First batch complete!

After shopping around for well over a month, reading, and watching YouTube videos, I took the dive into DIY juice.

I bought my first DIY kit from liquidbarn.com (a variety of factors played into that decision), and after finally running out of the bottle I bought to keep me through the weekend, I mixed up my first batch.

I used an online calculator to take the math out of the equation and carefully weighed out each ingredient.

After 20 min and some patience, I'm proud to say I turned out my first bottle of ejuice. Something which tastes distinctly like Banana Laffy Taffy (I mixed pineapple and banana 50/50).

I can say I learned a few things. The first is that I need to buy more mixing vessels, as it takes a number to mix by weight. I also learned that banana is very overpowering. I think I'll cut the banana in the next batch by 50% and see what happens.

All-in-all, I'm just happy to have turned out my first batch of juice and actually have it be something that actually tastes good to vape in my new Nebox.

I'm not looking to break into this business, but I'm happy to say that I think I just produced a great juice that you'd almost certainly find in a discount bin somewhere.

Lastly, if you're thinking about going DIY... All I can say is this:

DO IT!

It's so simple, you'll probably end up like me, wondering why it took you so long to decide to do it.

Banana, Coconut, Coffee, Honey, Pineapple, and Citrus flavors are all very potent regardless of the manufacturer. Remember this for future reference.

Will do! A already mixed up another batch to make sure I'm good for the next day or two. The second one has 50% less banana.

I use digital scale and just tare it each time I add something. Empty bottle: Tare. Pour VG to exact weight: Tare. Pour PG: Tare. Pour Nic: Tare. Pour flavors: tare.

All my flavor or VG/PG/nic bottles already have tips on them to make pouring easy. No need to wash any containers. Just fill up the 1 bottle.

I have a digital scale and I do tare it when I start, but it never occurred to me to tare it after each ingredient.

For this reason alone I love Bull City Vapors. I'm lamenting the purchase of 500 3ml Pipettes now that I know that all of their 30ml flavor bottles are needle-tip squeeze bottles.

I'm planning on ordering one for every flavor I use and then just refilling them from bulk/wholesale orders as I run out.

Some notes for you on this. First off, banana and pineapple are both very overpowering flavours. I typically use less than 1% banana in my recipes and between 1 and 2% on the pineapple. Obviously, depending on what you're going for, that will change, but if you just want a hint of banana, keep it below 1%

If you have the means to do so, I have a pretty tasty strawberry pineapple recipe that I'm still working on, but it's great even as it is now.

TFA Strawberry Ripe - 5%

TFA Strawberry - 3%

TFA Pineapple - 2.5%

TFA Gummy Candy - 1.5%

Koolada - 4 drops

Obviously, if you don't have the two different strawberry flavours, you can go with 8% on either. And if you don't have the Gummy Candy, you can just do without it, or add in something else fruity. The Koolada is only to add a cooling effect that doesn't impact the flavour like Menthol or Mint would.

And yes, I realize that my note contradicts my use of Pineapple in this recipe, and I am revisiting this recipe to drop the Pineapple to push it back a bit haha.

My biggest problem with DIY is I have way too much killer liquid and not enough time to vape it all. Seriously, I went and bought a TFv4 so I could burn through my juice faster because I heard that it drinks juice. It's living up to it's reputation as a juice guzzler but it's not drinking it fast enough to justify the purchase so I'm looking into the quad coils.

Get into DIY and you won't need me too. I remember the days of not having enough to vape and spending too much cash. Now I have the exact opposite problem. Do you DIY or are you still thinking about making the jump?

Haha I was just fucking with you because that just seems like the opposite of a problem. I also DIY and only ever spend money on liquid when the B&M by my house texts me a 50% off or BOGO coupon. I recently just picked up about $30 worth of new flavours from TFA and made a quick batch of four new recipe ideas. I've yet to make any big batches (over 30mls), but I kinda like constantly having a new flavour to vape on. What's your favourite recipe?
