Can this be done or am I looking at DIY wrong?
submitted almost 10 years ago by Pipezilla

Can I order a pre mixed PG/VG with nicotine and just add some flavoring? Or is there other liquids I need to add to the mix?

Edit: I don't want to order a bunch of flavor oils. I like simple flavors, coconut, pineapple, apple, blueberry ect...

I did what you are explaining for awhile so "yes" you can do it that way , not the best way to get the best results but it does work, especially with concentrated single flavors.

Of course the ratio's may be a little off but i never noticed a difference to be honest , adding 6% flavoring to a 50/50 PG/VG 12 mg mix will just slightly tilt the recipe one way or the other but it still worked and i was pleased that i had a vapable juice that cost me peanuts.

Most flavoring is PG based, so if you bought a 50/50 4nic base and added flavoring, it would no longer be 50/50, so recipe to recipe it could impart significantly.

I plan on making 30 ml at a time. wouldn't the ratios change very little? Since you only use a few drops correct? (I guess depending on the flavor)

Depends, some single flavour recipes need 5-10% flavoring. If you started with 50/50, you'd end up with 60/40 or so.

The % of flavor I will add, depends of the flavor itself and the strength I want the flavor to be? say Pineapple from 3 different companies, will have different % used...correct?

It will be a lot of trial and error?

Inawera do a range of bases that are a similar idea to what you're thinking of, though the very minor effort of doing it yourself would outweigh the convenience, to me at least.

You're right, flavour is the only other thing you need in there. /u/Lumb3rJack is right, it will change the PG/VG ratio, and that'll vary based on the percentage of flavour concentrate you add. If you're using Flavourart or some other highly concentrated flavour it won't alter it drastically, but when you're up to 10/15/20% flavour it'll be a big change. Also diluting a 6mg base solution will lower the nicotine percentage.

It'll still be tasty juice though, as long as you put a nice recipe in there...

For when I'm short on time i have a big bottle of vg at 6ml nicotine, and just mix flavors into that. Usually end up around 90/10 vg/pg.

I think you can get 70vg/30pg base from ECX or wizard labs, but I might just be imagining that I saw it some where. Get it it in a strength close to what you vaoe, add some flavor and base to a bottle, and go. Won't be nearly as precise and might me a little ways under your normal nic level, but it would definitely work just fine.

Nude sells nicotine base at 3 or 6mg. The flavoring will slightly lower the overall nicotine content. http://www.nudenicotine.com/product/3-36mgnicotinebase/

You can do that, and I also did consider doing this when I first began. But i wouldn't do it, since it can be really confusion when mixing, especially new beginners. Buy PG, VG and nicotine base. Some people don't even bother buying PG since they use so much VG and all they use is the PG from the flavor. They also buy their nicotine base in VG.

I'm a little more balanced and have PG and VG base. And my nicotine is in PG so it's easier for the nicotine to blend when shaking it. PG also store base better.

If you live in Euorpe, here's a list of some cheap PG, VG and nicotine bases.

Sure you can, you lazy cheapskate.

Is this tounge in cheek?? Do you sell your own ejuice? If so, let me know where I can buy some...

Not lazy and yes, somewhat of a cheapskate. I don't like to spend $18 + at my local vape store for a 15ml bottle, and the cheap stuff is crappy tasting shit. I'm not really into blueberry muffin toasted banana vanilla mint tobacco juice (you kow what i'm getting at) I like it simple maybe a few ingredients, nothing over the top. So why wouldn't I want to venture into making my own? It might not be like the top quality juice out there, but it will suit me just fine.
