look at Midgetforsale and decide for yourself! But generally I'd say bald is way better.
